I have to admit I've been totally impressed by Mir's performance tonight.
I was one of the few who thought Kongo was "unfinishable (lost only via TKO to Yvel before this fight and it was 5 years and a half ago).
Of course he did not "tap" but well he passed out a la stone cold and that was an extremely impressive performance by Frank Mir.
Now, instead of calling out Brock who won't fight till six good months and it will be against Carwin why not calling out Big Nog or Cain instead , either of them should be his next opponent , hell why not making Carwin vs Mir with winner taking on Lesnar then ?
Posted By: Guest#6644 (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 01:08 AM
Frank Mir FTW. Damn he made Kongo look like a tool.
Posted By: Guest#8225 (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 01:09 AM
No one in the UFC is beating Penn at 155. He's too good. Sanchez had heart to stay in as long as he could, but man, his face looked like one of those on the loser in the continue screens in Street Fighter 2.
Mir, as much as I hate, hate ,HATE to admit it, looked good. I'd like to see how his gas tank is affected with all that extra mass in a longer fight though. They should not put him in the interim title fight though if there is one...he needs another victory over a contender first, Carwin perhaps. Kongo is simply not a good HW.
Florian may be the #2 LW in the UFC, be was dominated too thoroughly last time he fought Penn. If he continues to improve his boxing, it would help his chances next time around.

great night of fights, minus fitch and pierce

One of the better fight cards I've seen lately, great night of fights.
Posted By: Kyle (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 01:13 AM
My god, I bet you Frank Mir masterbates to a picture of Lesnar while training. Good going Brock in beating the shit and everything else out of Frank you've turned him into a Brock lover. He'd probably have your baby if that's how you roll.
Posted By: Chewb (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 01:15 AM
WOW all my pics were right shoulda droped some money on it seemed like a good p.p.v.
Posted By: ya broke homie (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 01:17 AM
Mirs only competiton is Lesnar. He'll destroy everyone else. Great gound game, striking is better every fight and now the fucking guy is huge. I hope Lesnar gets healthy first of all, secondly healthy enough to fight again.
Posted By: Guest#1925 (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 01:19 AM
Total schooling by BJ!! Made Sanchez look like a fuckin amatur & split his head like a melon, worst cut since Eastman. Diego was totally broken mentally, he'll never be the same again.
As far as Rogan sayin they should "steal Aoki from Japan", Aoki may be amazing on the ground but his standup is a joke, BJ would (T)KO him in the 1st.

Big Nog - Staph Infection - Major Knee Injury = Mir Loses.
Posted By: WilliamMorgan (Registered) on December 13, 2009 at 01:32 AM
Mir has yet to prove he's a good fighter since the injury. He was getting murdered by Brock until he got up and gave Mir his leg, Mir beat up a half dead Nog, and he only threw one punch to drop Kongo... He needs to actually be on his feet for several rounds with a guy like Carwin, Velasquez, etc. Just cause he bulked up dont mean shit.
Posted By: Mir sucks (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 01:36 AM
Mir PUNKED Kongo. And Penn is on another planet right now. As good as Sanchez is, Penn made him look slow, weak, and unmotivated. That's as good as Mir has EVER looked, though. Too bad Lesnar's not healthy right now. They need to strip him of the belt and open up the "tournament" for the HW title. My money would be on Mir. I hate shit-talking fighters, the way Mir did for this fight against Kongo, but by god, he backed it up.
Posted By: Guest#9390 (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 01:40 AM
Frank Mir would destroy Nogeria again. Nogeria looked slow against Couture and couldnt sub randy or KO randy
Posted By: Guest#7051 (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 01:41 AM
HEAD KICK BJ PENN!!!@$!@!!!!!!!!
Posted By: WYLUN (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 01:49 AM
I'm curious as to how you can call the Mir fight a win by submission when Kongo didn't submit. He got choked the fuck out. Same as a KO, IMO. I would love to see Mir against some of the bigger boys of the division, though, like Carwin. I also wanna see what he'd do against some overhyped clown like Cain Velasquez. Carwin might be, too...I haven't seen him fight. Mir, despite his shit-talking (which I hate), seems to really be the real deal.

