-Rogan is with Carlos. Carlos talks about the gameplan and how tough Diaz is. Condit says it will be an honor to be able to fight Georges St. Pierre for the title. Rogan then speaks with Diaz. Diaz thinks he won and had Condit backing up way too much. Diaz congratulates Condit. Diaz in so many words contemplates retirement and says "I don't need this ****."
-Rogan and Goldberg go over the card and that is all.
Ya know, I usually respect the opinions of you guys on here, but the fact that you have Diaz the win means you're either biased, or not paying much attention. Carlos out-struck him the entire fight aside from one small portion against the cage, and even then he only took three punches. For every one shot Diaz threw, Carlos threw three more. Watch it again, good sir.

Not sure how you scored the second rd for Diaz considering Condit handily outstruck him in a round that was purely standup.
Posted By: guest guest (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 01:45 AM
Really so running away most of the fight and fighting not to lose is what wins fights then? Other then the 4th round I never so Carlos try to win the fight. He just avoided Diaz the whole time which is good defence but thats all.

THIS X 100!! Diaz sounded like a little bitch!

Another boring night of decisions (the PPV portion). Dana needs to start docking pay & making fighters work. UFC guys are too reserved & don't go for it. I'm gonna go home & watch HDNet Fights on the DVR. Also, I can't wait for March 3rd.

I thought carlos condit was supposed to fight diaz? who was that guy?
Posted By: hardball (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 02:02 AM
Congrats to Carlos on not getting sucked into Nick's game, at times getting his strikes off early & useing good lateral movement to keep Diaz from backing him up but fucking hell the scoring was terrible!
I'm not gonna scream robbery or anything because it was a very close fight but I gave Diaz 1st, 2nd, & 5th & Condit 3rd & 4th. No problems with 47-48 either way, second round was very close but Cecil "leg kicks don't count" Peoples & Patricia whatever-her-last-name-is both gave the last round to Condit, WTF? I thought it was the easiest round to score & in no way did Condit win it.
Something really needs to be done about this, too many times we see these judges making major mistakes but they still get these assignments from the athletic comissions & nobody's ever held accountable. This really pisses me off because I think it's hurting the sport I love.
Same thing in the Kosckeck/Pierce fight, there was no way Kos did enough to take either the 1st or 2nd but I did give him the 3rd.
You can say "don't leave it in the hands of the judges" all you want but when 2 guys are so evenly matched that even though they're trying to finish they can't it's down to the judges to make an accurate assesment of who won the majority of the fight & that phrase is nothing more than a cop out excuse for judges not doing their friggin' jobs properly.
Hope Diaz doesn't call it a career because he's still young, has a crowd pleasing style and could be a big star in the UFC plus win or lose I just love watching him fight.

Aaaaand here comes the Waaaaahmublance for Little Nicky, his bruised face and even more bruised little ego. Sorry he's not at the conference, but it was an emergency.

So ok, has bitchass Diaz been already packed and sent back to Stockton? Remember about the correct postage!

I am really surprised at how many people I've seen online talking about how Carlos Condit was "running away" the whole fight. I'm not talking about this recapper I'm just saying in general. Yes, Nick Diaz was moving forward. Condit was circling out, moving side to side. Nick Diaz landed less strikes in this 5 round fight than he did against BJ Penn is a 3 round fight. For people saying that Condit was running that's pretty stupid because what he was doing is no different than what most skilled strikers do in a stand up fight. They make themselves a moving(and thus harder to hit) target all the while landing more strikes. And that's what Carlos Condit did. Now if he had jumped out of the cage and ran to the locker room then sure, he ran away. That didn't happen.

