UFC 86: Rampage vs. Griffin~!
-Live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada!
-Mike Goldberg welcomes us to the show and hypes the main event of Jackson vs. Griffin. Joe Rogan is here for commentary, as usual. Rogan runs down the advantages that both men have going into the main event.
-We get a video package for Tyson Griffin vs. Marcus Aurelio, which will kick off the show.
-Tyson Griffin comes out to Eye of the Tiger, so, so awesome.
LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT: Tyson Griffin (11-1) vs. Marcus Aurelio (16-5):
ROUND ONE: The official is Herb Dean. Here we go. Griffin circles, gets a body shot as Aurelio gets a jab. Good combo by Aurelio, Griffin to the body again and lands. Jab by Aurelio, gets a straight right and another jab. Restless crowd already, calm down people. Straight right by Aurelio again, but Griffin gets a solid combo. Aurelio slips and is down, Griffin stands and lands a few shots. Aurelio tried for the arm, but Griffin starts to land some real good shots but Aurelio grabs the arm again. Griffin keeps standing and landing but Aurelio locks his legs, Griffin tries to pull out and down to a knee and works to escape the guard, Aurelio almost had an arm bar but Griffin out and lands some more shots. Body shots by Griffin, Aurelio has a mouse under his eye already. They stand and trade, circle a bit and a leg kick by Griffin. Good combo by Griffin, leg kick again and then Aurelio in with a combo. Griffin with a body shot again, changing levels and then lands a good leg kick. Another and Griffin controls the distance. Aurelio shoots, but Griffin stuffs him. Against the cage and the round ends.
SCORECARD: Griffin takes the round, avoiding the submission attempts and doing good damage and controlling the round. 10-9 Griffin.
ROUND TWO: Griffin starts with a leg kick and some good shots to different levels. Leg kick again, body shot follows and then an overhand right. A body kick by Griffin, followed by a leg kick. A boy shot follows and then a solid combo. Leg kick again, jabs by Aurelio and shoots, Griffin stops that and they go to the cage in the clinch. Knees by Griffin, working shots to the thighs. Some foot stomps now as Aurelio lands a good knee to the body. More knees by Aurelio, but Griffin slams Aurelio down and is in half guard. Aurelio stands and gets back control. Rights by Griffin and Aurelio looks to get a hook in, but Griffin back to half guard. Aurelio gets a triangle for a moment, Griffin escapes and Aurelio tries for a rubber guard. Knees by Griffin to the ribs, and then a great elbow to Aurelio. More body shots now as the round ends.
SCORECARD: Griffin continues to control the bout with a good stand up game, and he got the takedown and avoided submission again while doing damage. I have it 10-9 for Griffin and 20-18 overall.
ROUND THREE: Round three begins and Griffin looks for leg kicks. Gets a body kick, a leg kick and a right that wobbles Aurelio. Overhand right by Griffin and another leg kick. Both connect and back off, a good left and a leg kick by Griffin connect. Aurelio is tired as Griffin lands another leg kick. Aurelio shoots, stuffed and Griffin with another good combo. Griffin with another combo, leg kick and Aurelio then lands a combo but lacks the power to do any real damage. Griffin keeps landing rights and lefts, another leg kick Aurelio has no answer. Leg kick connects, and a right misses for Griffin. Griffin shoots and takes Aurelio down. Aurelio tries an arm bar, lands some elbows but Griffin stops that and stays in close. Body shots by Griffin, Aurelio tries another arm bar and Griffin postures up and then lands an elbow to Aurelio. Aurelio keeps working the legs up for a submission, but Griffin counters as the round ends.
SCORECARD: Griffin dominated again, and should take the bout 30-27.
THE RESULT: Tyson Griffin via Unanimous Decision (30-27 Across the Cards)
Joe Rogan is with Griffin. Griffin says he works everything, but has really worked his stand up. He talks us through some stuff and pimps his after party.
-Bisping is in the crowd.
-We see Jackson and Griffin arriving earlier today.
