411’s The Ultimate Fighter 7 Report 4.30.08: Episode 5

The Ultimate Fighter 7 is back this week with....a lot of nothing. Jeremy angers a southern boy by messing with his chewing dip and Dante takes on Brandon in a battle of boringness. Plus Quinton Jackson goes on a RAMPAGE~! Sort of.


The Ultimate Fighter 7: Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest
Episode 5

Previously: Tim defeated Matthew to put Team Forrest up 2-0. Rampage got frustrated with Matthew for not following instructions.

Opening Video

They talk about the Tim vs. Matthew fight. First round was close, Matthew was doing well on his feet in the second but took him down and that was where he lost.

As they get back to the house after the fight, Jeremy locks Matthew out of the house. Jeremy is pissed that he's not getting laid in the house. Jeremy pisses off Jesse by throwing things at him and Jesse gets frustrated.

At Team Rampage training, MICHAEL BISPING SHOWS UP! Weird that Bisping could potentially fight one of these guys at 185. Bisping spares with a few of the guys and pretty much owns them. Bisping gives guys some advice about surviving the house. Jeremy has a feeling that he'll be picked to fight next. At Team Forrest training, Forrest tells Matt not to hurt anyone during sparring. Everyone likes his intensity during training though.

Back at the house, Jeremy puts lime juice in the chewing dip of Matt. The rest of Team Rampage doesn't think this is a good idea because Matt would probably beat him up. Matt finds out about the joke and is pissed. He tells Jeremy that they're fighting next.

At the fight selection, Forrest picks Dante to fight Brandon. Matt says he'll fight Jeremy next if Team Forrest wins and retains control.

Rampage says that Brandon is tough and that he wants to stand and bang. Brandon is a former Marine sniper so he's been in pressure situations before. Cameron, a Team Forrest coach, took some excellent notes and points out to Dante what Brandon did wrong in his elimination fight. Forrest likes this fight for Dante but doesn't like that Dante is the smaller man.

Tournament Fight: Dante Rivera (Team Forrest) vs. Brandon Sene (Team Rampage)

Round 1: Dante goes for a quick clinch and pushes him up against the fence. Dante works and gets the trip takedown into side control. Dante tries to control him but Brandon slips out and up to his feet. Dante once again gets a clinch against the fence. Brandon reverses him and puts him against the fence. Body shots by Brandon. Dante tries for the trip takedown again but can't get it. Knees to the body by Brandon. The ref separates them. Dante goes for a single leg but Brandon sprawls. Dante puts him against the cage and gets the takedown into guard. Dante locks in a heel hook but Brandon pulls out. Dante gets side control as the round ends. Not too much of a round but I've got to give it to Dante.

Round 2: Brandon tags Dante with a jab but that doesn't stop Dante from getting another clinch. Dante holds him against the cage as Brandon knees and punches the body. The ref tells them to stop just as Dante gets the takedown so then he tells them to continue to fight. Why do I think Dante will finish the fight now? Dante gets half guard and lands some punches. Brandon works back to his feet but Dante still has a hold of his body. Trip takedown by Dante lands him in half-guard. Brandon throws more punches from the bottom than Dante does from the top. Brandon sweeps and ends up in side control on Dante. Dante puts him in half guard. Brandon throws short elbows. Brandon tries to pass to mount as the round ends. Brandon probably won with the ending flurry.

Round 3: Dante clinches and puts Brandon against the cage. Knees to the body by Brandon. The ref breaks them. Brandon actually tries to clinch with Dante. Dante pushes him against the cage and scores with a double leg into guard. Brandon once again does more from the bottom than Dante does on top. Dante passes to side control. Dante throws short punches from the position followed by knees to the body. Dante holds him down as the round ends.

Dana talks about the fight. He said that Brandon really worked hard in the clinch and on his back. "Dante did a little bit of ground and pound. Emphasis on a little bitle," says Forrest. Dana thinks Brandon won based on damage and work. Dana said that neither guy looked impressive.

Winner – Dante Rivera by Decision

Dante says he feels good but wanted to finish the fight. Dana says that fights are scored differently by different judges but thinks it should be based more on damage and if that were the case, Brandon would have won.

Rampage gets PISSED about the decision. "I used to go to anger management classes but they made me angry." He goes outside and knocks over a parking sign. He tells Brandon that he won that fight and did more damage. All of Team Rampage say that Brandon won. Team Forrest congratulates Dante. Forrest didn't think it was a bad decision and that Dante controlled the fight.

They pick next weeks fight, this week and Forrest picks Matt to fight Jeremy. "If Chuck Norris was a real person and not an evil alien robot, he'd be Matt Brown," says Forrest. They have an extra long staredown as the show ends.

Next Week: THE GRYDGE MATCH IS ON~! Someone predicts Matt by murde. There's also going to be another fight.

Show Comments: Not much going on this week. The in house stuff with Jeremy and Matt built more towards next weeks fight than anything and the actual fight between Dante and Brandon was pretty boring. Based on damage I thought Brandon easily won but we all know that if you can take and hold your opponent down, no matter how little damage you do, chances are you'll win the fight. Next week looks promising with 2 fights and one being Matt vs. Jeremy.
