Cardio Freak DVD Review: UFC Ultimate Knockouts 6

Ultimate Knockouts has been a mainstay of UFC DVDs for years now starting with Ultimate Knockouts 1 released in 2003 all the way to Ultimate Knockouts 6, being released on January 27th. It’s a DVD that caters to your casual MMA fan that just wants to see a guy out cold thanks to another guys hand, foot, or knee.

Ultimate Knockouts 6 is hosted by Mike Goldberg and picks up at UFC 62. Goldberg tells us that no one has more UFC victories by (T)KO than Chuck Liddell.

UFC 62: Renato Sobral vs. Chuck Liddell

The Knockout: Liddell unloads on Sobral against the cage until he drops. Sobral recovers on the ground but Liddell stands above him and comes down with some big right hands and that forces the ref to stop the fight. Sobral pulls guard grabs the leg of the ref, not knowing the fight is over.

Knockout Rating: 3/10.

UFC Fight Night: Chris Leben vs. Jorge Santiago

The Knockout: Leben eats a straight and then knocks Santiago out cold with a left hook as Santiago has his eyes closed. Leben follows up with two more punches on the ground.

Knockout Rating: 7/10.

UFC 63: Eddie Sanchez vs. Mario Neto

The Knockout: Sanchez drops Neto with a big overhead right hand and then follows up with some ground and pound that leaves Neto out cold.

Knockout Rating: 6/10

UFC 63: Jens Pulver vs. Joe Lauzon

The Knockout: Lauzon catches Pulver with a knee in the plum clinch and then drops Pulver with a left hook. He follows up with punches on the ground as the ref dives in.

Knockout Rating: 5/10

UFC 63: Rashad Evans vs. Jason Lambert

The Knockout: Evans gets the takedown, mounts, postures up, and drops bombs on Lambert than leaves him out.

Knockout Rating: 4/10

Goldberg mentions Anderson Silva’s KO of Chris Leben.

UFC 64: Anderson Silva vs. Rich Franklin

The Knockout: Silva destroys the midsection of Franklin with knees in the plum clinch and then drops him with a knee to the head after breaking his nose with a knee and connecting with a high kick.

Knockout Rating: 7/10

UFC 64: Spencer Fisher vs. Dan Lauzon

The Knockout: Fisher connects with a knee to the body on the ground and then finishes him with an uppercut and straight left.

Knockout Rating: 4/10

Ultimate Finale 4: Pete Sell vs. Scott Smith

The Knockout: Sell hurts Smith with a left hook to the body. Sell rushes in and Smith catches him right on button that drops him and ends the fight.

Knockout Rating: 10/10

UFC 65: James Irvin vs. Hector Ramirez

The Knockout: Irvin drops him with a big right hand and then celebrates but the ref doesn’t stop it so Irvin kicks him in the body and finishes him with an elbow.

Knockout Rating: 6/10

UFC 65: Brandon Vera vs. Frank Mir

The Knockout: Vera catches Mir with a straight right, follows up with knees in the clinch that drops him, and then finishes him on the ground with punches.

Knockout Rating: 5/10

Goldberg walks us through Hughes vs. St. Pierre 1.

UFC 65: Matt Hughes vs. Georges St. Pierre

The Knockout: Hughes shoots for a takedown and GSP drops him with a head kick. GSP follows up with elbows on the ground that forces the ref to stop things.

Knockout Rating: 5/10

UFC Fight Night: Alan Belcher vs. Jorge Santiago

The Knockout: Belcher lands a spectacular head kick that knocks Santiago out cold and then delivers one more punch on the ground.

Knockout Rating: 10/10

UFC Fight Night: Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Riggs

The Knockout: Sanchez drops Riggs with a right and then rushes in with a knee as Riggs gets to his feet. He follows up with punches on the ground as the ref dives in.

Knockout Rating: 8/10

Goldberg walks us through the career of Forrest Griffin

UFC 66: Keith Jardine vs. Forrest Griffin

The Knockout: They get into a wild exchange and Griffin pulls guard. Jardine postures up and lands some big right hands that forces the ref to stop the fight.

Knockout Rating: 4/10

UFC 66: Tito Ortiz vs. Chuck Liddell

The Knockout: Liddell connects with an uppercut as Ortiz shoots. Liddell follows up with big right hands as he stands above Ortiz until the ref stops it.

Knockout Rating: 2/10

UFC Fight Night: Rashad Evans vs. Sean Salmon

The Knockout: Evans knocks Salmon out cold with a head kick and then scores with two more punches on the ground.