-We get a video for July 19th and Silva's debut at Light Heavyweight in the UFC.
-Jackson and Griffin get prepared backstage.
-Next up is a video package for Josh Koscheck vs. Chris Lytle.
WELTERWEIGHT BOUT: Josh Koscheck (12-2) vs. Chris Lytle (35-15-4):
ROUND ONE: The official is Yves Lavigne. They touch and here we go. Lytle looking for the left early, misses a high kick and Koscheck backs off. Big right by Lytle, misses another and then gets a leg kick. High kick by Koscheck, but Lytle back with a great body kick. Leg kick and a right by Lytle connect. Combo by Lytle, leg kick and Koscheck with a high kick and slips, back up and is ok. Left by Lytle, body kick and Koscheck takes him down, but Lytle gets a guillotine but Koscheck escapes and has half guard. Elbows by Koscheck followed by some shoulder shrugs. Koscheck looks for side control, postures up and back in but still in half guard. Short shots by Koscheck, body shots as well and into full guard. Elbow by Koscheck, postures up and gets a right. Koscheck gets Lytle to the cage, now into north south and Koscheck then gets his back, Lytle rolls and back to guard. Body shots by Koscheck, a great elbow and hammer fist as the round ends.
SCORECARD: Not much standing, but Koscheck dominated on the ground and did enough to take the round 10-9.
ROUND TWO: Round two begins, they touch and Lytle in with rights and a kick to begin. Body kick by Koscheck, Lytle misses a right and a combo by Koscheck lands. Koscheck shoots, gets the takedown against the cage and into north south. To the feet, elbows and a knee by Koscheck. Knee to the body, takedown by Koscheck but Lytle has a guillotine, but Koscheck is in half guard. He escapes and lands short elbows. Lefts by Koscheck now, gets partial mount against the cage and Lytle gets back to half guard, but short elbows by Koscheck cut Lytle. A left by Koscheck, short elbow again and Lytle is bleeding a good bit with what appears to be multiple cuts. Rights and lefts by Koscheck, short elbows again as Lytle holds Koscheck close. More elbows by Koscheck who is dominating from the half guard. Koscheck spins into side control now and Lytle gets him back into half guard, but Lytle is bleeding like a stuck pig. This is bad folks. Lefts by Koscheck, more elbows and the round ends, Lytle is done in my opinion as he is cut very badly.
SCORECARD: Koscheck dominated to an insane degree and Lytle is cut very, very badly. I will go 10-8 for Koscheck.
ROUND THREE: Yves checks on Lytle and the round begins. Lytle throws wildly, misses and he is so out of gas right now. They trade center cage, Koscheck shoots but doesn't get the takedown. Against the cage they go, and down they go but Lytle works for a kimura, Koscheck escapes and Lytle looks for the guillotine but Koscheck escapes. Lytle tries it again, but Koscheck escapes back to half guard. Elbows by Koscheck as Lytle is trapped against the cage. Koscheck is landing and the blood is flowing again from Lytle. More elbows from Koscheck, some rights and Lytle is a mess. The mat is soaked with blood and Koscheck lands more lefts. Lytle holds Koscheck close, and they get stood up. The crowd loves this. Lytle is just a horrible mess right here. Koscheck backs off, Lytle swings for the fences and lands but is too tired. They clinch as the crowd chants for Lytle. They get separated again, Koscheck back pedals and then Lytle unloads on Koscheck and rocks him but the round ends.
SCORECARD: Close round due to the separations and such, but Koscheck did more damage again and I think he takes the round and fight 30-26.
THE RESULT: Josh Koscheck via Unanimous Decision (30-26, 29-27, 30-28)
Joe Rogan is with Koscheck. Joe says he did well as Koscheck gets BOOED. Koscheck says it was a good fight, Lytle is classy and has been around for a long time and he respects him. But tonight he was just better. He wanted to stand, and he just went with the game plan. He thanks UFC and puts over his clothing company.
-We get a video package for Joe Stevenson vs. Gleison Tibau.
LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT: Joe Stevenson (33-8) vs. Gleison Tibau (27-4):
ROUND ONE: The official is Steve Mazzagatti. They touch and here we go. Stevenson in quickly, a straight jab by Stevenson lands and then a combo misses. They both throw, Stevenson drops Tibau with a right, gets a guillotine and Tibau escapes. Tibau passes and gets an over under, but they get to the feet and clinch against the cage. Big elbow by Stevenson, they keep clinched and Tibau gets a takedown. Tibau in the guard, has Stevenson against the cage and Stevenson works back to his feet. Big elbow by Stevenson, then a right and takes Tibau down. Lefts by Stevenson, but Tibau gets an Omoplata! Tibau had it locked, Stevenson turns into it and tries to escape, this looks unpleasant. A left by Tibau, again and he lands some light, but good shots. Stevenson keeps looking at the clock and wants a stand up, but no go. Stevenson stands, but back down to a knee. The round ends.
SCORECARD: Stevenson was mad he didn't get the stand up, but he was in a submission hold, so tough luck. I will go Tibau 10-9.
ROUND TWO: BJ Penn is in the crowd. Round two begins and they touch, jabs by Stevenson to begin. A good left by Tibau, combo by Stevenson and clinches with Tibau, against the cage and they battle for position. Tibau powers Stevenson down, back up and good shots by Tibau land. Tibau shoots and takes Stevenson down again. Tibau passes into side control and gets some short rights. Tibau into mount now and Stevenson fights, and escapes from it. To the feet they go and then trade. High kick blocked by Stevenson, Tibau shoots, gets the take down but Stevenson locks in the guillotine and that is it!
THE RESULT: Joe Stevenson via RD2 (2:57) Submission
Joe Rogan is with Stevenson. He says he takes what he is given. His yells out for his son, who is seeing him fight for the first time. He thanks his doctor as he had a bone bruise coming into the fight. His new school opens in a month.
-53% of the text voters think Forrest will win the main event.
-We now get a video package for Patrick Cote vs. Ricardo Almeida.
MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT: Patrick Cote (13-4) vs. Ricardo Almeida (9-2):
ROUND ONE: The official is Herb Dean. Here we go, they touch and Cote is staying low to avoid the takedown. They lock up, Almeida jumps into guard, tries a guillotine and they go to the ground. Rubber guard by Almeida, Cote stands up and backs off. Leaping kick by Almeida connects to the gut, jabs as well and then shoots, they clinch and to the cage they go. Knees by Almeida, they battle for position against the cage, Almeida has a leg but Cote avoids the takedown well. Knees by Almeida, tries for the single leg again and gets a double leg takedown. Half guard by Almeida, Cote works up the cage, but Almeida stops that. Almeida stands, drops back in with good rights. Almeida in guard and now to the half guard. He lands elbows and then body shots. Almeida stands and lands good rights, up kicks by Cote but Almeida stacks him and keeps control. Cote grabs the cage, no warning as he eats some shots. Elbows from the bottom by Cote but Almeida stands and lands again. Body shots now as Almeida maintains control. He is landing good shots and the round ends.
SCORECARD: That was all Almeida as he controlled and landed some nice shots. I will go 10-9 for Almeida.
ROUND TWO: Almeida has a torn glove and they tape it up, they cut some off and he's good to go. Round two now begins and Cote throws wildly, but nothing. Almeida shoots, stuffed and Cote on top. Rubber guard by Almeida and now he ties up Cote, but he escapes and they stand. A right by Cote, misses a kick and then a superman punch. They dance, combo by Cote and they clinch against the cage. They work for position and Cote lands knee strikes. Big right by Cote lands, misses a hook and Almeida backs off. Rights by Cote, one landed well. Another and then a body shot by Cote. They lock up and clinch, to the ground but Cote right back up. Leg kicks by Cote, Almeida tries for a takedown, stopped and they clinch. Knees to the body by Almeida. Almeida leaps up on Cote for a guillotine, but Cote escapes and backs off. Superman punch by Cote misses, gets a right and drops Almeida as the round ends.
