Elite XC: Renegade ~!:
-My predictions are in the news column, we'll see how I do this time.
-LIVE from Corpus Christi Texas!
-411's Bren Oliver tells me the arena is 85% full.
-We get a wacky opening dance number, with chick dancers and a due doing crazy back flips.
-Mauro Ranallo welcomes us to the show. Stephen Quadros is with him and they hype up the 160lb weight class. They say it is made to help the health of the fighters, so they don't have to cut weight. Or it is to give Nick Diaz an advantage, but whatever.
-They then move to talk of KIMBO SLICE. Bill Goldberg met with him earlier today, and KIMBO says he is focused, prepared and well trained. KIMBO says a fight is a fight, you make sacrifices and he is ready. Goldberg asks where Kevin Ferguson end and KIMBO begins. Kevin stays at home, and KIMBO comes to fight and earn the money.
-They run down the card.
-We get videos for Antonio Silva vs. Jonathan Wiezorek.
-They have the rain set again.
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT - Antonio Silva (8-1) vs. Jonathan Wiezorek (11-1):
-The Fight: ROUND ONE: Kerry Hatley is the official. Silva is down to 265, the heavyweight limit. Here we go with a battle of the HOSSES! They come out, jab a bit and Wiezorek in, a combo by Silva and that keeps Wiezorek back. Wiezorek shoots in, and Silva avoids him. Hard body kick by Silva, a leg kick and then Wiezorek shoots, they clinch and Silva starts to rock him with a combo, Wiezorek down and in north south, and Silva starts to unload on him. Hammer fists by Silva, he has the back and into a side control position. Wiezorek tries for guard, but Silva stars to rain down again with shots. Silva gets him close to the cage and has the back, starts to rain down again and into the mount now. Hammer fists by Silva, Wiezorek turns to his stomach and Silva gets the hooks in, a choke and Wiezorek taps!
-The Result: Antonio Silva via RD1 (3:12) Submission
Bill Goldberg is with Silva. Silva says he was ready. We see replays.
-They hype SHO.COM and PROELITE.COM.
-We get videos for Seth Kleinbeck vs. Kyle Noke.
MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT – Dr. Seth Kleinbeck (8-3) vs. Kyle Noke (13-3-1 DRAW):
-The Fight: ROUND ONE: The official is Steve Armstrong, not of the famed wrestling Armstrong family. They come out and dance a bit, leg kicks by Kleinbeck. A combo by Kleinbeck, works the jabs and misses a leg kick. Lands another, a second and then a good jab. Another leg kick and string right by Kleinbeck. Noke with a leg kick, and a strong jab staggers Kleinbeck. Leg kick by Kleinbeck, both work jabs now and a leg kick by Noke, Kleinbeck catches it and a takedown. Kleinbeck in the half guard, Noke controls the guard but Kleinbeck lands some good shots now. Noke is working for an arm bar, almost has it but Kleinbeck escapes. Kleinbeck tries to stay busy with punches, but Noke locks in an arm bar now. Lands some shots with it and had to give it up. Shoulder shrugs by Kleinbeck, and Kleinbeck stands, which was smart. Superman punch by Noke, countered by Kleinbeck. A combo by Kleinbeck, and both leg kick at the same time. Round one ends.
LARRY'S SCORECARD: A very close round. It depends on if you score for counters and such. Kleinbeck got the takedown, and looked to do more and I think he gets the round 10-9.
ROUND TWO: Round two begins and a jab by Kleinbeck. Noke shoots and takes down Kleinbeck, Kleinbeck with good counters but Noke gets mount out of it. He gets the back of Kleinbeck, lands shots and has the hooks, choke almost locked in and Kleinbeck was able to turn out. Noke lands some shots, works for the choke and Kleinbeck turns and escapes that, but Noke is still in control. Noke works for that choke again, and Kleinbeck turns and into the guard of Noke. Noke busy in the guard, looking for the arm again and they get stood up. Questionable there I think. They both throw jabs, and a leg kick by Kleinbeck. Noke shoots, gets the takedown and is in the guard of Kleinbeck. Kleinbeck looks for a kimura, Noke escapes and slides Kleinbeck towards the cage. Noke lands body shots, elbows and Kleinbeck is cut over the left eye. Noke works good shots from the top, has Kleinbeck against the cage and they get stood up. They have the doctor check the cut is what is happening. That's a vagina there. They stop the fight.
-The Result: Kyle Noke via RD2 (4:22) via doctor's stoppage (TKO)
Bill Goldberg is with Noke. He offers him congrats, and Noke says he is used to fighting in front of small crowds, but this was cool. Noke gives a shout out to the Aussie fans. He walks us through some replays. He is disappointed he had to win this way.
-FYI, two of three judges gave Kleinbeck round one.
