A high kick almost levels Mishma, he follows with a cartwheel kick to Florian and then up kicks, gets the leg of Florian and almost hyper-extends the leg of Florian. He keeps the leg lock applied, Florian tries to counter out and Mishima gets some rights. Florian finally escapes and lands a lot of rights to Mishima, gets his back and flattens him out, grabs a choke and THAT will be all.
-The Result: Florian, RD 3, Submission via Rear Naked Choke
-Rogan is with Kenny Florian. He says he has really improved. Florian explains that he has been working on everything to get to his best. You will see a new Kenny Florian from now on. Florian looks at the replay and says he was close to tapping, but only if his knee touched his ass. He trained to hard to tap too quick. He puts over Mishima and his Samurai Spirit~!
-We get an advert for UFC 69, this Saturday! I will be here with LIVE play by play of that as well. Also, Michael Huckaby will have LIVE coverage of the PRIDE show late this weekend as well!
-They remind us that Kit Cope is still on Spike with some wacky sports show. Rampage kills one of the guys on the show, tremendous. It is called Wild World of Spike.
-Up next is Antoni Hardonk vs. Justin McCully. We see then back in the locker rooms and SAMOA JOE is with McCully~!
-We see Hardonk and McCully warming up backstage, and go to a video package for the fight.
HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT - Antoni Hardonk vs. Justin McCully:
-Pre-Fight Prediction: Hardonk, TKO, RD 2
-The Fight: ROUND ONE: High kick early by Hardonk, McCully runs him into the cage and Hardonk gets some knee shots. Knees by McCully now as they trade the knees. McCully looks for a takedown, but they still remain against the cage. McCully gets a single leg takedown and into the mount. Rights from the bottom by Hardonk, McCully keeps him against the cage and then gets some light rights. McCully has good position but is not doing much. He gets on his feet and keeps position, and then drops back down to try more of an attack. Lefts and rights to Hardonk, works for side control and Hardonk grabs the arm and almost locks in an arm bar, but McCully gets side control for a moment but back on top. McCully with a few elbow shots from the guard and then a left. Hardonk finally grabs the arm which McCully has been leaving there all round long but McCully escapes at the end of the round.
LARRY'S SCORE CARD: McCully had control a lot of the round but never did much. Hardonk also had submission chances but never took advantage. Close round, I will go McCully 10-9.
ROUND TWO: They clinch early in round 2 and to the cage they go ala round 1. McCully gets a nice trip on Hardonk and into the guard. McCully works a few shots, and Hardonk looks for a triangle as McCully leaves the arm out for grabs again. Hardonk has no good submission skills to take advantage of it though. McCully is finally getting some good shots from the top and then gives the arm away again. McCully to his feet and tries to drop a bomb, but misses. A good elbow by McCully as Tito screams instructions. Hardonk looks to be cut, McCully with some more rights. Hardonk tries to push off, but McCully with some more shots all connecting. Both guys are tired as McCully lands a combo from the mount. A nice left connects as Hardonk's face starts to look bad. Hardonk latches on with the arms and legs, trying to stop the shots but McCully out and lands more as he also pushes him against the fence. McCully lands shots at will, nothing big but still working and connecting as round 2 ends.
LARRY'S SCORE CARD: McCully still left his arm out there, but easily dominated the round. 10-9 for McCully.
ROUND THREE: Hardonk gets a leg kick and combo to begin the round. McCully closes in, locks in the clinch and they go against the cage again like the other rounds. They trade some knees and then away from the cage. Hardonk tries to push him off, gets a knee to the body and another. Some combos by Hardonk and he is landing solid stuff. A nice knee connects by McCully takes him down, he had to as he would have been in trouble there. Hardonk tries to grab the left arm, but cannot do anything with it. McCully in the mount again and pushes Hardonk into the fence. Both guys are gassed and McCully finally gets side control. McCully lands a few shots, nothing that big. Hardonk works for an escape but McCully keeps him down. McCully lands a good left and maintains control. Both guys throw shots from the top and bottom, nothing dangerous and the time expires.