SCORECARD: Some spurts of excitement, but a slow and strategic round. Cote did enough I feel to take the round with the defense and the fact that he did some decent damage. I go 10-9 for Cote, and 19-19 overall.
ROUND THREE: Round three begins and Almeida is tired. A short right by Cote, Almeida clinches and wants the takedown but Cote is defending. They separate and Cote lands a right. Leg kick misses for Cote, and a jab by Almeida lands. Leg kick by Cote and that buckled Almeida. Cote fakes some shots, jabs by Almeida land. Cote is being aggressive but Almeida lands another jab. Another leg kick by Cote lands. Almeida keeps landing jabs, but nothing else. Leg kick again by Cote, and an overhand right connects. Almeida in with a combo and then a jab. Leg kicks by Cote followed by a combo. A left hook lands as well. Cote misses a big right, backs off but Almeida is tired as hell. But Almeida gets a takedown and gets side control. North south now, tries a necktie but Cote gets top and gets a few body shots as the round ends.
SCORECARD: A hard round to call. The takedown at the end could be enough, even with the reversal. Cote was aggressive but didn't do much. I will go Almeida 10-9, and 29-28 overall. But it could go either way.
THE RESULT: Patrick Cote via Split Decision (29-28 Cote, 29-28 Almeida, 29-28 Cote)
Joe Rogan is with Cote. Cote says it was an honor to fight Almeida, and he apologizes if the fans weren't happy. Cote says the difference was that he worked his wrestling a lot. He was fighting for a young girl that is fighting for her life.
ROUND ONE: The official is Yves Lavigne. They LOVE Griffin and HATE Jackson. Here we go! They come out throwing, leg kick by Griffin and another after a combo. Uppercut by Jackson, leg kick by Griffin. High kick blocked by Jackson, good combo by Griffin and then they both exchange in close. Body kick by Griffin, they both throw wildly and another leg kick by Griffin. They trade in close, knees by Griffin and they back off. More leg kicks by Griffin, a good left by Jackson but another leg kick by Griffin. A great combo by Jackson, a leg kick follows and Griffin back and attacks and they clinch. Knees by Griffin, they separate and another leg kick by Griffin. They trade, Griffin gets the better of it and then gets another leg kick. Jackson DROPS Griffin and is in the guard now. Jackson takes him to the cage, has him against it and has control. Lefts by Jackson, some good rights and Griffin to his feet. Knees by Griffin, kick by Jackson, then by Griffin. A good jab by Griffin backs off Jackson and the round ends.
SCORECARD: Wow, great round. Jackson dropped and did decent damage, but Griffin controlled the majority of the round. I will go Griffin 10-9, slightly.
ROUND TWO: Round two begins and more leg kicks by Griffin hurts Jackson. He has a guillotine, gets knees and takes Jackson down. Griffin in half guard now and he is working short shots. Short elbows by Griffin, lefts to the body as well. Griffin remains in control and Griffin passes to side control. Some knees to the body, tried an Americana and then some elbow strikes. More short elbows by Griffin, rights as well and he is dominating Jackson. Griffin gets mount now and gets more elbows. Jackson tries to block as the crowd is going wild for Griffin. Griffin keeps landing, not hurting Jackson but connecting nonetheless. More short elbows by Griffin as he controls from the mount. Griffin is smothering Jackson, who has NO answer right now. Jackson tries to buck him off and fails as the round ends.
SCORECARD: Domination from Griffin and I have it 10-8 for Griffin, and 20-17 overall.