Knockout Rating: 10/10

UFC 67: Terry Martin vs. Jorge Rivera

The Knockout: Martin catches the body kick of Rivera and drops him with a right hand and then follows up on the ground with more right hands.

Knockout Rating: 7/10

Goldberg talks about Quinton Jackson has his power.

UFC 67: Quinton Jackson vs. Marvin Eastman

The Knockout: Jackson dirty boxes with Eastman and drops him with an uppercut followed by some big rights and then pounds him out on the ground.

Knockout Rating: 3/10

UFC 68: Renato Sobral vs. Jason Lambert

The Knockout: Sobral comes in with a front kick and Lambert catches him with a big left hook. He follows up on the ground with some big punches.

Knockout Rating: 7/10

UFC 69: Luke Cummo vs. Josh Haynes

The Knockout: Cummo drops him with a big right hand and Haynes takes down the referee as he comes in to stop the fight.

Knockout Rating: 8/10

UFC 69: Matt Serra vs. Georges St. Pierre

The Knockout: Serra stumbles GSP with a big right and then drops him with another right. Serra stands above GSP and comes down with bombs until the ref jumps in to stop it.

Knockout Rating: 5/10

UFC 71: Keith Jardine vs. Houston Alexander

The Knockout: Jardine stumbles Alexander but Alexander recovers and gets Jardine in a plum clinch where he rocks him with some big uppercuts and knees, The final uppercut forces Jardine to spit out his mouthpiece.

Knockout Rating: 9/10

UFC 71: Quinton Jackson vs. Chuck Liddell

The Knockout: Liddell connects with a body shot but Jackson uncoils with a big right that drops Liddell. Jackson follows up with big punches until the ref jumps in.

Knockout Rating: 5/10

UFC Fight Night: Anthony Johnson vs. Chad Reiner

The Knockout: Johnson stumbles Reiner with a left hook and then knocks him out cold with another left hook.

Knockout Rating: 7/10

UFC Fight Night: Drew McFedries vs. Jordan Radev

The Knockout: McFedries drops Radev with a big uppercut and then follows up with big right hands that leaves Radev out cold.

Knockout Rating: 7/10

UFC 72: Marcus Davis vs. Jason Tan

The Knockout: Davis connects with a big right hook and follows up with punches on the ground. The ref stops the fight but Tan goes for a single leg on Davis not realizing where he is.

Knockout Rating: 8/10

UFC 74: Patrick Cote vs. Kendall Grove

The Knockout: Cote drops Grove with a big right as the break from the clinch. Cote mounts Grove and then drops big right hands until the ref stops it.

Knockout Rating: 4/10

Goldberg talks about the rise of Houston Alexander.

UFC 75: Houston Alexander vs. Alessio Sakara

The Knockout: Alexander drops Sakara with a big knee and then unleashes some powerful ground and pound until the ref steps in.

Knockout Rating: 3/10

UFC 75: Thiago Silva vs. Tomas Drwal

The Knockout: Silva stumbles Drwal with a big right, scores with knees in the plum clinch, and then finishes him with a left hook.

Knockout Rating: 4/10

UFC 75: Dennis Siver vs. Naoyuki Kotani

The Knockout: Siver scores with a big left hook that drops Kotani and then follows up with two more big punches as the ref jumps in.

Knockout Rating: 5/10

UFC Fight Night: Gray Maynard vs. Joe Veres

The Knockout: Maynard scores with a big left hook and then follows it up with big punches on the ground.

Knockout Rating: 5/10

UFC Fight Night: Luke Cummo vs. Edilberto Crocota

The Knockout: Cummo connects with a big right that has Crocota looking elsewhere and then follows with two more big rights than finishes off Crocota.

UFC Fight Night: Chris Leben vs. Terry Martin

The Knockout: Martin scores with a big right that stumbles Leben and then Leben presses forward and drops Martin with a big left hook and finishes him with another big punch on the ground.

UFC Fight Night: Nate Quarry vs. Pete Sell

The Knockout: Quarry drops Sell with a big right hand and then dives in with another big right hand that ends Sell.

Knockout Rating: 6/10

Goldberg talks about Mirko “Cro Cop” and his highlight reel knockouts.

UFC 70: Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Mirko “Cro Cop”

The Knockout: Gonzaga catches Mirko with “the head kick heard round the world” that Mirko still hasn’t recovered from.

Knockout Rating: 10/10
