    Franklin was screwed
This fight is his hands down
and "Henderson" has proved he is no where near "pure class"

Posted By: Guest#0742 (Guest)  on January 17, 2009 at 08:44 PM

How did Henderson prove he was no class? Sounds like you are a jilted Franklin fan to me. Henderson is the epitome of a class act. I cant believe a judge scored it 30-27 Franklin. I could see it 29-28 either way but not 30-27. Im glad Hendo won anyway since Franklin didnt want to coach the show and Henderson really wanted to. Cant wait for Penn/St. Pierre.

Mark Coleman surprised me tonight. I was expecting him to get dicked, yet he looked pretty good. Well done to him.

ButchReed, are you serious? Coleman looked good? Did you perhaps watch their PRIDE fight instead?

Henderson should have lost point for all the eye pokes and nut shots he is dirty.....Mark Coleman is the man even if he did lose...it waas like watching a rocky movie no matter what that man would not stop..rua is overated or coleman just has a huge heart. if that fight had gone to decision i think coleman wins mostly because of the points rua had taken away(that knee was clearly the dirtiest hit of the year) but also because he got fucked up but he took rua to his back alot and he is non stop moving when he is on the ground

I think the judges might have drank to much guinness, passed out for a little while and just rolled the dice on the decision. This is what i think the UFC should do, pay Franklin since he is a math teacher to tudor the judges on how to count and all will be happy!!!

I think Shogun was scared because of how old Coleman looked if he beat on him to hard Coleman might die.I seen his corner giving him ensure between rounds, and why did he bring Phil Baroni to corner him that was his first mistake the New York Dumbass should never give anyone advice on anything.Shogun is overated and Coleman is to old, Dana White what were you thinking?

Posted By: Triangle2 (Guest)  on January 18, 2009 at 10:06 AM

Shogun had a gassed out 44-year old (Coleman ain't Randy Couture, who went full-tilt boogie for five rounds with Tim Sylvia) who hadn't fought in TWO YEARS (who was also coming off a knee injury himself) who had to cut at least 25 pounds for a weight class he hadn't fought in before in an omoplata for almost TWO MINUTES and couldn't finish. Weak.

And that stoppage was a gimme. Like almost a Kimbo-worthy gimme. Coleman wasn't knocked out or even close to being knocked out. He was TIRED. Those punches didn't even look painful, Coleman just looked like he was too tired to defend and the punches were barely harming him anyway. He was trying to take a breather. Yeah, I think Shogun would have won by decision anyway, but I don't think that stoppage looked right.

And the way Shogun was eating those slow punches was *embarrassing*. Coleman is not a boxer, and he was gassed. Shogun fights like that against a Top 10 UFC LHW, he'll get knocked out. While Chuck Liddell has been on decline himself, I don't think it'll take more than two rounds for Chuck to put Shogun's lights out since Shogun's going to eat a bunch of decent punches, assuming Chuck tries.

I'm not blaming Coleman for training and trying to win the fight. I'm blaming Shogun for not being able to convincingly finish a fight that was being given to him as a gift.

I think we're finding out which PRIDE guys were juicing and which ones weren't. Rampage has looked good in the UFC except for the Griffin fight (he got lazy after having not fought for nine months), but Wandy has looked horrible in his current UFC run and Shogun has looked horrible so far too. I hate to ascribe to the roid theory of why so many former PRIDE guys are crashing and burning in the UFC, but it's either that or just a coincidence.

They've gotta do something about the weigh-in's, maybe move them to the day of the fight coz Coleman looked a lot closer to 235 than 205 and sort out the damn judges, 27-30 to Franklin my arse!! was the guy wearing beer goggles or something ?? You could make an argument that it was 28-29 Franklin as it was a close fight but the section I was sitting people were shocked at that announcement, at least the other judges got it right. Overall an entertaining show live, looking forward to Hendo vs "The Count"

I would have to say that the first and second round was Hendo....but CLOSE! The third totally all Franklin.
It was a good fight...but I wouldnt say that Franklin was screwed.
You just cant leave it to the judges!
Clearly the 30-27 judge was a Franklin fan....lol.

I see Coleman sticking around and maybe fighting Matt Hamill(think thats right). Rua vs lidell should be, if nothing else, interesting.

Hendo won and I'm happy. However, what is the point of having "no head butts" and "no eye poke" rules unless they're never used even when those things clearly happen? Accidental or not, Hendo deserved to get at least the deduction from the eye poke. Looked a little too convenient to be accidental (come on, who throws jabs with his hand open and fingers spread out?)
