411's UFC on FOX 11 Report 4.19.14

Hello everyone, and thank you for joining 411mania for live coverage of UFC on FOX 11. Not gonna lie, I missed the first fight, my apologies for that but I'm here for the rest of the card.

Heavyweight Bout:Derrick Lewis (256) vs. Jack May (252.5)

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Derrick Lewis by TKO at 4:23 of Round 1

I missed the action for this fight, my apologies, but I do have the finish.

Again, sorry about that.

Featherweight Bout: Mirsad Bektic (146) vs. Chas Skelly (145)

ROUND ONE: Touch of the gloves and we start circling. Both men range finding with their jabs. Both men missing with punches, they're still finding the range. Skelly lands a jab. Skelly lands a right hand. Clinch up against the fence, Skelly pushing Bektic against the fence. Bektic reverses position. Not a whole lot of action in the clinch, the ref asks for action. They break on their own. Skelly lands another jab. Bektic hits a good left hook. Skelly misses a windmill overhand right. Skelly shoots off of a combination, Bektic stuffs and reverses, Bektic on top in full guard and throwing some leather. Skelly manages to tie him up, Bektic passes to half guard but the round ends before anything else happens.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Bektic

ROUND TWO: Bektic hits a combination off of a missed jab from Skelly. Betkic lands a straight right. Bektic hits an uppercut as Skelly was dipping his head to wing a punch. Bektic hits a body-head combination. Skelly pushes forward and shoots, Bektic up against the fence but isn't going down. Skelly fights for a single, can't get it and Betkic locks up a body lock and pushes Skelly against the fence. Bektic thinks about a single, bails on it and resumes holding Skelly. Skelly tries to reverse, Betkic breaks away. Skelly hurts Bektic with a right. Skelly swarms, and hits an illegal knee as Betkic had a hand on the ground. The ref takes a point from Skelly for the illegal knee and Bektic has five minutes to recover. The replay shows the first knee was borderline but the second was pretty clearly illegal. Bektic looks like he wants to continue. Bektic does indeed continue but the point has been deducted. Skelly lands another right hand, Betkic is still a little wobbly. Bektic missing some punches and the round ends.

SCORECARD: 9-9 DRAW with the point deduction, 19-18 Bektic overall

ROUND THREE: Bektic looked a little off between rounds. Skelly pushing forward early, neither man landing much. Bektic shoots and hits a big takedown, inside Skelly's full guard. Bektic passes into half guard, keeping Skelly up against the fence. Skelly uses the fence to elevate and goes for a leg lock, Bektic scrambles, Skelly scrambles back and gets the back of Bektic. Skelly has one hook in from the back. Bektic working to dump Skelly off, and does, Bektic back in top position. Bektic in half guard now and lands some punches. Skelly pushes to his feet, Betkic lands a right hand on the break. Skelly hits a right hand. Bektic shoots again and hits a big takedown, Skelly tries to butterfly him over, Skelly gets a leg and goes for a kneebar. Betkic attacks with a heel hook, both men in the 50/50 position throwing some punches as the fight ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Bektic, 29-27 Bektic overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Mirsad Bektic via majority decision (29-27x2, 28-28)

Bektic gets an interview with Joe Rogan. Bektic looks at the big scree replay of the knee, says he was dazed but didn't know the knees were illegal he was just hoping to recover. Bektic says he wants to be the new and improved GSP, lofty goal, and says he was seeing two Skelly's for a while and waited for his vision to clear up. Bektic says he was good by the third round and shot the double because he didn't want to throw sloppy shots and wanted to avoid getting hurt. Bektic thanks the UFC management and his trainers.

Borg's nickname is "The TazMexican Devil" and he comes out to some classic Led Zepplin, both things I can appreciate. Dustin Ortiz comes out to "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC making the battle of the walkout music a draw.

