Remember the days when it would be weeks in between a UFC event or even any MMA event at all that would be shown on television? Well, take a gander at the December schedule: TUF Finale December 3rd, UFC 140 December 10th, Strikeforce December 17th, Christmas, UFC 141 December 30th and then on New Years Eve, DREAM! Folks, I'm not even counting the stuff on HDNet and Showtimes other MMA programs. Welcome to future of MMA. I didn't come here to tell you any of that let's make with the fussin' and a fightin'.

We go to the cage for our first fight.

SPIKE.COM PRELIMINARY MATCHES


Middleweight bout: Gregory Milliard (185.4lbs 1-2) vs. Brandon Saling (183.6lbs 6-4)

ROUND ONE: Sailing kicks, but his leg his caught. Milliard drives him to the ground. Milliard works from guard. Milliard alternates between punching Sailing in the torso and head. Sailing is bleeding from above his eye. Sailing is doing a fine job of keeping Milliard in his guard but can't get out from under him. The ref stands them up. Sailing comes out jabbing and then misses with a spinning back fist. They clinch near the cage. Milliard lands a pair of strikes. Milliard kicks Sailing in the thigh. Sailing works his jab. Milliard catches Sailing flush on the face with a kick.

SCORECARD: Milliard 10-9

ROUND TWO: Sailing resumes throwing the jab. Milliard gets a single leg takedown. Milliard works from the half guard position. Saling is trying to sit up and out but he's leaving his neck at risk. Saiing gets to his knees but his forced back onto his back. Milliard has side control. Saling gives up his back. Saling takes shots to the face but stands back up. Milliard drives him back down. Saling is on his knees. Milliard delivers hard knee shots to his ribs. Saling recovers and stands up. The round ends with both fighters circling.

SCORECARD: Milliard 10-9

ROUND THREE: Saling jabs and kicks. Milliard continues to land thigh kicks. Saling is swinging for the fences. He's trying to turn this fight into a brawl. Milliard is effectively circling aware. Millard grabs a leg and swings Saling to the ground. He lands in side control. Milliard attempts a crucifix. Saling flips over. Milliard rides him and continues throw hammerfists but doesn't attempt a submission. Saling stands back up. Saling misses with a reverse elbow and is dragged back to the mat. Milliard smashes Saling with elbows. Saling gives up his back. Milliard attempts a rear naked choke to finish but runs out of time.

SCORECARD: Milliard 10-9

OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Gregory Milliard by unanimous decision (30-27X3).

Featherweight bout: Scott Heckman (146lbs 8-3) vs. Brylan Van Artsdalen (145.2lbs 6-2)

ROUND ONE: Van Artsdalen drives forward and slams Heckman against the fence. Heckman gets loose but is taken down by Van Artsdalen. Heckman goes for a guillotine but Van Artsdalen escapes. They stand back up, Van Artsdalen charges forward but leaves himself open for a standing guillotine.

OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Scott Heckman by submission at 1:38 of round 1.

Catchweight bout (174lbs): Lucas Pimenta (173lbs 4-0) vs. Doug Gordon (174lbs 11-10)

ROUND ONE: Gordon starts off with some high kicks. Pimenta smacks Gordon with a short right hand and finishes him off with a series of elbows. Short but sweet!

OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Lucas Pimenta by TKO at 0:40 of round 1.

Welterweight bout: LeVon Maynard (171lbs 11-8) vs. Chris Wing (170.5lbs 3-1)

ROUND ONE: Maynard throws a lazy kick and misses by a mile. Wing misses with high kick of his own. Maynard presses Wing against the fence. Maynard punches high and low. Wing retaliates with much of the same. Wing pulls away. Wing connects with a one-two punch combination. Wing and Maynard exchange punches. Maynard lands an uppercut. Maynard lands a leg kick. Wing misses with more kicks. Maynard hits a low kick. They continue to trade punches. Maynard goes head hunting with his kick but it is blocked by Wing. Maynard scores with another uppercut. Maynard ends the round pressing Wing against the fence.

SCORECARD: Maynard 10-9

ROUND TWO: Wing content to float in, throw a few punches and float again. Wing circles away in between floating into the pocket. He misses with a high kick and is taken down. Maynard pounds on his torso. Maynard is punishing Wing with elbows. Maynard deftly avoids being put into full guard. Wing connects with an up kick but he's still stuck underneath Maynard. Maynard is pushed into full guard. Wing is a bloody mess. Maynard stands up and delivers a bomb to Wing's face.

SCORECARD: Maynard 10-9

ROUND THREE: Maynard gets smacked trying to float inside. Maynard nails Wing with another great uppercut. Maynard tries another head kick but that is blocked. Wing lands a kick in the ribs. Wing attempts a single leg takedown but Maynard sprawls and ends up putting Wing on his back. Maynard tenderizes Wing's body with hammer strikes and punches. Maynard clobbers Wing with elbows. Maynard delivers a final kick in the ribs as Wing gets to his feet.

SCORECARD: Maynard 10-9

OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – LeVon Maynard by unanimous decision (30-27X2, 30-26.

Catchweight bout (175lbs): Karl Amoussou (174.6lbs 12-4-2) vs. Jesus Martinez (175.5lbs 6-1)

ROUND ONE: Amoussou starts with a spin kick. Martinez tries a takedown and gets nothing. Amoussou backs Martinez against the fence. Amoussou lands a hard kick to the leg. Amoussou delivers a straight right, which knocks Martinez down and he finishes him off with strikes to the head. That's all she wrote.

OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Karl Amoussou by TKO at 2:20 of round 1.

MTV2/EPIX HD MAIN CARD MATCHES


Lightweight bout: Marcin Held (156lbs 11-2) vs. Phillipe Nover (155.6lbs 6-3-1)

ROUND ONE: Nover lands a kick to the body. He lands another and drops him but Held is able to bounce back up. He avoids a head kick from Nover. Held goes for a rolling knee bar. They both go for heel hooks. They are all tangled up. Held changes position and cranks on the knee bar. He converts to a heel hook. Nover is able to escape. Held attempts a flying knee. Nover delivers a kick to the body. Held clinches. Nover throws a flying knee from the clinch. Held is on his back. Nover stands him while Held throws up kick. Held rolls for a knee bar. Nover attempts an arm bar. Held ends the round on top.

SCORECARD: Draw 10-10

ROUND TWO: Held moves in and attempts another submission but ends up on his back. Nover is in half guard. Nover smashes Held in the face and follow up with elbow strikes. Held looks for a rolling arm bar but Nover escapes. Nover allows Held to stand up. They trade strikes. Held gets a takedown. Nover attempts a kimura. He gives it up and stands over Held again. Nover dives on Held's face.

SCORECARD: Nover 10-9

ROUND THREE: Held immediately gets a takedown. Held has the top position. Held is in half guard. Nover spins out but Held has him in a front face lock. Nover pulls his head out puts Held on his back. Nover works some grinding elbows and then lets Held up. Held charges at Nover and we're back on the mat again. They are both attempting leg submissions and they they disengage. Held and Nover exchange punches, Held clinches and brings them both down. Nover is on top again. Nover delivers more punishment to end the round.

SCORECARD: Nover 10-9

OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Phillipe Nover by split decision (29-28 Nover, 29-28X2 Held).

Oh please. Nover won that fight. Held got a Joe Warren-Marcus Galvao decision. I declare shenanigans.

Bantamweight Tournament Finals bout: Eduardo Dantas (136lbs 12-2) vs. Alexis Vila (135lbs 11-0)

ROUND ONE: Vila comes screaming across the cage punching and he takes Dantas down. Vila stands up while Dantas throws up kicks. Dantas gets back up. Dantas lands a flying knee. Vila clinches Dantas against the fence. They exchange knees in the clinch. Dantas turns Vila into the fence. Vila turns him back. Vila is trying but he can't seem to get Dantas down. He finally drives him to the mat. Dantas gets back up again. Vila hangs on to end the round.

SCORECARD: Vila 10-9

ROUND TWO: Vila shoots for a single let but Dantas blocks and pounds on him. Dantas hits a knee. Dantas fires off a leg kick. Vila charges forward and pushes Dantas against the fence. Dantas escapes. Dantas lands another knee. Vila throws some hard overhand punches. Vila shoots for the takedown again. Dantas grabs a front face lock. He tries for a guillotine but Vila escapes. Vila lands a right. Dantas lands a knee that rocks Vila. Vila shoots for another takedown. He sticks his head right in Dantas' guillotine. Vila gets his head free. Dantas is down but stands back up. Dantas turns him around against the fence. Vila gets free and is nearly knee'd in the face.

SCORECARD: Dantas 10-9

ROUND THREE: Dantas with a front kick. Vila lands a leg kick. Vila slips and is nearly finished because of it. Dantas scores points with a series of punches. Dantas and Vila roll to the floor. Dantas takes Vila's back. He's trying for a rear-naked choke. They are at a stalemate. Vila is trying to fight his way out of trouble. The bell sounds with Vila out of trouble but still in the body triangle.

SCORECARD: Dantas 10-9

OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Eduardo Dantas by unanimous decision (29-28X3).

Next season we will see Zach Makovsky vs Eduardo Dantas for the Bantamweight Title.

Lightweight bout: Patricky "Pitbull" Freire (155lbs 9-2) vs. Kurt Pellegrino (155lbs 16-6)

ROUND ONE: Pellegrino is jabbing and circling. Pitbull drops Batman with a huge right. He chases him down and finishes him off with strikes to the face. Both of Pellegrino's arms were locked up so he couldn't defend himself, therefore (despite chants of bullshit) the fight is OVER! WAR PITBULLS!

OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – : Patricky "Pitbull" Freire by TKO at 0:50 of round 1.

Heavyweight Tournament Final bout: Eric Prindle (264.8lbs 9-1) vs. Thiago Santos (264.8lbs 10-1)

ROUND ONE: Prindle starts with a lazy kick. Santos charges forward and gets the takedown. Santos unloads on Prindle. Prindle stands up but Santos tackles to that mat once more. Santos stands up and kicks Prindle in the groin (possibly square in the taint).

Prindle can't continue as he feels like he is going to vomit. The cage side doctor will rule this a "No Contest."

OFFICIAL RESULT: NO CONTEST at 1:24 of round 1.

These two will meet for a rematch early next year. Meanwhile Cole Konrad will probably either not fight at all or will take on yet another has been heavyweight. Either way this was a rather disappointing way to end Bellator's Season 5 between the bad decision, he aborted heavyweight fight and the alleged early stoppage.