ROUND THREE: They ice Jackson's knee in between the rounds. Round three now and Jackson's left leg is hurting. Griffin looks for a leg kick again, misses a jab gets the leg kick but eats a right. High kick blocked by Jackson, Griffin misses a leg kick. Big left by Jackson grazes Griffin, and a leg kick connects again for Griffin. A great combo by Jackson lands, avoids a leg kick but then takes one. Good left by Jackson, jabs by Griffin and a combo by Jackson lands, but light. Body kick by Griffin, they then trade and both land well. Leg kick by Griffin again, good left by Griffin as well. Another good combo by Jackson, good body shot as well by Jackson. A right and high kick by Griffin get blocked and back to the leg kick. A good right by Jackson backs off Griffin, high kick blocked again by Jackson, Griffin in with a strong combo and Jackson answers. The round ends.
SCORECARD: A great recovery round by Jackson, as the left looked to have loosened up a bit and he did some rally good stand up. I have it 10-9 for Jackson, and 29-27 overall for Griffin.
ROUND FOUR: A high kick by Griffin to begin, checked and then a combo that grazes Jackson. A good hook by Jackson, an uppercut and a big takedown by Jackson. Griffin is cut over the right eye as Jackson is in the guard. Griffin looks for and gets a triangle! SLAM by Jackson! He escapes and is back into the guard. Jackson rides Griffin and keeps the control, elbows by Jackson now and some rights follow. Griffin looks for an Omoplata, escape by Jackson, to the feet and Jackson catches Griffin on the way up. High kick checked by Jackson, jabs by Griffin and a HUGE right by Jackson and the cut is worse now on Griffin. Another good combo by Jackson, high kick checked again by Jackson. Comb try by Griffin, grazes Jackson. Tries another leg kick, they trade at the end of the round and to #5 we go!
SCORECARD: Another great round. Jackson is coming back and took that round as well, 10-9, and I have it 38-37 for Griffin.
ROUND FIVE: Here we go! Griffin looks for the leg kicks again, body kick lands. A good combo by Jackson, avoids a right by Griffin and then takes a body kick. Leg kick by Griffin, jabs by Griffin but they miss. A right by Griffin lands, jabs now and then they both land as Griffin gets another leg kick. Big right by Jackson, leg kick by Jackson and then a body shot. Jackson avoids a left, fakes a right and avoids the high kick. A right by Griffin lands, another and then a great left by Jackson but he ate a shot as well. Leg kick by Griffin, another and Jackson is wobbled. Body shot by Jackson, they clinch, knees by Griffin and they separate. Good rights by both land, Jackson checks a high kick and we have less than a minute left. Leg kick by Griffin, right by Jackson. Good body shot by Jackson, an uppercut and left connect for Jackson. They clinch and knee by Griffin and the fight ends.
SCORECARD: Tons of back and forth in the round, but I just don't think Jackson did enough to take the round. I will go 10-9 for Griffin for aggression and 48-46 overall for Griffin.
THE RESULT: NEW UFC LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION Forrest Griffin via Unanimous Decision (48-46, 48-46, 49-46)
Joe Rogan is with Griffin. He won't cry in the octagon again. He thanks all his people, and he thinks they need to have a rematch, which sucks for him. He can't wait to do this shit again. "Every fucking punch he threw hurt." Truth, I appreciate his honesty.
Joe is with Jackson now. He says his leg is jacked up, and he isn't a good actor. It didn't effect him too much as he got to recover in round two. He just got his ass whooped, and he respects Forrest. I appreciate his honesty. He congratulates Forrest and thanks the fans for being here. He's still going to get drunk at his after party and will NEVER take 9-months off again.
-The turning point of the night was the leg kicks by Forrest.
-They show Melvin Gulliard vs. Siver, which was a 36 second ass whooping by Melvin. After the fight Melvin says he had to grow up and he trained hard, and he is back and wants to be a contender. He is working his weak points and then talks us through the whooping.
-Submission of the night was Cole Miller.
-You can see Cole Miller vs. Jorge Gurgel for free on UFC.com right now as well as Silva vs. Franklin I for free on UFC.com.
-We see Griffin in the locker room chilling with a nasty cut over his right eye.
Remember to leave a score of 1-10 in the comment section as well as your fight of the night!
Not a very good first 4 fights of the night...Griffin/Rampage made it all worthwhile though.