Flyweight Bout: Ray Borg (125.5) vs. Dustin Ortiz (125.5)

ROUND ONE: Ortiz comes out aggressive, shoots and gets double underhooks against the fence. Ortiz working knees to the body, Borg thinks about jumping for a guillotine. Ortiz completes the takedown and gets Borg to release the head. Ortiz passes into half guard, now towards side control. Borg looks to hit a switch, and does, Borg now on top. Ortiz sitting against the cage and throwing punches to the body. Ortiz trying to stand back up, Borg picks him up and slams him down then spins to the back. Ortiz trying to get out the back door and does. Ortiz has the front head lock, working on a guillotine and throwing knees to the body. Borg gets a hand off of his neck and he stands up. Borg grabs another double and hits another slam. Ortiz tries to get up, Borg jumps onto his back again, Ortiz slips him off again and Ortiz on top in Borg's full guard. Ortiz tries for a side choke, Borg escapes and lands a couple of punches as the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Borg

ROUND TWO: Borg lands a body kick, then just misses a wheel kick. Ortiz lands a right hand, Borg misses the follow up. Ortiz pushes Borg into the fence and hits a couple of knees to the body. Ortiz hits a body lock slam into side control. Ortiz fighting to land some shots. Borg hip escapes into butterfly guard, Ortiz tries to pass, Borg escapes, grabs a single and takes Ortiz down. Ortiz tries to escape and Borg again takes the back. Borg has the body triangle this time and starts landing some punches. Borg gets the rear naked choke, not quite under the chin and he bails on it to land some hard punches. Borg tries it again, Ortiz defends it. Ortiz regains his feet but Borg doesn't let go of the position. Borg tries the choke again, he's got the face crank on but Ortiz escapes again. Borg still has the back as the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Borg, 20-18 Borg overall

ROUND THREE: Ortiz comes out jabbing, lands a hard one. Ortiz throws a head kick that just misses, Borg clinches up with him. Ortiz fights to keep the clinch and they trade knees before they break. Leg kick from Ortiz lands. Ortiz pressing forward, hits two body punches. Borg hits a body kick, lands a spinning back kick as well. Ortiz lands a head kick. Borg lands a jumping knee. Ortiz clinches up and gets the body lock, looking for the takedown. Borg fights through the clinch and they break. Ortiz lands a jab. They clinch up again, big knee to the body from Ortiz, and one to the head. They trade knees, Borg shoots a single against the fence and gets Ortiz down. Ortiz regains his feet, Borg takes him down, Ortiz tries to stand, Borg tries to take the back and Ortiz counters, now landing punches while Borg tries for another single. Borg sneaks around and gets the back, then lands another slam. Borg gets the back again and hold onto the head from there to end the fight.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Ortiz, 29-28 Borg overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Dustin Ortiz by split decision (29-28x2, 28-29)

Ortiz says he wasn't surprised by the decision and that he was more active which was what cost him against Moraga. Ortiz says he expected a tough fight and wants to bring the pace to his next fight.

I've got a word with the judges from that last fight. So what happened guys?

Welterweight Bout: Jordan Mein (170.5) vs. Hernani Perpetuo (170.5)

ROUND ONE: Mein is pushing forward but neither man is throwing much in the first thirty seconds. Perpetuo lands a leg kick. Leg kick from Mein. Perpetuo lands a jab to the body and a leg kick. Mein shoots a single and gets Perpetou on his back. Mein lands a couple of hard left hands from the guard. Mein now punching the body and head, Perpetuo is mostly just eating these. Mein passes into half guard, but it's loose and basically side control. Mein lands a couple of more punches. Perpetuo sweeps and they scramble to their feet. Mein lands a knee to the head. Perpetuo misses a leg kick. They circle to end the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Mein