"Frank Mir would destroy Nogeria again. Nogeria looked slow against Couture and couldnt sub randy or KO randy"
You cannot put that on Nog. No one has subbed Randy in years. The fact that Nog came as close as he did should be admired.
A rematch, while Mir could surely win, is not clear cut either way. It would be far more competitive than their first where Nog was all but a zombie.

UFC a total set up!!!!!!
Posted By: Muta Mark (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 02:55 AM
that was one massive headkick from BJ - dude you could see Diego's skull through that gash!
And it looks like Frank Mir figured out exactly what he needs to be a competitor for the HW belt: a massive amount of steroids. What did he gain, 30 lbs since his loss to Brock?
Posted By: Guest#4602 (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 02:57 AM
BJ looked amazing. Diego has heart but looked tentative and scared of BJ's power, that probably helped him though, if he wasn't like that he probably would've went to sleep in the 2nd.
I don't like Mir, but he impressed the hell out of me. He's really coming together as a complete fighter, hopefully Brock gets better, because I'd like to see Mir 7.0 show up and put up a better fight in another loss to the Brock Smash!
Thank god Fatty Fat Wilson G got knocked out. Guy has missed weight like 3 times, time for him to move back up... so I can see him get knocked out some more.
Pretty solid night of fights minus Fitch who yet again bores the entire planet.

Because Cain, and Carwin are active fighters and Mir doesn't want an ass beating.
Posted By: Guest#9296 (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 08:13 AM
Can't blame Mir for wanting Lesnar again. Brock dominated Mir in a sport that Mir's been doing forever and Brock's just walked into. I dunno why people give the guy shit for being competitive and wanting to show he's able to adapt to a beast like Lesnar when everybody else is scared and ducking him.
Posted By: Acid (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 08:29 AM
BJ Penn made Diego look like a child - barely broke a sweat
Oh and the cut to end the fight was brutal
Posted By: Guest#0039 (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 10:26 AM
Did Mir look impressive over Kongo? Yes. Does that coupled with his increased mass improves his chances against Lesnar? Not bloody likely. I still don't think Mir would beat a healthy Nog. For anyone saying Nog couldn't finish Couture let's look at this honestly. Compare Couture's chin with Mir's. Even at his age Randy can take a punch. I still don't put Mir in the same league as Lesnar, Nog and Carwin.
Posted By: Flying Dutchman (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 10:48 AM
Im glad that mir won with kongos disrespectful ass turning his back on mir who is not even on the same caliber as mir every body hated him and called him a joke because he fought lesnar who just used his size to lay on you and who easily put on some of the most boring performances
either way i didnt watch this did diego do good? like showing that he actually had a real chance to take the title?
Posted By: Guest#3340 (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 11:53 AM
How bout some love for Ken Flo. Easily the 2nd Best at 155. Cant wait for the rematch with Sanchez whenever that crater on his forehead heals. As soon as Sanchez felt Penn's power he went to Kenny/GSP takedown attempt offense. Penn has the cardio now so 155ers arent going to wear him down. Oh well, hope Florian works back to a title shot and improved boxing. Go Ken Flo!!!
Posted By: lowe (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 12:03 PM
Right now they need to book Mir/Nog II. Nog looked better against Couture than he did in ages, and Mir just whooped Kongo's ass. It'll have been two fights apiece since they both fought each other. If Nog wins, they will have to include him in the title picture, no choice.
If Frank wins, he gets thrown into the title picture PLUS his first win gets validated.
Win-win.
Posted By: Bozo (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 12:04 PM
Just like i said all the pressure in the world goes out the window once you get cracked in the jaw.
Sanchez was gunshy after that first round and Penn pretty much punished him. The headkick and cut was just icing on the cake, man. Penn is my boy! Best hands in the business!
Impressed by Mir even though i can't stand him. Great right hand. just shows you how weak Cain's punches are. Kingo lasted 3 rounds with cain on him and didn't make out of 1st round with Mir.