^^^Yeah cause your a fighter internet guy. I had condit winning but not 49-46
Posted By: deuce (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 02:35 AM
It's funny. Until the B.J. Penn fight, I had always been really down on Diaz then Condit comes along and exposes him for all those reasons.
As noted on the broadcast, Diaz was finally fighting someone taller than him and someone who matched his reach. Both were new territory for him. Condit's cardio proved just to be good as Diaz's, but with better speed on top of it.
Posted By: WilliamMorgan (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 02:37 AM
Ya know, I usually respect the opinions of you guys on here, but the fact that you have Diaz the win means you're either biased, or not paying much attention. Carlos out-struck him the entire fight aside from one small portion against the cage, and even then he only took three punches. For every one shot Diaz threw, Carlos threw three more. Watch it again, good sir.
Posted By: Rock Robster (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 01:36 AM
But Diaz was the aggressor, got the takedown and definitely one at least the first and the last rounds. It wasn't clearcut like the unanimous decision would've made you believe.
Posted By: Guest#8943 (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 02:39 AM
I never liked NDiaz so watching him get frustrated and lose was abit enjoyable. Great fights tonite even though the big fights were by decision.
Posted By: TheR (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 03:01 AM
Diaz in so many words contemplates retirement and says he "doesn't have time for this ****."
Yeah, good riddance to bad rubbish.
Posted By: Guest#4357 (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 03:16 AM
Carlos Condit clearly landed far more clean an effective punches and maintained Octagon control the entire fight.
With all due respect, anybody who believes Diaz won clearly does not understand fighting.
Condit did not run, he simply refused to stand still with his back up against the fence and trade...something everybody in MMA really needs to learn.
If Diaz did not have 2 left feet and had the boxing skill to shoot angles and cut off the ring, this would have been a better fight.
As it was, Condit clearly won going away.
And Greg Jackson showed yet again that he is far and way the preeminent trainer/strategist in MMA.

I was at the fight with great seats..Condit landed way more damaging strikes..even if less..he kicked..he threw backfists(way too many actually) but he very clearly won the fight. He threw knees ..great leg kicks..and was the better fighter tonight.

Koscheck winning was a joke.

____
I'm a big Diaz mark and after the 3rd round I told my son "This is the kind of fight the Diaz brothers lose." After rd 4 I stood up and waited for it to be over. If you want to throw blame on someone, I'd say level it at Diaz's corner.
Condit hurdled Diaz. Whatever. That style won this fight. Will he use it now to win every fight? Given that he's in the GJ camp, I'd say Why the hell not? But now every wrestler is going to want to double leg him from bell 1.
If Diaz retires, good on him. He's come so far in his life, made a big bundle of money doing something he was really good at and didn't get busted up too badly in the process. Open a gym, teach bjj, train other guys and run marathons. Or don't. Invest it and live nicely off the dividends.
Losing like this sucks worse than getting KOed and maybe that's why it stings so much.
Posted By: rodeo (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 04:55 AM
Being the "Aggressor" is a stupid argument..counter punchers have always had success in the UFC ..and if somebody lets somebody else push the pace ..and uses the aggression against them..its called strategy.
Posted By: McStunna (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 05:12 AM
Bwahahaha now if burrito head nate would lose we can ship these 2 back to TJ.
Posted By: Guest#6023 (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 05:39 AM
It's so funny how people are saying Condit ran away. He executed the kind of game plan you want against Diaz. He didn't let Diaz back him up against the cage so Diaz could tee of on him. He outstruck Diaz and landed plenty of stiff leg kicks and some good head kicks. Diaz won the first two rounds for sure but Condit got the better of him the last three. Diaz got out worked plain and simple.

Stay Classy, Stockton
Posted By: s1rude (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 08:20 AM
Condit fought the most psychologically disciplined fight of his career. He avoided every trick that Diaz used to get into his head, he avoided getting pinned against the fence, and he never let Diaz bait him into brawling.
To accomplish that against a guy whose bread and butter is plodding forward and landing lots of punches you have to stay on your bicycle. That meant sacrificing some of his typical aggression in exchange for longevity. I also think that some of the combinations he landed would have opened up bigger opportunities on lesser opponents but Diaz has a hell of a chin. Long story short Condit should have won because he executed his gameplan. I'm not interested in a rematch because I think Condit solved the Diaz puzzle. Looking forward to the fight with GSP. Condit will be able to open up with his striking in that fight but I'm not sure he can stuff the takedowns.
Posted By: Todd (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 09:12 AM
I didn't get to see the fight, but from your description it sounds like Condit should have won. to sum up the fight "Diaz walked forward, Condit punched and kicked him the whole time". walking forward doesn't win you fights, effective striking grappling etc wins fights. Good for Condit, Diaz needs to check his ego.

