The FJ Fury 01.01.10: Mayweather-Pacquiao Impasse Surfaces a Lot of Hypocrisies, Contradictions, and Ironies
Posted by FJ Parlan on 01.01.2010

Make THE fight happen. (Photo via ESPN Boxing)

It's been a while, folks.

First of all, I want to wish you all a happy New Year.

For Christmas day, I know we boxing fans all wished for one thing for the sport: for the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight to happen.

Now, after witnessing a lot of tomfoolery go on and on about actually making that fight happen, we find ourselves wishing it again for the New Year.

If you look around at boxing sites from the most obscure internet source to the mainstream newspapers, the section of boxing and sports headlines the potential fight of the century between Mayweather and Pacquiao. There are a lot of nonsense going on, and, as one would imagine, even a lot more of nonsense being written. So, for all your updates and the coverage of the Mayweather-Pacquiao saga, make it a habit to check 411mania.com/boxing.

"The FJ Fury" returns and there's only one thing to talk about.

The negotiations for the pound-for-pound showdown of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is at an impasse.

Now how many times have you read that this week? Strangely though, if the fight is at an impasse and is not moving, there should be nothing much to report about, right?

Well, not really. At least one news writer has filed this case inside the "Man Bites Dog" docket. That tells you a lot about how big this fight is. It could seriously be the biggest fight of all-time that any or all the issues pertaining to it can grab a news heading. First, the purse split; thought to be the detail that would be most difficult to settle, it was fixed most diplomatically. Then, the fight venue; everyone knew the fight was eventually landing in Las Vegas, but Jerry Jones put up a good fight-- damn would Mayweather-Pacquiao be great at the $1.2 billion, 100,000-capacity Cowboys Stadium! Everything IS bigger in Texas. That was headline-worthy as well.

The current stalemate the negotiation is standing at wrings the most balderdash but is also the most compelling so far. Truly a stalemate, as people are now looking at the discussions as a chess match between the two business sides. The fight is reportedly hanging in the balance, and all those problems root from one thing-- the drug tests.

As we all know, the camp of Mayweather Jr. asked for a special drug testing protocol for the fight. This is based on the accusations originally made by his father, Floyd Sr., about Pacquiao being on performance-enhancement drugs.

I guess special fights, with special fighters, should be given special treatments. That's why as baseless as one would argue Mayweather's allegations to be, you would give this one a pass. But as the issue sets sail, I observe a lot of hypocrisies, contradictions, and ironies from everyone involved surfacing.

The primary reason Mayweather Sr. may have sniffed something fishy about the freakish Filipino fighter is his ascension to and domination of the higher weight classes. Pacquiao went up from 106 all the way to a maximum of 144 lbs. in his last fight, and he continues to knock people down and out.

If this is unnatural to Floyd Sr., then how about his son? Junior fought as low as the super featherweight limit to the junior middleweight limit (130-154 pounds). Mayweather Jr. himself has stated that he was around the same weight that Pacquiao was as a teenager, only he was an amateur (he said this to demean Pacquiao's achievement in the professional ranks of winning a title in as low as the flyweight division and moving up in weight like he did). Clearly, Floyd Jr. understands the natural process of gaining weight (and subsequently, the special process of sustaining boxing success in that manner), so what is he yapping about?

A number of others have bought the ticket to the bandwagon, including the owner of Golden Boy Promotions (the company promoting Mayweather for this fight), the Golden Boy himself, Oscar De la Hoya. (By the way, Mayweather Jr. has always said that he is his own boss unlike Pacquiao, who has Bob Arum. So why is GBP promoting him in this fight? Hy-po-cri-ti-cal.)

Making the highly-respected Ring magazine website (which he also now owns) his soapbox blog, De la Hoya wrote these lines recently:

"I'm saying to myself, 'Wow. Those Mosley punches, those Vargas punches and those Pacquiao punches all felt the same.'"

As some of us would remember, De la Hoya blatantly said that Pacquiao doesn't hit hard and he didn't have enough power to knock him out. Bad Left Hook points out that De la Hoya's latest statement was either a contradiction or a lie. I'm picking De la Hoya's poison and picking the former.

The same source offered a 2008 quote from De la Hoya's gopher, and one of the most vocal representatives of Mayweather, Richard Schaefer. Schaefer was defending their stable's fighter, Shane Mosley, against submitting to other drug tests beyond what the Nevada State Athletic Commission requires. Yeah, and now the opponent of the fighter they represent should be enforced to? If Earl Hickey knows this, he would have said that this is hypochronical. Or hypoconjugal. Hypothetical?

