ELITE XC: Return of the King 6.14.08~!
-LIVE from Honolulu Hawaii!
-Mauro Ranallo, Stephen Quadros and Bill Goldberg are our hosts for the event. They discuss that Noons was once a part of Edwards training camp.
-We see Edwards and Noons arriving earlier today.
-We now get video packages for Rafael Feijao vs. Wayne Cole.
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT - Rafael Feijao (5-1) vs. Wayne Cole (11-6):
ROUND ONE: The official is Mario Yamasaki. They touch and here we go. Leg kicks by Feijao, a combo by Cole and they clinch. Feijao gets a takedown, Cole to a knee and back up. To the cage they go, knees by Feijao working the inner thigh. A nice left by Feijao and another. Back to the knees to the thigh, dirty boxing and more knees by Feijao. They get separated by the ref, and Cole got kneed low is the reason. Cole takes some time, and we're back to action. Hard leg kicks by Feijao again, they clinch and Feijao keeps him against the fence and works the knees again. A great combo by Feijao, gets a great knee to counter a single leg, another knee and then hurts Cole with a left, has him down, Cole turtles and Feijao is rocking him big time from the back with punches (10 unanswered, 1 or 2 may have been to the back of the head) and Yamasaki stops it!
THE RESULT: Rafael Feijao via RD1 (2:47) TKO
Bill Goldberg is with Feijao, who knelt to Cole in respect. Classy. Feijao says Cole was very strong, and wanted to put on a good show for the fans. Feijao says Anderson Silva has meant everything to him, and he owes him everything. They watch the replay, and Feijao talks us through it a bit.
-Mauro is with Scott Smith. They discuss the Middleweight Title Bout from the CBS debut, and we get some video. Smith says the eye is great and his foot is fine as well, no break. He is ready to fight. He thought the fight was going how he thought it would go, a stand up war. They will have a rematch and Smith says he needs to make some changes to minimize the punishment. He is confident going into the rematch. It will be July 26th on CBS!
-We get video packages for Dave Herman vs. Ron Waterman.
HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT - Dave Herman (10-0) vs. Ron Waterman (15-5-2):
ROUND ONE: The official is Chris West. Here we go with the first round, they touch and leg kicks by Herman. Kicks to the gut by Herman, Waterman gets a takedown and pushes Herman to the cage. Mauro says there may have been an eye poke to Waterman. He has side control and then into the guard of Herman. Waterman tried a neck crank, now works the ground and pound. Solid rights by Waterman, he postures up and Herman gets to his feet. Waterman takes him back down, Herman back to his feet. Big roundhouse kick by Herman connects to the face of Waterman, he shrugs it off, Waterman shoots, big elbows by Herman as he stops it and then gets a knee to the side of Waterman. Full mount, ground and pound and the fight is stopped. Waterman's right eye is a mess.
THE RESULT: Dave Herman via RD 1 (2:19) TKO
Bill Goldberg is with Herman. Herman says he had fun, but didn't think he would be taken down so quickly. Goldberg asks if he will stop training by himself, and he said he may go somewhere for a few weeks. He jokes about making up the kick as he went along and then discusses the end of the fight.
-Quadros talked with Edwards earlier in the day. They talk about his comeback, and he says he made changes, got a new team and worked with better guys and is succeeding. He doesn't think the fight will be easy, but he feels he prepared well and is confident.
-We get video packages for Rua vs. Bonello.
MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT - Murilo "Ninja" Rua (15-8-1) vs. Tony Bonello (16-0-1):
ROUND ONE: The official is Mario Yamasaki with the REF CAM~! Bonello talks shit during the instructions. They come out, no touch and circle. High round house and then a combo by Bonello, body lock and Rua into the guard of Bonello. He gets some short elbows, works for side control and gets it. Elbows to the body, then to the head and controls easily. He drives some hard elbows from the crucifix position. Rua just dominating from side control, keeps dropping clean elbows to Bonello that maybe caving his face in. Full mount by Rua now, back to side and works more elbows. Bonello tries to block the elbows but is really failing. Rua with elbows to the body and the back to the head with more elbows. Knee on belly, postures up and drops BOMBS on Bonello, and the fight is stopped. Domination.
THE RESULT: Murilo "Ninja" Rua via RD 1 (3:16) TKO
Bill Goldberg is with Murilo "Ninja" Rua. Rua says that he thanks everyone that helped him, his wife, his kid and he wants his belt back.
-We see some pretty clips of Hawaii.
-Earlier today Quadros talked with Noons. He does get nervous, and that is part of the game. He know she is battling for respect, but he will showcase his skills and prove himself. Some people think he has no ground game, but he tries to do his best and is always entertaining. He knows as champion he is the underdog, but will do what he has to do.
-We get video packages for Diaz vs. Corbbrey.
168lb CATCH WEIGHT BOUT - Nick Diaz (16-7) vs. Muhsin Corbbrey (8-2):
ROUND ONE: The official is Chris West. They come out, no touch and both guys are careful. Leg kick by Corbbrey, misses a big right and Diaz gets a leg kick. Another to the body, jabs follow. Left by Diaz, jabs and Corbbrey comes back with a knee. Good rights by Diaz, a knee and they clinch. They trade knees, and a great left by Diaz backs off Corbbrey. Diaz connecting with rights, backing off Corbbrey. Clinch, body shots by both and they back off. Diaz with another clean right, clinch and they trade uppercuts. Diaz with the snapping jabs and then they trade leg kicks. Corbbrey is avoiding the clinch, but now starts to land. A good right by Corbbrey, they trade a bit and clinch and to the cage. Knees by Diaz, some dirty boxing but Corbbrey escapes. Good combo and body kick by Corbbrey. Uppercut by Diaz, small combo and then jabs by Diaz. An elbow connects for Diaz, Corbbrey tries to avoid but they clinch and rights by Diaz. Corbbrey shoves off, gets some solid rights and the round ends.
SCORECARD: A very "strategic" round is the best way to describe it. Diaz did what he does and landed the small shots continually, as well as some very solid ones and likely out pointed Corbbrey. Close round, but 10-9 for Diaz.
ROUND TWO: Round two begins, Diaz straight in with rights, good cut kick by Corbbrey. Clinch, to the cage they go and Diaz drops down for a takedown, Corbbrey works to stay up, single leg by Diaz is tried, he bails on that and a good elbow by Corbbrey. Diaz landing with the small shots, combo by Corbbrey and they trade as they clinch. Knee by Corbbrey, they separate and Diaz back to the short jabs that keep landing cleanly. Corbbrey with a knee from the clinch, they separate and a right by Corbbrey. Another good right but Diaz is still getting the jabs in clean. High kick by Diaz lands, not much on it. More jabs by Diaz, combo, small back fists and Diaz trash talks. Diaz starts to showboat, good right on Corbbrey and he answers back with one of his own. Overhand right by Corbbrey, they clinch and break right away. They clinch, Diaz works for a takedown but Corbbrey says up. To the cage, clinched and Diaz with some knees. Dirty boxing by both, they separate and a nice left by Diaz backs off Corbbrey. Clinch to the cage, Corbbrey blocks the knees but Diaz gets Corbbrey down. Side control by Diaz, and the round ends.
SCORECARD: More of the same from Diaz, Corbbrey has no real answer for him and the takedown cements another round for Diaz. 20-18 overall for Diaz.
ROUND THREE: They clinch almost immediately, Corbbrey stuffs the takedown try, gets a knee and backs off. Diaz works his game, connects clean, they clinch, Corbbrey blocks the knees and Diaz gets a takedown into half guard. They don't do much, fans boo, they get warned by the ref so Diaz isolates the left arm, goes for the kimura, Corbbrey tries to escape but Diaz to the arm bar now, but Corbbrey escapes. Diaz stacks him up by the cage, Diaz lands some lefts as Corbbrey has nowhere to go. Diaz into side control, stands and drops down with a few shots, back to side control and then into the mount. Diaz drops elbows to Corbbrey, rights and lefts follow and the fight is stopped.
THE RESULT: Nick Diaz via RD3 (3:43) TKO
Bill Goldberg is with Nick Diaz. They discuss that it was more of a boxing match, and Diaz thanks a bunch of people. He wants a title shot, he doesn't care when it is.
ROUND ONE: The official is Mario Yamasaki with the REF CAM~! Here we go with the main event, Noons with a hard leg kick to begin. Combo by Edwards and they trade some body shots. Knee to the gut by Edwards, Noons tagged by Edwards, but Noons DROPS EDWARDS! He pounces on Edwards and delivers rapid-fire rights and elbows by Noons and the fight is stopped!
THE RESULT: KJ Noons via RD1 (0:48) TKO
Bill Goldberg is with Noons. Noons and Edwards embrace as Goldberg asks if Noons has somewhere special to be. Noons says he respects Edwards and puts him over. They look at the replay, which doesn't exactly make Edwards happy. Goldberg asks Edwards about Noons. He says Noons is the man right now and he got his ass whooped, he doesn't remember anything. I appreciate his honesty. Noons thanks a laundry list of people. Nick Diaz is now in the cage and Noons asks the fans if he deserves a rematch, they boo! HAHAHA! Diaz says not to be scared and we about get a brawl in the cage! Carl Noons wanted a piece of Diaz. Diaz runs up the ramp and celebrates with his brother, showing that he has no class as always.
-Ranallo, Quadros and Goldberg wrap up the show.
Remember to leave a score of 1-0 in the comment section as well as your fight of the night!
that was a good fight card. every fight was interesting feijao was impressvie, herman was impresive, ninja dominated. diaz won a fight where his oppenent was tentative to strike and still it took him 3 rounds to put him away. kj is a wild man, reminded me of gsp/huges just plain straight forward aggression. that post fight was completely unneeded for the diaz bros to flip off kj and his team and his dad and personal friends in his hometown after he won is about as low as it gets.

