Yakovlev attempts a takedown but Suarez jumps for a guillotine. The fighters hit the floor. Yakovlev sweeps and gets top position. He hammers on Suarez and then stands up. Suarez nails Yakovlev who responds with a tackle. Yakovlev defends his neck from a guillotine and moves into full guard. Suarez works for a triangle. Yakovlez tries to hammer his way out of trouble. He smashes Suarez but Suarez traps his arm. Suarez rolls out and attempts an inverted triangle. Yakovlev tries for an arm triangle but Suarez is able to defend.

As we wait for the main event to start, they confirm that M-1 is in negotiations with DREAM for Fedor to fight on New Year's Eve next month, possibly against Satoshi Ishii.

Before the fighters are announced, M-1 plays a retrospective of Fedor's career. The also show some of Monson's accomplishments (and so help me God, I think this is narrated by Morgan Freeman).

M-1 GLOBAL BATTLE OF THE LEGENDS MAIN EVENT

Heavyweight bout: Fedor Emelianenko (238.3lbs 31-4-0, 1NC) vs. Jeff Monson (238.1 42-12)

ROUND ONE: Fedor with a straight right. Monson shoots for a takedown and gets nothing. Fedor jabs and follows with a leg kick. Another leg kick from Fedor. Fedor continues to soften up Monson with kicks and jabs. Fedor is forcing Monson to circle away in order to avoid Fedor's straight punches. Fedor chops at Monson's leg. Monson shoots, Fedor reverses and lands in half guard. Fedor stands back up. Monson's lead leg is getting tortured. Fedor drops Monson with a straight right. Fedor follows him to the ground, peppers him and stands back up. Monson shoots, Fedor sprawls and they stand back up to end the round. 27 kicks from Fedor to Monson's leg…yikes.

SCORECARD: Fedor 10-9

ROUND TWO: Fedor goes back to the lead leg. Straight right drops Monson again. Having learned from being triangled by Werdum, he doesn't dive into his guard. Monson stands and resumes getting kicked in the leg. Monson is chopped down. Fedor won't go to the ground. Another straight right hand directly on the nose of Monson sends him on his butt. Fedor lets him back up. Fedor launches a looping left, Monson ducks and shoots but continues to get nada. Monson shoots and his sprawled on again. Fedor keeps firing shots at Monson who then responds with terrible takedown attempts. Fedor unloads on Monson. This is somewhat resembling Cormier vs Monson in that Monson is taking one-sided beating but isn't giving up. Monson shoots, Fedor sprawls and stays in half guard. Fedor stalls him until the round ends.

SCORECARD: Fedor 10-9

ROUND THREE: Fedor throws Monson to the ground. Fedor lands a hard right. Fedor continues to batter Monson's leg. Fedor is doing a good job of alternating between kicks and punches. He drops Monson again but won't allow himself to get overexcited and thus caught. Monson's lead leg looks like it is going to be kicked in half. Monson's lip is cut badly. The ref stops the fight to have Monson examined by the ringside doctor. He's ok so we're back to action. Fedor is tagging Monson at will. Monson can't overcome the reach of Fedor. With 30 seconds to go Fedor tee's off on Monson. Monson goes down one last time before the round ends.

SCORECARD: Fedor 10-9

OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Fedor Emelianenko by unanimous decision (30-27X3).

Jeff Monson is a heavy bag with limbs. That said it was nice to see Fedor win using some degree of strategy. I'm not sorry I bought this. Granted it was no Hendo vs Rua or Alvarez vs Chandler (not even remotely close) but it was still fun to watch. Fedor showed more control here and regardless of the fact that Monson is just terrible, it was a good fight for Fedor to regain his confidence. Hopefully we will see Fedor vs Ishii on New Year's Eve.

Thanks for hanging out with 411 this morning and joining our live coverage of M-1 Fedor vs Monson. I'll be back this week for the last episode of TUF 14 and then Bellator 59. Until then, be safe, be well and behave. Happy Thanksgiving!

Well there's a few reasons. I wasn't home until about 8:30 and nobody else was available. Jeff was at the UFC live. From what I understand, the staff that might have been willing to cover Bellator don't have MTV2 or weren't available. When I'm available I cover Bellator or Larry does. We just couldn't this week.

As for why this card was covered and the HDNet cards are covered; it is simply because I volunteer. No other reason. If I didn't do it, trust me, this site would only cover UFC, Strikeforce and Bellator (as near as I can tell).