Damn it, I hate when title fights go to decision. Lucky I had $1000 on Griffin though... so in that case im happy. Great fight though, just anti-climatic for Forrest's big win.
Griffin may be champion, but I dont expect to see him top of the Light Heavyweight rankings...
Posted By: Brad (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 01:08 AM
Who should be ahead of Griffin in the LHW rankings ???
He beat Shogun and Rampage back-to-back.

Awsome fight, but didnt both fighters swear it wasnt going to the judges. Well cant say they didn't try. Two Badasses
Posted By: TD (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 01:29 AM
I have to go with a solid 6 for selfish reasons - the money I had on Forrest obviously makes me happy, but it's offset by having money on Almeida and having him lose a ridiculously close fight. Not a very good fight either way, and I don't think either deserves a title shot after that.
The championship fight was really tough to score imho, and I'm shocked that for once, the NSAC judges made a reasonable decision (I had it 48-47 because I don't feel round 2 was a 10-8 round, but it was about as close as you can get to 10-8).

I am officially calling for Juanito Ibarra'a resignation and retirement. He said in the preview that he would retire if Forrest beat Quinton. Therefore, I think that we should band together and get him to keep his word.

My review i simple this time.
Undercard - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....
Main Event - Great fight.Too bad the judges were apparently watching a different one.
Posted By: Ronald McFondle (Registered) on July 06, 2008 at 02:11 AM
If it wasn't for that main event, the whole event would have been less than fuck all. Dire out of Rampage - Forrest.
Posted By: ButchReedMark (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 02:23 AM
Thanks for doing that whoever you are. Couldnt make the fight tonight and got ALL I needed to know.
Posted By: Dan (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 02:29 AM
Easy fight to call in my eyes, Rampage sat back the entire fight and Forrest was the aggressor most of the fight. Both men fought valiantly though. As for the undercard, it wasn't bad but nothing stood out, although Stevenson did get a nice victory over a VERY tough Gleison Tibau who was obviously well overwight.
Posted By: Bill (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 02:32 AM
I had it scored at:
10-9 Rampage
10-8 Forrest
10-9 Rampage
10-9 Rampage
10-9 Forrest
So figuring they wouldn't do a draw, I said go with champs favour and split decision it for Rampage. I guess it was damn close throughout the fight. I just feel Forrest didn't do enough to win the belt.
Well, I hope Forrest enjoys the belt, he's got a huge target on his head with tons of possible matchups (Rampage II, Wanderlei, Anderson Silva, Chunk Liddell, Rashad Evans)

Your analysis basically mimicked the thoughts I was having (and expressing to those in the living room.) I kind of wish there was some way I could sue you.
The only thing I don't understand is how a judge scored the Koscheck - Lytle fight 30-28. Isn't that impossible?

@Ronald McFondle
Agreed ! And apparently everyone in here was too! It is one thing that judges gave it to Forrest ok fine no prob but that was a fucking insult to say it was unanimous ! !! Meaning all the judges agreed Forrest got every round !? WTF !
And 48 -46 across the board ! Are you kdding me ! And Mike Goldbergs verbal masturbation of Forrest made me ill !
Rampage would throw a combo and a kick and it would be dead air !! 2 secs later Forrest would attempt a similar move miss totally on the combo but would get the leg kick and Mike Goldberg would go off like some school kid mark he is !!
Honestly when Forrest own fans were booing you know something was wrong !
Another thing that made me sick that this person wouldn't have done in Pride is Jackson played and towed the company rope and hype TUFF and Forrest !
I'm sorry he could not have been possibly happy with the unanimous decision bullshit !
apparently escaping full blown deep Triangles don't mean shit or advancing the the entire fight despite being lame on a injured leg ! And knocking and Forrest down and a take down later with a better ground and pound display !
man honestly this fight was not worth the money i spent nor was this PPV bore F'n feast with a shitty ending !
