All Access: Randy Couture

Rachelle Leah welcomes us to Las Vegas and the home of UFC Legend Randy Couture! She knocks on the door and Couture answers the door and they hug. Awwwwwwww. They discuss his UFC career early on and the fact that he was supposed to lose to VITOR. He says that set the stage for his career. He then took out Pedro Rizzo and was set. He then reinvented himself as a light heavyweight and captured gold in both divisions when he beat Tito for the title. We then see him retiring after losing to Chuck Liddell. But one year later he came back as he wanted to compete, and would challenge Tim Sylvia for the UFC heavyweight title. We see the opening of the bout and his DROPPING big Tim. Couture says he got the job done when no one gave him a change. He has defied the odds, but now Gabriel Gonzaga is the new challenge.

-Couture has been living in the new place for 4-months. He has a sweet pad and they have sweet bikes, custom bikes as wedding gifts. We see the HUMMER he got for doing TUF One. It's a sweet one, all custom , I want this car! We head inside the house for UFC CRIBZ~! We see before and after pics of the place, and it is just awesome. We head upstairs to see the cabinet where all of his titles and the UFC HOF plaque is. His kid has some wacky flying Australian Squirrel, what the hell is that? Off to the pool and Jacuzzi area and we meet the wife. But NOW it is time to train!

Back from commercial and we head to XTREME COUTURE! Rachelle is looking very hot but I digress. They start the clock and Couture heads into his training session. They say he heads into camp IN SHAPE and camp is to fine tune and add to his cardio. They change up the drills and workouts by the week and the man is an animal. They try to work every scenario, and we see Randy doing some kickboxing. Couture says his striking has improves so much and that has been a key. He melds and meshes his techniques and what he knows and what he has learned. The Sylvia fight taught him a lot and proved to himself that he could stand and strike at will.

-Off to Sky Zone, a place with wall-to-wall trampolines. He has been doing this for 18-months. It is low impact but requires more energy to run on a trampoline. 30% more energy in fact. He says 20-minutes can kill you. Tons of World Class athletes come to this place and the owners say he out does these athletes. This place is awesome! Couture loves it because of the low impact it is better for his joints.

-We head off to a photo shoot now, and the media is a part of the training, and it has to be juggled perfectly. Couture says this is a new dimension to the game that wasn't a concern 10-years ago. He says he wishes he didn't have to do it, but it is business and is now a part of the routine.

Back from commercial and we see how Couture relaxes. He used to ride dirt bikes as a kid and now it is custom made bikes. He would say wind in his hair, but, you know. It is very relaxing to him and comforts him. They ride to Red Rock National Park and he went there to run. 11.4 miles and it take shim 2.5 hours. This man is a beat for 43, I have to reiterate that fact.

-Now he does non-stop, fast, circuit training. This is all strength and conditioning and this is why Couture never gets tired. Couture says this is vital because he tries to outwork his opponents and make they quit or give up in that aspect and that allows him the advantage. The strength coach makes him work harder than ever. He says the circuit is a meshing of everything he would do, but this is one large circuit. As they get closer to the fight, the rest periods get lower so when he gets a one-minute rest in the fight it feels like a lifetime.

Back from commercial and he says XTREME COUTURE was made to make the best fighters with a team feel. They take care of each other and Forrest and others say Couture is the guy next door. They unwind after a hard day of training at the ranch with billiards and BBQ. He has get together's once or twice a week and it is a way to be kind and help these guys, since he didn't have that. Couture says, "I'm a heavyweight son, I eat what ever the hell I want." But seriously, he eats a lot of greens, no dairy and stays away from fats. His success is due to faith and passion. At some point he will have to stop, but that is not real soon. Rachelle thanks Couture as they play billiards.
