    Hey 411 readers, thanks for joining 411's live MMA coverage tonight!

    So a little ways back I left my job as a middle manager in a managed care company to go back to be being a social worker, this time in a jail. Now my days look something like this:



    Actually my job looks nothing like what was shown on OZ but every now and then I still empathize with the McMannis character. I didn't come here to tell you that so without further dudes, let's make with the fussin' and-a fightin'.

    INTRODUCTION:


    We are live at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska!

    Our hosts for tonight are John Anik and Kenny Florian. We go to the octagon for our first fight!

    FACEBOOK.COM PRELIMINARY MATCHES


    Lightweight bout: Bernardo Magalhaes (155lbs 11-1) vs. Tim Means (155lbs 16-3-1)

    ROUND ONE: The fighters trade kicks to start off. Means comes forward as Magalhaes circles away. Magalhaes continues to circle as he can't seem to get inside. Magalhaes shoots, can't get the takedown and eats a knee for his troubles. Magalhaes lands a left hook but Means punishes him with counterstrikes. Means hits another knee. Magalhaes lands a hard right, to which Means just smiles at him. Means lands a knee, straight right combo and down goes Magalhaes. Magalhaes defends on the ground and gets back to his feet. Means grabs a Thai clinch and throws a series of knees at Magalhaes. Means chops at Magalhaes' leg.

    SCORECARD: Means 10-9

    ROUND TWO: They jab at one another. Magalhaes lands a leg kick and eats a punch. Both fighters are still fighting very tentatively. Magalhaes is trying to find a home for his overhand right, although he isn't setting it up at all. Means continues to stalk Magalhaes. Magalhaes lands an overhand right but Means keeps coming forward. Means goes to the body, which encourages Magalhaes to go for a takedown. Means defends as the round comes to a close.

    SCORECARD: Means 10-9

    ROUND THREE: Means comes out more aggressive in this round. Means is picking up the pace of his thrown strikes. Magalhaes tries a takedown but goes 0-3. He tries for a single leg and goes 0-4. Means jabs at Magalhaes and he shoots for another single, briefly gets it but Means pops back up. Means continues to work his jab. Means goes to the body again and folds Means up like a freshly clean shirt. Means hits Magalhaes with another knee and down he goes again. Means goes to work on the ground as the horn sounds.

    SCORECARD: Means 10-9

    OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Tim Means by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 30-26).

    Lightweight bout: Anton Kuivanen (156lbs 16-4) vs. Justin Salas (155lbs 9-3)

    ROUND ONE: Salas comes out working the jab. He goes for a single leg but gets nothing instead. Kuivanen lands a hart shot. Salas turns up the pressure but Kuivanen defends and retaliates. They clinch up and Kuivanen lands a few knees. Salas lands a hook. Salas tackles Kuivanen. He stands over him, trying to pass. Salas hammers at his torso. Kuivanen sweeps and stands up. Kuivanen chases Salas, landing kicks. Salas lands a right hook. Salas grabs a leg and dumps Kuivanen again to end the round.

    SCORECARD: Salas 10-9

    ROUND TWO: Salas lands another right. Lands a low kick and attempts a flying knee. Salas clinches up and knees Kuivanen in the thigh. Kuivanen breaks free. Kuivanen comes forward but Salas counters. Salas tries for a single leg and presses Kuivanen against the fence. Kuivanen and Salas continues to trade. Salas presses Kuivanen against the fence again to end the round.

    SCORECARD: Salas 10-9

    ROUND THREE: Salas kicks to the body. He gives chase to Kuivanen. Salas dives at Kuivanen and takes him down against the fence. Kuivanen defends and grabs a heel hook. Salas escapes and puts Kuivanen on his back. Kuivanen sweeps and gets to his feet. Salas presses him against the fence. Salas lands another punch before returning to the center. Kuivanen lands a clean shot. Salas dumps Kuivanen on his tushy again. Second verse, same as the first.

    SCORECARD: Salas 10-9

    OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Justin Salas by unanimous decision (30-27X2, 29-27).

    Middleweight bout: Sean Loeffler (185lbs 25-5) vs. Buddy Roberts (184lbs 11-2)

    ***Sean Loeffler sprained his ankle during pre-fight warm-ups and will not be able to fight.***

    Featherweight bout: Jonathan Brookins (145lbs 13-4) vs. Vagner Rocha (145lbs 7-2)

    ROUND ONE: Rocha lands a right, Brookins returns with a kick. Both fighters exchange strikes. Rocha lands another on the chin. Rocha gets a body lock, tries to pull guard and Brookins knocks him out with ground and pound.

    OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Jonathan Brookins by KO at 1:32.

    FUEL TV MAIN CARD MATCHES


    Bantamweight bout: John Albert (135lbs 7-1) vs. Ivan Menjivar (135lbs 23-8)

    ROUND ONE: The fighters trade kicks and punches. Albert delivers a knee to the head. Menjivar nails Albert with a spinning back fist and then gets a takedown. Albert defends and tries an omaplata. Menjivar hammer fists his way out. Albert tries for another submission. Menjivar counters with an ankle lock. Albert tries for a heel hook. Menjivar stands and escapes. Albert kicks him in the face. Albert is on the attack. Albert is kneeing Menjivar all over the face and body. Albert smashes Menjivar and puts him on his back. Albert attempts the omaplata again. Menjivar defends, recovers and takes Albert's back. Menjivar taps out Albert with a rear-naked choke.

    OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Ivan Menjivar by submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:45 of round 1.

    Bantamweight bout: T.J. Dillashaw (136lbs 5-1) vs. Walel Watson (135lbs 9-3)

    ROUND ONE: Dillashaw superman punches into a takedown attempt. Watson scrambles but TJ stays with him, presses him against the fence and finally takes him down. Watson tries to stand and gets slammed down again. TJ works from guard. He passes and takes his back. Dillashaw attempts a rear-naked choke. Watson spins over but still takes punishment. Dillashaw takes his back again. He's got the choke but Watson flips over. Dillashaw works Watson over and hammers on him until the round ends.

    SCORECARD: Dillashaw 10-9

    ROUND TWO: Dillashaw smashes Watson in the mouth. TJ takes him down. TJ works from the half guard position. Watson tries to escape but Dillashaw is all over him. Dillashaw gets full mount and commences to pound the tar out of Watson. This is no longer a match so much as it is an exercise in bullying. Dillashaw locks up the rear-naked choke. He can't finish him so he goes back to ground and pound. Watson is barely hanging in there. Dillashaw lays in one last punch from the knee-on-belly position and the round ends.

    SCORECARD: Dillashaw 10-9

    ROUND THREE: Watson comes across the cage with flying knees and kicks, none of which appear to connect. Dillashaw connects with a hard punch. Dillashaw punches, gets a takedown but sticks his head in a guillotine. He escapes and gets to side control. Watson escapes and stands up. Watson can't get a reading on Dillashaw. He's trying to hit him but TJ is too fast and elusive. Watson gets a flying triangle! Dillashaw escapes. Watson grabs a heel hook. Dillashaw escapes and works from full guard. Watson attempts an armbar but Dillashaw scrambles and takes his back. He commences alternating between an RNC and G&P.

    SCORECARD: Dillashaw 10-9

    OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – TJ Dillashaw 30-25X2, 30-26) by.

    I was being generous with my scores, for the record.

    Heavyweight bout: Philip De Fries (241lbs 8-0, 1NC) vs. Stipe Miocic (240lbs 7-0)

    ROUND ONE: De Fries tries half heartedly for a takedown. De Fries lands 2 that stuns him and apparently wakes him up. He returns fire with 2 straight rights and finishes him right quick with ground and pound. WAR NEW CRO-COP~!

    OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Stipe Miocic by KTFO at 0:43 of round 1.

    GOD BLESS CROATIA (and Ohio)!

    Middleweight bout: Ronny Markes (185lbs 12-1) vs. Aaron Simpson (186lbs 10-2)

    ROUND ONE: Markes comes out swinging! He stuns Simpson and backs him up against the cage. Makes and Simpson are clinched up and trade knees. They aren't doing much so he ref breaks them up. Markes lands a duo of leg kicks. Markes lights up Simpsons face again with a series of straight punches. Simpson fires back with a right that drops Markes. Simpson is all over Markes with punches and elbows. Markes defends and tries for an armbar. Simpson stands up in the guard. Simpson isn't pressing the action so the ref allow Markes to stand back up. Markes comes forward throwing more punches. Simpson attempts a takedown but can't finish it.