LARRY'S SCORE CARD: McCully didn't do a lot, but enough to win the round and the fight. I go 30-27, although I could easily see an argument for 29-28, with Hardonk getting round 1.
-The Result: Justin McCully, Unanimous Decision, 30-27 Across the Cards
-Joe is with McCully. He was freaked, but wanted to make his debut so badly and even on short notice he was able to win due to Team Punishment. Timing is everything, and this was his time. "Well shit, this guy is getting some elbows." I like this guy. He admits he was stuck in that arm bar bad, but wasn't about to give up.
-Back from commercial and Joe is with BJ Penn and Jens Pulver, the coaches of TUF V. Jens says this isn't WWE, this isn't fake, and he hates BJ and wants to fight him so bad. Jens says BJ doesn't respect him the right way. BJ yawns and Joe says they have a bitter rivalry, and BJ almost beat Jens once. BJ says things happen and Jens says he will knock his teeth out, well BJ says he will break Jens shoulder. BJ says he never disrespected him, but hey, what ever it takes to get a fire lit under Jens for the fight is fine. Jens puts over the series and says he is happy with the show and the fights are great. BJ says he wouldn't do it again. You want to do a good job but there is so much to do. BJ prefers training himself. Jens will go out banging for their fight. BJ won't make predictions, but he will kick his ass. Tremendous.
-We get a video package for Kurt Pellegrino vs. Nate Mohr.
LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT - Kurt Pellegrino vs. Nate Mohr:
-Pre-Fight PredictionMohr, TKO, RD1:
-The Fight: ROUND ONE: They circle, leg kicks by Mohr and then catches Pellegrino with a good right. Pellegrino in, Mohr keeps striking with some knees. Pellegrino grabs a leg, takes him down and works side control. Pellegrino takes his time, works to the mount and gets some good shots on Mohr. Pellegrino stays in control, gets an elbow and back to mount. To his feet, catches an up kick, drops down into an ankle lock, Mohr kicks for a second and then taps.
Pellegrino then break dances in victory.
-The Result: Kurt Pellgrino via RD 1 Submission (Knee Bar/Ankle Lock)
-Joe is with Pellgrino. Joe tells him he has a big boogey in his nose, classy. Pellgrino talks us through the leg lock, he says he popped his leg 3 or 4 times. He says he is staying at 155, and he and Hermes Franca will rule the division.
-They aired a commercial for the Dana vs. Tito fight special, for the fight that didn't happen.
-We get a video package for Joe Stevenson vs. Melvin Guillard.
LIGHWEIGHT BOUT - Joe Stevenson vs. Melvin Guillard:
-The Fight: ROUND ONE: Guillard didn't want to tap the hand to begin, ohhhhhhhh! They come out jabbing, Joe catches Guillard with a straight left and looks for a leg lock early. He then snags a guillotine tight and Guillard TAPS out! That was maybe 25-seconds.
Guillard is pissed at himself.
-The Result: Joe Stevenson, Rd 1 (0:27) Submission (Guillotine Choke)
-Rogan is with Stevenson. Rogan says there was a lot of talk, and Stevenson says he was nervous and it could have gone the other way just as quick. Stevenson gets on his knees and then says thanks to all the troops. Stevenson walks us through the replay. He got a nice left, he says the choke was too good to be true and had to lock it up. Hopefully his wife appreciates that he didn't get hit tonight.
-Mike Goldberg reminds us that the Ultimate Fighter V is right after this show. Also, weigh-ins for UFC 69 at 4pm EST tomorrow on UFC.com.
-Goldberg and Rogan hype UFC 69 one last time, Serra vs. GSP as the main event as well as Koshcheck vs. Sanchez. Remember, I will be here with LIVE play by play of that as well. Also, Michael Huckaby will have LIVE coverage of the PRIDE show late this weekend as well!
-We see Melvin in the back being consoled in his loss. Rogan said he just got caught, he's young and will fight another day.
-The Ultimate Fighter V is up next, stay tuned!