Since Kongo passed out, it was a technical submission. Same idea as the fight between Steve Cantwell and Razak Al-Hassan at UFC: Fight for the Troops. Al-Hassan never submitted, but the ref stopped the fight due to the armbar dislocating his elbow. Mir vs Sylvia would be another example of a technical submission

Hey Sanchez...You don't call destiny, it calls you.
"BJ looked amazing. Diego has heart but looked tentative and scared of BJ's power"
Almost getting KO'd in the first round will break most people's mentality, no matter how much confidence you have in yourself.
But yes, BJ looked out of this world...Dimension was joked about. From the near knockout to the striking clinic and stuffing the takedowns as if a teenager was trying to take him down. Who the hell can beat BJ "The Master" Penn (he's beyond a prodigy now).
Mir beat Kongo at his own game. Forget the fact that the fight was finished via submission/KO, Mir - who's striking isn't his forte and it was said that he would be foolish to try and trade strikes with Kongo - beat the big man to the punch.

Am I the only one who thought that Clay Guida belching his own blood at the trainer was the most bad-ass thing of all time?
Posted By: Ramsey (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 02:55 PM
Mir wants Lesnar to get healthy so he can fight him again. RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT I guess mir is a sadomasochist he just loves lesnar pounding on that retarded gourd

"because Mir already fought and beat Nog where is the benefit of Mir fighting him again ?

Yeah cause there has never been a rematch in the history of the UFC
Posted By: DC (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 03:18 PM
Awww the poor UFC lightweights. They have no where to go. There are some great matchups for contenders, Kenny vs Diego Griffin vs Guida II edgar vs maynard II Maynard vs anyone not named PENN. And people gavepenn shit for wanting to fight at welterweight. He needs a challenge
Posted By: pikey(guest) (Guest) on December 13, 2009 at 05:23 PM
No matter what Frank Queer does, he will never beat Lesnar again. Even with the added muscle he'll just get gasses quicker. I swear if they ever fight again if I were Lesnar i'd guard my nuts the man wants em badly.

Complaining about Lesnar size, yet Mir was 25lbs heavier than Kongo in their bout. Mir was over 20lbs heavier than Vera in their fight, and still got his ass handed to him.
You lose credibility since you admit you didn't even watch the card, much less, clearly can't read (asking did Sanchez do good).

kenny florian needs to win a few more fights before he gets a rematch at the belt. penn pretty much made him look like he was in a different league last fight....i think penn is a legit champion and you cant help but be happy for him bcuz he seems like a respectful and humble person

I think 10-9 in the first 4 rds of the Penn/Diego fight might even be a bit generous. If Penn hadn't landed that massive head kick to finish it I wouldn't have had a complaint if it went the distance and BJ got a 50-40 decision (10-8 in all rounds). That was just a top to bottom decimation of someone previously thought to be a tough challenger for Penn. Diego landed one solid uppercut counterpounch that didn't even phase BJ. And he couldn't even come close to finishing a takedown. BJ Penn broke Diego's will in the 1st RD. It looked to me like BJ was asking his trainers about advice on his stock portfolio in between rounds because the fight was never in question from the start.

because Mir already fought and beat Nog where is the benefit of Mir fighting him again ?

ahh because when they last fought, Nog had JUST recovered from staph infection literally a couple of weeks b4 the fight and didnt even have a proper training camp at all going into the fight .. imagine if mir didnt have a proper training camp into a fight.. he'd look like a fat slob like wen he got owned by vera

A great night of fights with just the one dull encounter (Fitch), topped off by an absolute master class by BJ Penn.
He was never in trouble, though maybe a little frustrated he didn't finish in the first round, you can't fault the heart of Sanchez there.
Just a nasty, nasty cut on his head, the worst I've seen. A couple more kicks and he'd have been scalped.

It's been done and Penn did not fare well at all.
I have to say, I had to read the results twice when I saw "head kick *BY* Penn"