    SCORECARD: Markes 10-9

    ROUND TWO: Simpson lands a hard shot. Simpson comes forward and presses Markes against the fence. Simpson breaks away. Markes lands a combo but Simpson ducks under and tries for a takedown. He settles for pressing Markes against the fence. Markes breaks away. They clinch up again. They trade positions against the fence. Markes wins the takedown contest. Markes works from half guard. Markes elbows Simpson in the thigh. Simpson gets to his feet but Markes is hanging on to him.

    SCORECARD: Markes 10-9

    ROUND THREE: Simpson throws an overhand-right/knee combination. Markes defends against Simpson's offense by clinching and pressing Simpson against the fence. The ref breaks them up. Simpson lands a front kick. Markes clinches again. Markes is stomping on Simpson's foot. The ref breaks them up again. Simpson and Markes trade hard punches. Markes hits with a knee. Simpson attempts a double leg. Markes gets Simpson down and takes his back. Simpson gets up and Markes takes him down again.

    SCORECARD: Markes 10-9

    OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Ronny Markes by split decision (29-28X2 Markes, 29-28 Simpson).

    Heavyweight bout: Dave Herman (234lbs 21-2) vs. Stefan Struve (256lbs 26-5)

    ROUND ONE: Sasquatch starts with a couple of leg kicks. Struve throws a high kick. Herman continues with leg kicks. Struve misses with an overhand right. Herman lands two square on the chin of Struve. Herman lands another series of strikes. Struve is landing some leg kicks. Struve lands a hard right hand. Herman lands a spinning back kick. Herman continues to back Struve against the fence. Herman catches Struve's kick and lands a punch.

    SCORECARD: Herman 10-9

    ROUND TWO: Struve picks up the pace and backs Herman up. He tackles Herman to the mat and takes his back. Herman escapes and stands up. The fighters exchange strikes. Herman throws a light leg kick and gets nailed with a hard body kick. Struve lands a few hard shots on the face of Herman. Herman circles away. Struve drops Herman with an uppercut. Struve gets full mount and hammers on him. Struve ground and pounds his way to another victory.

    It might be time for Struve to take a step up in competition…I hear Bigfoot needs a fight.

    OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Stefan Struve by TKO at 3:52 of round 2.

    Welterweight bout: Jake Ellenberger (170lbs 26-5) vs. Diego Sanchez (170lbs 25-4)

    ROUND ONE: Both men come out swinging. Sanchez kicks and takes a punch. They kick each other in the body. Sanchez eats a few punches trying to get inside. Ellenberger is able to hit Sanchez at will but Sanchez can't find the target. Ellenberger stuns Sanchez with a knee. Sanchez tries to back Ellenberger against the cage. Sanchez lands a hard shot but Ellenberger defends and locks Sanchez up, momentarily. Ellenberger drops Sanchez with a left. Sanchez scrambles and gets to his feet. Ellenberger lands one last shot to end the round.

    SCORECARD: Ellenberger 10-9

    ROUND TWO: Sanchez misses a spinning back sick. Sanchez is still trying to get inside and land some strikes. Ellenberger continues to land strikes of his own. Ellenberger is able to get out of the pocket quickly. Sanchez misses with a hard right. Ellenberger takes Sanchez down. Ellenberger smashes Sanchez with elbows. Once again, Sanchez has broken his face.

    SCORECARD: Ellenberger 10-9

    The fighters trade but most punches aren't landing. Ellenberger finally sends Sanchez reeling back. Sanchez tries to mount a flurry of offense. Ellenberger responds by going for a single leg. Sanchez defends. Ellenberger hits a knee. Sanchez goes on the attack again but Ellenberger takes him down. Ellenberger slips off of his back and now Sanchez is on top pounding away. Ellenberger in eating punches. This could be stopped! Ellenberger is covering up from the enormous amount of punishment from Sanchez. Ellenberger escapes in the TA-DA nick of time to end the round. He nearly gave that one away folks!

    SCORECARD: Sanchez 10-9

    OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Jake Ellenberger by unanimous decision (29-28X3).

    Good stuff from both guys! I'll be back Saturday night for UFC 144 in Japan and remember to tune in this Sunday at 11:00 AM for the 411 Ground and Pound Radio show.

    I understand that reasoning but it doesnt give a main event, this one in particular, the opportunity to become a classic. It looked at the end of the third that this fight was turning in favor of DSanchez but because it wasnt 5 rounds, we will never know. I think UFC/FOX blew it on this one.