ROUND TWO: Leg kick from Mein to start the round. Perpetuo misses a leg kick. Leg kick lands for Perpetuo. Mein is pushing forward but isn't being terribly active. Leg kick from Mein lands, and a front kick to the chest. Left hook from Mein lands, the follow up combination is mostly blocked. Mein lands a left right combination. Perpetuo misses a leg kick. Mein misses an uppercut. Mein shoots a double and easily gets Perpetuo down. Mein stacking Perpetuo up, passes into half guard and lands an elbow. Perpetuo gets to his feet and eats a couple of punches. Perpetuo is swinging but missing.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Mein, 20-18 Mein overall

ROUND THREE: Mein loads up on a left hook, Perpetuo lands a counter. Perpetuo coming forward, he's frustrated by his inability to land anything. Mein lands a combination. Leg kick from Mein lands. Mein lands a jab, shoots a double and gets Perpetuo down into half guard. Mein can't keep the position, Perpetuo gets a leg and goes for a kneebar. He's got it pretty tight, Mein is trying to pull the arms off. Mein rolls and gets Perpetuo's back, Perpetuo turns into him and winds up on top in half guard. Mein regains full guard, Perpetuo passes into half guard, Mein pushes him off and lands a right as they regain their feet. Mein goes southpaw for a moment. Perpetuo is trying to goad Mein in, Mein not falling for it. Perpetuo lands a big left that has Mein backing up. Mein shoots, stuffed at first but Perpetuo goes to the ground, almost has a reverse triangle but the position is wrong. Perpetuo lands a body shot.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Perpetuo, 29-28 Mein overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Jordan Mein by split decision (29-28x2, 28-29)

No interview, just as well, that was pretty uninspiring.

Middleweight Bout: Caio Magalhaes (185.5) vs. Luke Zachrich (185.5)

ROUND ONE: Zachrich tries a leg kick, checked. Zachrich lands a left hook, Magalhaes lands a couple of punches, and a knee. Zachrich survies, Magalhaes lands to the body and Zachrich is hurt. Magalhaes swarms him and that stops the fight.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Caio Magalhaes by TKO at :44 of Round 1

Magalhaes gets and interview. He says his gameplan couldn't change because of the late replacement to Zachrich and he knew his original opponent was going to be coming forward the whole time so he planned to do the same. He thanks his coaches then says he's been training the body work in part because Glover Teixeira kept hitting him with it in training.

To kill time due to the quick finish we get an interview that Rogan conducted with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones to hype his title fight with Glover Teixeira at UFC 172 next week.

Featherweight Bout: Estevan Payan (146) vs. Alex White (146)

ROUND ONE: White is a southpaw, touch of the gloves and we're going. Body kick from Payan. White is a late replacement for Mike Brown. Body kick from White. Payan lands a lead left. White misses a spinning backfirst, Payan digs a right to the body, and a right to the head. White lands a straight left, and a right to follow up. Payan drops like a rock! White swarms him and the ref finally steps in. Payan complains but I thought he was out.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Alex White by KO at 1:28 of Round 1

White says he feels great, really at a loss for words and stammers a bit. White says he was going to keep punching until the ref stopped it. Rogan covers for the stammering fighter and welcomes him to the UFC.

Again because of the quick finish we get some promotional materials, this time for Miesha Tate vs. Liz Carmouche.

Lightweight Bout: Pat Healy (156) vs. Jorge Masvidal (155.5)

ROUND ONE: Healy is actually a slight underdog here. Masvidal comes out quickly. Healy lands an inside leg kick, Masvidal throwing a thrust kick to the knee. Healy lands a looping left, Masvidal fighting southpaw. Healy pushes forward, eats a punch, gets the clinch but Masvidal turns and escapes. Healy lands a body shot. Body kick from Masvidal. Healy lands a straight right and shoots a single. They're against the fence, Healy looking to get the single, Masvidal has the neck, Healy ignores the potential choke and pushes forward with the single leg. Masvidal pulls his leg out, lands a kick, Healy hits the body and dives back into the clinch. Healy has the body lock now against the fence and drags Masvidal down. Masvidal regains his feet, Healy doesn't give him space and lands a body shot, then an elbow to the head. Healy drops for another single. Healy knees the body, Masvidal manages to turn and escape. Head kick from Masvidal is blocked, but a follow up to the body lands. Masvidal tries a flying knee, caught by Healy, Masvidal defends a potential takedown and has front headlock position. Healy pushes him off, lands an inside leg kick to end the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Masvidal