Promoters are sometimes understood to be that way. They go out of their way to support their fighter and to criticize other fighters, even if they have to lie. Top Rank head honcho Bob Arum has never been at a loss for that (and hyperbole). Mayweather asked for an Olympic-style drug testing for his fight against Pacquiao, a standard that can be conducted by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). Such a test includes random blood testing at any time before the fight. According to Arum, Pacquiao refuses to have blood taken from him 30-days prior to the fight, and will only accept up to three "random" blood withdrawals: one at the kickoff press conference (originally scheduled for mid-January), 30 days before the fight, and right after the fight.

But, as one of my colleagues here at 411 noticed, Pacquiao was taped to have taken a blood test as close as 14 24 days to fight night (against Ricky Hatton in the HBO 24/7 show). Arum also indicated that Pacquiao doesn't have a liking to needles making contact with his body, but Pacquiao has tattoos all over his body.

Was Arum just putting words into Pacquiao's mouth? If he lied, no surprise there. Arum is a promoter now and a lawyer before that-- it just ups the chances of committing a lie! Furthermore, if Pacquiao really does think that blood withdrawal close to the fight can physically or mentally weaken him, or that he's just superstitious about it, then that HBO 24/7 clip puts punch holes in his argument. Thus, even Pacquiao doesn't escape this hypocrisy hysteria.

Another promoter, Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather's promotional outfit, said that his client has taken concessions to Pacquiao in the fight deal (the 50-50 purse split and the 147 lb. limit). If that doesn't fall under hypocrisy, contradiction, or irony... it's a lie. Oh, these promoters. The 50-50 purse split is arguable both ways, but at the end of the day, it is just. And the 147 lb. limit? Can anyone please tell me how that favors Pacquiao more than Mayweather? If I remember correctly, some reports indicated that Mayweather made absurd demands for the fight to take place at 154. Whether those are rumors of not, it's still absurd. So is Ellerbe's lie.

So Mayweather Jr. has conceivably trapped Pacquiao in the warfare outside the ring. Mayweather necessitated a stricter drug testing in the contract, Pacquiao budges at it, and now, some people are doubting Pacquiao. But it continues to befuddle many smart boxing fans how the onus is on Pacquiao to prove his innocence. It's a baseless accusation in the first place, something that should simply be ignored. Instead, it has worked its way as a legit concern. Shrewd Mayweathers.

So, what does Pacquiao do? He sues the Mayweathers.

The craziness in the Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations has intensified another notch.

Those craziness floated up some normal human errors like hypocrisies, contradictions, ironies, and lies for the people involved. Perhaps they all should use mirrors and memory boosters to avoid it.

I'm susceptible to it as much as we all are. Like William Detloff, I think that if Mayweather really thinks that Pacquiao is on something, then by all means he is on his right by pushing it, if only to find the truth and protect himself. But I can't blame Pacquiao either by telling Mayweather Jr. to go screw himself and refusing to be pushed. He's on his right too. I'm pointing my finger at it yet I don't espouse the most constructive and fair solution. Maybe I'm hypocritical, contradictory, ironic, or a liar. I don't know.

But I do know this: amidst all this craziness, the craziest thing is both Pacquiao and Mayweather walking away from the kind of money they will make in this fight.

Crashing Right Hooks:

The random thoughts return as well, readers...

- If this fight falls through, there wouldn't be a replacement. And what I mean is there's no substitute to this event. You can't call a new opponent a "replacement." It just won't deserve it. This bout is as big as it ever, ever gets.

- But if it does, and hopefully and begrudgingly not, Pacquiao could be fighting Paulie Malignaggi. I know you would easily dismiss that as an easy Pacquiao win, but I have my reservations (not saying Pacquiao loses, though). If the news about Mayweather-Pacquiao still come along this slowly, I would write about it.

- This portion is called "Crashing Right Hooks", but I will talk about a certain left straight. It's called "The Pacquiao" over at the "other" sport (if you may label it) and it's getting pretty popular there. BJ Penn and Frank Mir said they used it to win their recent fights.

- It really sucks that Pacquiao is running for politics right now. The fight with Mayweather could be delayed and the event will be set up even bigger. If it gets pushed to late 2010 and they both take tune-up fights, I'll also be fine with it. Pacquiao can fight Yuri Foreman at 154 for a title, or Malignaggi. As for Mayweather, err...

- If Malignaggi is not fighting Pacquiao, some have suggested that he fight in the undercard of Pacquiao-Mayweather to face Timothy Bradley. It's a main event on its own but for this once-in-a-generation event, a great undercard is a must.

- This just in: A video from TMZ was posted right here at 411 Boxing showing Mayweather toying and trash talking with a sparring partner (I won't give you the link but you can check it out, as it may be transferred to the Media section from News when our ed. comes back). Here's what I had to say in the comments: "What unimpressive? Did you see how Floyd quickly docked that punch early in the video? He was toying with this guy. What's unimpressive is him trash talking with the guy working with him. Good boxing, bad talking."