That whole post fight incident was a complete setup! And it worked because I honestly believe that most people who saw it will now tune in to see Diaz v. Noons rematch. Elite XC is a class less yet entertaining brand of MMA. Whether you are a "DIE HARD" fan or your casual observer. It is for the most part pretty entertaining. So for all of you who don't care for the WWE/Sports Entertainment type works and tactics then I'd advise you to watch another brand. UFC clearly has the edge on it's competitors boasting most off the top fighters in MMA. So it's only natural that elitepro does its best to make it work with the table scraps of the UFC. Be real Noons couldn't lace up Penn's gloves at lightweight! Props to person responsible for setting that entire thing up. Note to promotors anytime you are putting a mic in front of a Diaz bros. face you're going to get some dumb shit being said!!! It was a work, that worked! Can't wait to Notorious Nick smash on Noons.

i can't decide if diaz is a punk-ass bitch or a bitch-ass punk. that guy has no class. he'll get his ass handed to him by noons again. maybe noons will go bj penn and lick diaz's blood off his gloves.

Lets save the pro wrestling angles for wrestling. I'm really starting to dislike Elite XC. Pride had its stupid angles, but they worked for whatever reason because they seemed honest. I just don't think it has any place in MMA now its trying to be taken seriously as a sport.

anybody else really starting todislike Elite XC? They have some good fighters and good fights, but all the BS surrounding fixed fights, bad decisions, catering weight classes, and allowing the Diaz bros to continue to be douches just turns me off.