ROUND TWO: Masvidal has switched to orthodox stance now. Healy digs a couple of lefts to the body and pushes into the clinch. Healy looking for a single leg against the fence. Healy hits the body and drops down for another single. Healy bails on it and fights for a body lock. Healy breaks away to land some short punches and then clinches. Masvidal knees the body, spins Healy and then breaks away. Masvidal lands a right. Masvidal switches to southpaw, lands a combination to counter the motion of Healy. Healy shoots a single and has Masvidal up against the fence again. Masvidal spins Healy into the fence and breaks away. Masvidal lands a spinning heel kick to the head. Healy just ate it. Healy pushes forward, lands a left and hits a double leg. Masvidal back to his feet, Healy gets the back standing. Healy tees off on the body, Masvidal lands a knee to the body. Masvidal threatens with a front choke, Healy breaks away. Masvidal lands a body shot, Healy pushes forward again and they clinch. Masvidal reverses against the fence to end the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Healy, 19-19 overall

ROUND THREE: Slow start to this round. Masvidal is southpaw again, lands a couple of lead hooks. Healy grabs a single and they're against the fence. Masvidal gets double underhooks and spins Healy into the fence. Masvidal knees the body and breaks away. Head kick from Masvidal lands, and a body kick. Healy bulls forward and they clinch into the fence again. Masvidal has the body lock again and turns Healy into the fence. They break, Masvidal lands a couple of jabs. Healy shoots again, Masvidal gives up his back standing, Healy drags him to the middle of the cage and suplexes him. Masvidal rolls under for a kneebar and gets on top in half guard. Masvidal lands some elbows, Healy is backing them to the fence and looks to wall walk. Healy gets to his knees, then feet, Masvidal lands some punches, keeps the body lock and takes Healy down. Masvidal has side control against the fence. Masvidal has one hook in as Healy is standing, Healy rolls for a kneebar. Healy has the leg and they're standing, Healy looking for a single now. Masvidal breaks the grip, Healy hits the body, Masvidal knees the body and the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Masvidal, 29-28 Masvidal overall

Rogan is with Masvidal. Masvidal says he didn't mind the grinding against the cage, he trained for it and says he's never been on his back for more than thirty seconds at a stretch. Masvidal thanks God as his biggest sponsor.

Welterweight Bout: Thiago Alves (170.5) vs. Seth Baczynski (170.5)

This is the first fight for Thiago Alves in two years, in fact just one day short of exactly two years. His last fight was the submission loss to Martin Kampmann. Baczynski is six inches taller than Alves and has five inches of reach on him.

ROUND ONE: Touch of the gloves and we're underway. Baczynski lands a body kick. Alves blocks a head kick. Inside leg kick lands for Alves. Baczynski is moving in and out a lot, throwing quick combinations. Baczynski shoots, they clinch against the cage. Alves defends and pushes him off. Baczynski lands an uppercut. Leg kick for Baczynski, Alves lands a leg kick. Alves just misses a head kick. Alves pushes forward and lands a couple of punches. Alves lands a left hook. Alves lands a straight right. Baczynski lands a couple of body punches. Baczynski lands a right, Alves lands a hard leg kick. Inside leg kick from Alves lands. They clinch up, Alves lands a knee, Baczynski lands a flying knee on the break. Alves lands a couple of leg kicks as the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Alves