Posted By: WTF (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 02:53 AM
I agree with the judges 100% on the main. also the Cote/Almeida fight wasn't even close because the last round was all Cote. Ricardo got the first round, but the last 2 were Cote woithout question.
Posted By: guest guest (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 04:26 AM
"apparently escaping full blown deep Triangles don't mean shit or advancing the the entire fight despite being lame on a injured leg!"
It's not like he injured his leg on the way to the arena but decided to fight anyway because of his GREAT HEART, you idiot. Forrest crippled Rampage in the second round and then dominated him for the rest of the night. What fight are YOU watching?
Posted By: Vallejo (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 04:46 AM
10-9 rampage
10-8 forrest
this is the roun that could go either way...third round went to forrest in my eyes 10-9
10-9 rampage
10-9 forrest
people can make the case that it should have been a draw, but is there anyone out there that isn't related to rampage that can say big page won this fight? too many people complaining about a perfectly legitimate decision...and if you look at the end, Rampage felt that he had lost, he looked the same when he was awarded the ninja fight...people need to stop bitching about this one, sorry your guy lost and everything, but rampage is really good, really young, and the rematch will rock, there is nothing wrong with this decision folks, sorry...maybe next time rampage's knee won't get messed up and things will get better.

How the hell did the judge score the fight 49-46. You mean to tell me that this guy won every round but one no way. I thought Rampage won he clearly did more damage to Forrest than Griffin did to him. I had it 10-9 Rampage RD1, 10-8 Griffin Rd2, 10-9 Rampage round 3, 10-9 Rampage round 4, an round 5 Griffin 10-9.
How the hell do the judges score a fight 30-28. That means that the scores were 10-9, 10-9 10-10
Posted By: Kyle (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 10:33 AM
I'm a massive Jackson's mark myself and I do tink he lost fair and square .
Injuries are happening all the time, hell look at the beating he took in R II !
It HAS to HURT !
Griffin proved his win over Shogun wasn't a fluke and Quinton showed the world he was a fantastic and exiciting fighter .
Plus this win offers BIG OPPORTUNITIES to The Iceman himself (if he beats Evans) and Machida .
The Silvas will need to defeat 1 to 2 opponents before getting a title shot though
Hey why not making a Rampage vs Wandy III now ?!
Posted By: Alex Matthew (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 10:43 AM
Sorry Griffin controlled majority of the fight he deserved the decision. To those who said the judges were watching a different fight I think have it backwards.
Posted By: Paul (Guest) on July 06, 2008 at 12:59 PM
Only decision that was wrong was the almeida and cote fight. (this is coming from a Rampage fan) Almeida CONTROllED, not dominate the 1st and second round. All Cote had was that superman punch at the end of the second round. Cote couldn't defend the takedowns and was put into submission attempts. I really believed Almeida lost the third round but felt that the first and second rounds were his, I mean even in the third round almeida kept Cote at bay with a crap load of jabs.
I rated
10-8 Almeida
10-9 Almeida
10-8 Cote
Almeida should have won that.
But for the Forrest winning, props to him, dissappointed that Jackson lost, it looked like he had to cut alot of weight (gettin a lil chubby Page, i guess the curse of the LHW is real). Guessing overtrainin and cutting like 40pounds left his leg not hurt but vulnerable. Forrest kept to his game plan and give respect for that chin he developed.

well said romano

@ WTF:
"Agreed ! And apparently everyone in here was too! It is one thing that judges gave it to Forrest ok fine no prob but that was a fucking insult to say it was unanimous ! !! Meaning all the judges agreed Forrest got every round !? WTF !"
Dude unanimous just means all 3 judges gave the FIGHT to Forrest, not every round. If you look at Csonka's scores it matches what two judges scored exactly with Rampage getting 2 rounds and Forrest getting 3.

I wonder if Jackson's honesty is as true as you seem to think it is. If it is, then he'll give Griffin his purse for the fight. On The Ultimate Fighter while he was in a rage, he stated that he'd bet his whole purse that the fight wouldn't go to a decision. He'll be sucking that one up.
