INTRODUCTION: Thanks for joining 411Mania tonight(again) this morning for our special live coverage of DREAM: New Year! 2011!
"It may be the crack of dawn here on the east coast of America but in Japan, it's SHOWTIME," were my exact words on New Year's Eve one year ago when I covered this (my very first) show for 411. Who else but Mark stays up after watching Brock Lesnar take on Alistair Overeem to cover Japanese MMA? That's right ladies and gentlemen, when it comes to live coverage no sacrifice is too great. No show is too small. No…do any of really give a hoot about what I'm going on about? Probably not and it's a good thing too because not only is it 1:00AM in the bloody morning here in Florida but due to the aforementioned UFC PPV I haven't gotten a lick of sleep. That's OK though because tonight is about ringing in the new year with The Last Emperor, Fedor Emelianenko. If Fedor can defy the odds and make the comeback of a lifetime (stop laughing) then the least I can do is lose some sleep to document it all. After all, I am the man with a rather odd Vince McMahon-like attraction to heavyweight fighters, so I feel like I owe to myself to do this. That is of course if I don't pass out somewhere in the middle the broadcast.
By the by, since I have been doing live coverage for the site for a year now, feel free to let me know how you've liked my coverage. I try to be as responsive as I can i.e. you all asked for weights and records, I added those to most of the threads. You asked me not to go crazy with the colorful language so I modified my writing style to accommodate you readers. Feel free to pass along some constructive criticism or just pat me on the head with some nice approval; your choice.
I didn't come here to tell you any of that, let's make with the fussin' and a fightin'.
We are live in Saitama, Japan!
Tonight's commentary team is Michael Schiavello Mike Kogan and Hans Thompson.