ROUND TWO: Alves lands a leg kick to start the round. Baczynski misses a high kick. Inside leg kick lands for Alves, and an outside one. Baczynski gets the clinch, Alves pushes him off. Alves teeing off on that lead leg, both inside and outside leg kicks. Baczynski checks a leg kick and lands a counter right. Alves lands a combination. Alves gets a clinch and throws a couple of knees, Alves lands a jab. Baczynski lands a right. Baczynski backs Alves into the fence, lands a right and clinches up with him. Alves spins out quickly. Body kick from Alves. Both men are bleeding, and both are throwing some shots. Inside leg kick from Alves lands. Baczynski lands a right. Alves hits another inside leg kick, then an outside one. ROUND THREE: Body kick from Alves lands, and a left hook to the head. Baczynski shoots and gets the clinch against the fence. Alves pushes him off and lands a body kick. Leg kick lands from Alves, and another that drops Baczynski. They trade some combinations, Alves is getting the better generally. Baczynski shoots again, can't get the takedown and Alves lands a leg kick on the break. Baczysnki lands a good right hand, Alves lands a counter. Hard right from Alves lands. Baczynski shoots again, again it doesn't happen. They trade left hooks, Alves backs Baczynski into the cage with his striking. Baczynski shoots again, again Alves defends and hits a knee to the body. Alves lands a couple of leg kicks. Alves hits a hard right hand, grabs the Thai clinch and lands some knees to the head. Baczynski escapes the clinch and shoots, again stuffed by Alves. Alves hits a body kick. Another leg kick for Alves, they start swinging to end the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Alves, 30-27 Alves overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Thiago Alves by unanimous decision (30-27x3)

Alves says it feels great to return after all that time off with a win. Says the fight was hard and that it was hard to be injured and away from the fight game for that long.

Lightweight Bout: Rafael dos Anjos (155.5) vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov (155)

ROUND ONE: Touch of the gloves and we're off. Dos Anjos is fighting southpaw. Khabib throws a combination that's mostly blocked. Body kick lands for dos Anjos. Khabib gets the clinch against the fence. Khabib elevates him and gets the takedown. Dos Anjos tries to get up immediately, Khabib sticks to him like glue. Dos Anjos fights to his feet, Khabib still has the clinch. Khabib pulls him down again, lands a knee to the body, and dos Anjos gets back to his feet again. Khabib still holding the clinch, dos Anjos finally breaks free. Body kick form dos Anjos. Khabib lands a right, and a flying knee. Khabib closes the distance and again drags dos Anjos to the ground. Khabib has half guard, dos Anjos thought about a kimura attempt but bails and regains his feet. Khabib still has the clinch, now with a body lock. Dos Anjos pushes away but eats a hard uppercut from Khabib and Khabib has the single leg again. This time dos Anjos limp legs out of the attack. Body kick from dos Anjos lands, Khabib with a counter couple of punches. Dos Anjos lands a body punch. Khabib lands a right and a body kick of his own. Khabib lands a right and then they both swing as the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Nurmagomedov

ROUND TWO: Dos Anjos starts the second with an inside leg kick. Khabib lands a left hook. Body kick from Khabib. Dos Anjos pushing forward but missing a lot of punches. Khabib going forward now and hits a double leg. Dos Anjos trying for a guillotine, he's working towards finishing the hand position. He's got it tighter now, he bails on it. Khabib lands a couple of short punches to the face as dos Anjos fails to regain his feet. Khabib knees the body. Khabib tries to take the back, bails on that and just resumes kneeing the leg and body from his position. Khabib just will not let dos Anjos up. Dos Anjos turns but Khabib gets him down again. Khabib passes into half guard. Dos Anjos regains full guard, Khabib lands a right hand. Another one, and an elbow. Khabib passes into half guard, dos Anjos regains guard again. Khabib lands some rights to the body. Khabib stands up and comes down with a right hand and lands a left as dos Anjos gets up and the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Nurmagomedov, 20-18 Nurmagomedov overall