-Pyle was offered a Welterweight title match, but declined and is planning to leave the promotion due to differences with management.
-We get videos for Jake Shields vs. Mike Pyle.
WELTERWEIGHT BOUT - Jake Shields (19-4-1 DRAW) vs. Mike Pyle (14-4-1 DRAW):
-The Fight: ROUND ONE: The official is Kerry Hatley. Couture is on the corner of Pyle, who trains with XTREME Couture. Shields shoots, Pyle stuffs him, gets a knee and looks for a guillotine, but Shields escapes. Pyle against the fence, they stand and clinch. Knees by Pyle, foot stomps by Shields. They break and Shields shoots and they go down. Back to the feet, trip takedown by Pyle and Shields turns it into the guard. Pyle works shots from the bottom, against the fence and body shots by Shields. Shields works off the fence and gets shoulder shrugs. Pyle is working, gets a rubber guard and Shields in half guard works the body shots. Shields to side control, into mount and then gets the back of Pyle; Shields gets a choke and Pyle taps.
-The Result: Jake Shields via RD1 (3:39) submission
Bill Goldberg is with Shields. Bill asks if he is pissed that this wasn't for the welterweight title. Shields is pissed he says. He then says the knee didn't hurt him early, and then Shields talks us through the replay. That's 10 in a row for Shields.
-BAS is with KIMBO~!
-We see clips of Elite XC in 2007, and how they "put MMA on the map." That's news to me.
-We get videos for Kimbo Slice vs. Bo Cantrell.
HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT – Kimbo Slice (0-0) vs. Bo Cantrell (10-10):
-The Fight: ROUND ONE: The official is Steve Armstrong. Round one is underway and a back fist by Cantrell misses. Kimbo stalks him, they trade and a BIG body shot by Kimbo drops Cantrell and then he gets top, drops shots and that is all. Shit. Cantrell actually tapped BEFORE Kimbo hit the ground shots. That's a little suspect…
-The Result: Kimbo Slice via RD 1 (0:19) TKO
Bill Goldberg is with Kimbo. He thanks Christ, Texas and he says he will be back. Kimbo talks us through the replay. Kimbo says whoever is next is next.
-We get hype for Noons vs. Diaz.
-We now get videos for Noons vs. Diaz.
ELITE XC LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT – Nick Diaz (15-6) vs. KJ Noons (4-1):
-The Fight: ROUND ONE: The official is Kerry Hatley. Noons comes out and gets a good body shot to begin. Diaz shoots, to the cage and tries a single leg, Noons escapes and they trade shots. Another good body shot and uppercut by Noons. Left hook by Noons, they clinch but break. Leg kicks by Diaz and Noons back to the body, and then stuffs a takedown by Diaz. Noons back to the body but Diaz with a jab. High kick lands light by Diaz. Noons gets a good right, Diaz shoots, eats a knee but manages a takedown on Noons. Diaz is cut, Noons with a sweet escape and they call time as Diaz has a cut. The doctor checks him, and he can go. It is in a bad place, on the eyelid, but not too bad. Noons keeps jabbing, leg kicks by Diaz and Noons DROPS Diaz with a right, lands shots from the top and Diaz tries to get him to come on the ground, but Noons stands back and lets him stand. Diaz has another cut and is down again as Noons stuffs a takedown. Diaz up and lands a good combo. Noons is swinging hard, missing and Diaz gets some jabs. Noons with a good straight right, avoids a head kick and sprawls and stuffs a takedown by Diaz. Against the cage, and Diaz works for the takedown, but the round ends.
LARRY'S SCORECARD: Diaz is bleeding a lot from the cuts, and Noons clearly dominated the round with punishing shots and great counters of the takedowns. 10-9 for Noons.
They have stopped the fight as the doctor checked Diaz in between rounds. Diaz is PISSED. He leaves the cage and flips off the cage. Quadros says the cut over the eye was very bad, and he was bleeding from a few different cuts. We see Diaz backstage, and he looks bad. He hits a camera.
-The Result: NEW LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION KJ Noons via RD1 (5:00) TKO
Bill Goldberg is with Noons, and his new title belt. Goldberg puts over fighter safety and the Doctor is here to discuss things. He says Diaz couldn't see well enough, and for the safety of Diaz, he stopped the fight. Now with Noons, he felt he had more power and such due to the weight limit. He knows the fans aren't happy. He fought and trained hard, and respects Diaz. He thanks mom, dad, and the girlfriend. He then talks us through the replay.
-Ranallo and Quadros put over Noons, and the fact that he did lose to Krazy Horse, but came back and took out Diaz. Diaz had said in interviews that he would only lose if he got cut. Well, yeah.
-Goldberg joins them and they discuss Kimbo's debut. Goldberg then goes back to Noons and says he has balls, worked hard and was an underdog and then won the title. Goldberg is impressed.