What fight were you watching? Aside from the takedown in the final minute, Condit controlled about 3-1/2 - 4 minutes of the final round.
Diaz was the aggressor, but he wasn't doing anything. Condit was doing his damage and getting out of the way, it's called fighting 101.
You Diaz apologized have GOT to be kidding yourselves or none of you actually watched the fight.
Posted By: Guest#2454 (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 10:11 AM
Ok I am not a Diaz fan and I still would have been ok with the decision either way. Very close fight, Condit did seem to have more effective striking but was always backing up so does that mean Diaz had octagon control and or aggression? So if judging is based on those rules maybe Diaz should have won it? I didn't think it was robbery or anything just very close, tought call either way.
Posted By: Jason (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 10:40 AM
Typical of a dope smoking asshole to want to retire after being beaten. One loss that could have gone either way. And Nicholas, it is us that do not need your shit anymore. Go home to Stockton, do a couple of bong hits and you will forget how much of an asshole you truly are...
Posted By: Guest (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 11:04 AM
Roy Nelson's chin must be made of rock. My jaw hurts just from watching those knees from Werdum.
Koscheck owes the judges a beer. He was also lucky not to get docked a point for the finger in the eye after he'd already been warned.
Diaz can moan all he likes but just walking forward and punching thin air doesn't win you the fight. Instead of whinging about how Condit didn't stay still and get hit, he should have tried to take him down in the earlier rounds instead of talking trash. Condit edged round 2 and clearly won round 3 and 4. Round 1 could've gone either way whilst Diaz won round 5 with the takedown and submission attempt. It was nice to see the good guy win although a potentially massive PPV buyrate has bit the dust.

"Aaaaand here comes the Waaaaahmublance"
We have a winner and I'm soooo stealing this to say to people every time they start to speak...lol

Diaz wants to retire because he got owned. What a pussy.
Posted By: Tugman (Guest) on February 05, 2012 at 01:08 PM
It was a very technical fight and it was close. I don't think this was the worst decision made ever. I think Diaz's game where he doesn't check leg kicks and puts his chin and head out is a flaw he needs to try and fix. I doubt he will retire though. I think Cesar Gracie will get him to come back.
Posted By: Jeffrey (Registered) on February 05, 2012 at 01:22 PM
I love how everybody says Condit only ran and Diaz was the aggressor. Looking at Diaz after the fight somebody must have hit him a lot. May Mazagatti was sneaking shots in. I guess everybody's right though. Condit would have been much better off if he stood still and let Diaz hit him. What a stupid plan to move out of the way and hit Diaz more then he gets hit. Just plain mean to upset Nick like that. No wonder the poor guy had to cry like a bitch and retire. Condit was being plain mean not letting Nick jut hit him when all the strategists online say that's what he should have done.

This is where we get to see who is just a UFC fan, not really a fan of MMA. They just want rock'em sock'em robots.

All i can say is 49-46? i dunno ...
Pretty long and boring PPV as we've come to expect, glad i watched online for free, No $$ for you UFC (pro-sopa)

Based on effective striking, grappling, aggression, and octagon control.
-----------------------------------------------
Carlos had the better striking, but was backpedaling the whole fight.
Based on judging criteria, Diaz had octagon control and aggression.

So, Diaz should have won because he came forward and pushed the action? Okay...then Roy Nelson should have won as well.

________________________________________________
Nelson may have had octagon control, but Werdum was the aggressor as he was constantly going for the Thai clinch and using his knees.
Conduit ran, counter-punched, ran, counter-punched, ran, leg kick, ran, counter-punched, ran, counter-punched, ran, leg kicked, etc... for the entire 25 minutes.
Typical Greg Jackson camp mentality... fight to not lose instead of fighting to win.