ROUND THREE: Dos Anjos coming forward to star the round. Khabib lands a body kick. Dos Anjos pushes forward, lands a body kick. They clinch up, Khabib gets the body lock and has dos Anjos against the fence. Khabib grabs a single, lands a left elbow and tries another takedown. Khabib can't complete the takedown this time. They trade body kicks, dos Anjos shoots and gets Khabib against the fence. Khabib uses a judo throw and dumps dos Anjos on his back. Khabib has top position in half guard. Dos Anjos regains full guard, which he closes. Khabib lands a left hand, a series of them now. Khabib passes into half guard, dos Anjos tries a sweep, Khabib avoids it and retains top position. Khabib lands a couple of hard elbows. Dos Anjos tries an armbar, Khabib pulls out and lands a big right. Dos Anjos tries to regain his feet, Khabib gets the body lock from the back and drags him to the mat again. Hard right hands from Khabib and Khabib holds top position. The fight is going to end with Khabib throwing some punches from top position.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Nurmagomedov, 30-27 Nurmagomedov overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Khabib Nurmagomedov by unanimous decision (30-27x3)

That wraps up the prelims and we're onto big daddy FOX. Kurt Menefee, Chael Sonnen, and Brian Stann are at the big desk and give their thoughts and picks for the main card.

Middleweight Bout: Yoel Romero (185.5) vs. Brad Tavares (185)

ROUND ONE: Touch of the gloves, and Romero starts southpaw. Tavares connects with a right. Body kick from Romero. Inside leg kick from Romero. Romero lands a straight left, he follows up with a flurry and takes Tavares down. Tavares on all fours, Romero has front head lock position. Tavares on his feet and looking for a single leg. Romero grabs a kimura, uses it to turn Tavares. Romero with a huge lateral throw and lands in side control. Tavares manages to get to his feet, Romero keeps a body lock and has the back standing. Romero tries for a kimura to break the grip. Romero drags Tavares back down, Tavares regains his feet. Romero knees the thighs, Tavares manages to turn into him, Romero drops for a single. They trade some punches and break apart. Romero tries a hook kick, closes distance and hits an inside trip to take Tavares down again. Tavares gets a single attempt, Romero spins to the back and has a crucifix position to end the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Romero

ROUND TWO: Romero shoots immediately and gets another takedown, this time into half guard. Romero passes into side control without effort. Tavares pushes up to his feet. Head kick from Romero is blocked, Tavares throws a knee. Tavares lands a right hand. Romero lands an elbow as Tavares comes forward. They trade body kicks. Romero jumps in and lands a left hand and they clinch against the fence. Romero fights and lands a couple of punches before dropping again and getting the body lock. Romero hits an armdrag version, Tavares tries to turn it into a takedown and has a single. Romero locks up a leg and the ref wants action. Romero grabs a kimura and uses it to roll Tavares. Romero grabs a leg, lands a short punch and they break apart. Tavares tries a flying knee, lands a right hand and they clinch up again. Romero snaps him down and gets the clinch against the fence. The round ends like that.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Romero, 20-18 Romero overall

ROUND THREE: They hug to start the third. Tavares misses a head kick. Romero with a push kick to the leg. Tavares shoots, Romero sprawls easily and has a front head lock against the cage. Romero lands some knees in the clinch and gets the body lock again. Tavares fights for underhooks and pushes Romero off. They trade some kicks. Tavares pushes forward but his strikes are missing. Romero lands a straight left. Romero shoots a huge double leg and dumps Tavares. Romero moves towards the back as Tavares tries to regain his feet. Tavares is up but Romero has the clinch against the fence. Ref breaks them up for inactivity. Tavares with an inside leg kick. Tavares misses a wheel kick. Romero lands a left hand and hits another throw into side control. He ends the round with a couple of elbows.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Romero, 30-27 Romero overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Yoel Romero by unanimous decision (30-27x3)

No interview for Romero, kind of a shame given the Cuban population. This was Romero's first fight to go the distance. Here's some of the takedowns from the fight, impressive stuff from the Olympic silver medalist.

The UFC is giving us some kind of promo for UFC 172 at every opportunity, not that I'm complaining mind you.

Lightweight Bout: Edson Barboza (156) vs. Donald Cerrone (155.5)

ROUND ONE: Touch of the gloves and we're going right away. They start swinging and Cerrone gets clipped and shoots. They wind up clinched against the fence and they break away. Inside leg kick from Barboza lands. Barboza lands another counter right, and a push kick to the body. Leg kick from Barboza. Barboza lands a counter left hook and a kick to the body. Cerrone lands a leg kick, Barboza lands a big right hand and a left behind it. Spinning back kick to the body from Barboza. Barboza lands a switch kick to the body and a left to the body behind it. Cerrone lands a big left jab that drops Barboza, Cerrone gets his back and sinks the rear naked choke for the submission victory.

Cerrone gets an interview. Cerrone says he wanted to stand with Barboza, that he "curred up" and went for a takedown and mentally cursed himself.

Women's Bantamweight Bout: Liz Carmouche (135) vs. Miesha Tate (135.5)

ROUND ONE: Touch of the gloves. Carmouche misses a leg kick. Carmouche lands a leg kick. Tate lands a jab to counter a front kick. Body kick from Tate lands, superman punch misses. They clinch up and Carmouche pushes Tate into the fence. Tate spins Carmouche into the cage. Carmouch gets the body lock and tries a trip, adjusts and gets a double leg. Carmouche technically has mount, but Tate is sitting against the fence and Carmouche is sitting on her legs. Tate works towards a guillotine choke, bails on it. Carmouche gets the back as Tate stands up, Carmouche has the body lock still as they stand. Tate thinks about a throw, can't finish it. Carmouche moves to the front and again takes Tate down. Again Carmouche is sitting on the legs, Tate stands up and grabs a kimura. Carmouche gets her arm free and holds the back still. Tate tries another kimura, Carmouche kicks the legs out from Tate and winds up on top in half guard landing some hammerfists.

SCORECARDS: 10-9 Carmouche

ROUND TWO: Tate lands a straight right hand. Carmouche lands a left hook and shoots. Tate grabs the neck, Carmouche pulls her head and pushes Tate into the fence. Tate tries a takedown, Carmouche defends the first one. Tate tries a single leg, bails on it and keeps Carmouche pressed into the fence. They break and land a couple of punches each. Tate lands a left in close, Carmouche pushes her into the fence and looks for a single leg. Carmouche pull her out and down to the mat. Tate regains her feet, Carmouche still has the body lock tight and hits another takedown, this time again tying up the legs. Tate tries to regain her feet, Carmouche sucks her legs out again. Tate looks for a guillotine, Carmouche defends and they wind up against the fence again. Tate has the head locked up and is working towards the choke. Tate drops down and tries to finish the choke. Carmouche rolls over, Tate keeps the position and starts punching as they stand up. Tate gives up her back, Carmouche has the back standing to end the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Tate, 19-19 overall

ROUND THREE: Tate lands a one-two off of a leg kick. Tate shoots, and they're clinched against the fence. Carmouche lands some elbows, Tate tries to get a takedown but Carmouche regains her feet, Tate takes her down again and this time into side control. Tate working for the mounted crucifix, Carmouche tries to use the wall to get up. Carmouche can't regain her feet but does get half guard. Carmouche gives up her back and Tate looks for the choke. Tate has one hook it and is hand fighting for the choke. Tate gets her hands together and cranks for a second, Carmouche defends that position but Tate remains in position and throwing punches. Tate tries the choke again, still can't quite finish it. Tate has both hooks in now. Carmouche finally gets up but gives up the neck and Tate sinks in the choke. Carmouche hand fights and breaks it. Tate goes for it again, again Carmouche fights off a hand and survives. Tate transitions towards an armbar, Carmouche escapes but the round ends with Tate on top.

SCORECARD: 10-8 Tate, 29-27 Tate overall

Heavyweight Bout: Travis Browne (245.5) vs. Fabricio Werdum (232.5))

ROUND ONE: No touch of the gloves to start, Browne lands a leg kick and Werdum counters with a straight right. Browne just misses a head kick. They clinch up and Browne lands some knees to the body. Werdum misses a combination, Browne hits a right hand but goes off balance. Browne hits another right hand and tries to finish Browne on the ground. Werdum survives and gets a double leg into half guard. Werdum tries to set up an arm triagle, Browne defends it. Werdum tries to get it again, Browne defends, Werdum tries to get his back and Browne escapes to his feet. Browne lands a body kick. Browne pushes close and tries to knee. Werdum lands a jab. Body kick from Werdum lands. Werdum lands a combination and a leg kick. Browne catches the leg kick and backs Werdum into the cage Browne hits a wheel kick of all things. They trade some punches, Werdum lands an inside leg kick and an uppercut. Werdum tries a spinning back kick to the body, Werdum catches Browne with a right hand to end the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Werdum

ROUND TWO: Browne looks tired already. Werdum lands a kick to the groin, Browne just wants to keep going. Werdum lands a couple of hard leg kicks, Browne with a high kick, Werdum with a body kick. Werum gets another takedown and they're against the fence. Browne has given up his back but he's trying to stand up. Werdum tries a choke, Browne turns into him and Werdum is in half guard. Werdum trying to pass, and does into side control. Werdum tries an armlock, bails on it. Werdum lands some punches. Werdum goes for an armbar, his grip slips and Browne regains his feet. Werdum stays close and they break. Browne is gassed pretty badly. Werdum lands a jab. Browne lands a left hook. Werdum tries another wheel kick that misses, ends the round by landing a knee to the body.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Werdum, 20-18 Werdum overall

ROUND THREE: Inside leg kick from Werdum, and a punching combination that lands pretty flush. Browne misses an overhand right. Werdum throws a spinning backfist that glances Browne. Browne lands a jab. Werdum tries a spinning sweep. Body kick from Werdum lands. Werdum is overwhelming Browne at this point. They clinch against the fence, Werdum breaks away. Browne switches southpaw and lands a left. They clinch again, Werdum gets the Thai clinch and starts unloading against the fence. Browne pushes him away once the ref warns him about possibly being stopped. Werdum gets another takedown, Browne hits some elbows and pushes Werdum into the fence. Browne pulls away and misses an uppercut. Werdum lands a jab. Browne is incredibly gassed out right now, everything is in slow motion from him. Werdum lands a knee to the jaw and a jab behind it. Werdum misses a high kick. Body kick from Werdum lands. Werdum lands a hard combination to end the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Werdum, 30-27 Werdum overall

ROUND FOUR: Werdum lands a double jab and a leg kick. Browne misses a lunging left. Werdum landing a jab pretty much at will. Werdum lands a right hand. Body kick lands for Werdum. Browne lands a right hand and a body kick that strays into the cup. Werdum takes a moment and we're back to fighting. Browne lands a right hand. Werdum grabs a single and tries a takedown, Browne stuffs it but eats a couple of punches. Werdum lands a right to counter Browne as he was moving in. Browne lands a right hand, then just misses two head kicks. They circle to end the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Browne, 39-37 Werdum overall

ROUND FIVE: Werdum shoots again, Browne gets up immediately. Thrust kicks to the body from Browne. Werdum lands a jab, Browne misses a right hand. Werdum lands a couple of right hands. Leg kick from Browne. Werdum shoots, stuffed easily. Browne misses a big left hook. Werdum lands a combination. Werdum lands a hard right hand, and another one. Werdum pushes forward with a combination and ends with a hard body kick. Browne misses a head kick. Werdum is jabbing from the outside. Browne hits a leaping left hook, misses the follow up. Browne needs a finish in the final 30 seconds. Browne throws a wheel kick. Werdum fakes a shot, Browne charges with a right that misses as the fight ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Werdum, 49-46 Werdum overall