- Told you, it's all about Pacquiao vs. Mayweather.

- I will write about my decade's boxing awards soon. Just stay tuned.

- 411Maniacs, boxing fans, and everyone in between, let's talk about sports, stuffs, and everything in between! Follow my on Facebook and Twitter. Hit me there, and I'll hit you back. Thanks a lot!

you need to do more research. it has been on the news the last few days that the 24/7 episode might have aired 14 days before the hatton/pacman fight but the blood test was done over 20 days almost 30 days.

Why is Pacquiao suing Mayweather Jr for defamation over something his FATHER said? The worst thing that Jr said was that he wasn't sure if he'd face a fair fight, and that was after Pacquiao refused the drug test.

I think the Mayweather camp is just afraid of losing to a Filipino. They are imposing a double standard because he is a Filipino. They probably can't accept that a Filipino can be as good as Pacquiao. In addition, the De La Hoya promotion still cannot accept that a Filipino beat their pride fighter. They probably don't want a second pride fighter to follow.

Most fighters who climb weight classes don't improve on their knockout percentages, especially at their highest weight...seems fishy. He should just take the tests and get it over with

Had there been no tests under regulations in the past? Why does it have to be the olympic style? This is not the olympics! This is what makes a professional athlete different from an olympic athlete. After all they are fighting at the same weight level, what's the difference? They're at the same weight and what matters is their skill and ability. Afterall, everyone will find out soon that all this hype of tests for Pacquiao is probably Mayweather's way out....and fear of knock out and end of boxing like De La Hoya.

Pacman is naturally a 145lb fighter during fight night. Please do some research people.

Most fighters may not improve their knockout percentages as they move up weight class but well, Pacquiao is an exception!

there wasn't really any fight at all. floyd just took as for a ride.
he ride along with what the public wants then took them for a ride himself. he didn't ask for this fight, he just got suck into it.

correction to your blood test date. The blood test was taken 24 days before the fight.
The blood test fiasco was a carefully planned Mayweather tactic. Mayweather knew that the last time Pacquiao lost, there was a video recording of pacquiao blaming the two days before the fight blood test due to the hospital handling the blood test that was done a month prior to the fight, somehow was lost and he has to give another blood test. Thus, as per Pacquiao's belief that it weakens him.
So, Mayweather used this tactic this time to get unto Pacquiao's head but somehow the tactic got screwed up due to the PED accusation they did, which is very very toxic.

@Even Still
Still you are one of the most ignorant person commenting about this. Pacquiao agreed to be tested even after the fight which is actually the most important test. Besides he don't want to be pushed around by (Afraid) Mayweather with his demands.

Why suing? Pacquiao has no record of cheating whatsoever, and he'll be running for congress, you do the math.

He's always been praised a clean fighter, never head-butt, never low-blow. ODLH and Mayweather can't simply accept a Filipino is making waves ang breaking records. It's a double standard.

For the guest who posted, Floyd directly accused Pacquiao of using PEDs during his rebuttal with RA the rapper. Why should Manny have to prove his innocence in using PEDs when he is already declared clean by NSAC? A lot of people were fooled by the smear campaign of Mayweathers to destroy Manny's achievements out of envy.

@loi, you haven't listen to rugged mans interview of floyd, where floyd said the philippines produces the best enhancing drugs....look it up...

Posted By: boxnut (Guest)  on January 01, 2010 at 02:39 AM

if u have seen the actual weight of pacquiao in the ring, he only gain 5 lbs.. from barrera to cotto, his weight in the ring is from 144 to 149 lbs.. weight at the weight-in is different from weight in actual fight.. in the hatton-pacman fight, the blood test was done 24 days before the fight but it was aired 14 days in 24/7.. pacquiao doesnt refuse drug testing, he only wants not to be tested 3 days before the fight becoz it makes him weak, thats true when i saw the interview after his first fight to morales.. he was taken blood 2 days before the fight becoz his medical records was lost in the hospital (seems questionable).. blood test before the fight is practically the same blood test right after the fight, so why GBP and Mayweather wants to get the blood of pacman before the fight? im sure PBF will be in coma state after the fight, he will not know the result if blood test will be conducted after the fight

Posted By: Rod (Guest)  on January 01, 2010 at 02:53 AM

blood is used for initial testing then urine test for more extensive testing

Posted By: entradero (Guest)  on January 01, 2010 at 02:56 AM

Why is Pacquiao suing Mayweather Jr for defamation over something his FATHER said? - @ lol: if i only i have the link, but try to do the research. there was an interview with the rugged man and jr was caught saying something against pacquiao. plus, mayweather said that the philippines is good for producing the best peds. So gayweather is going against the whole nation now.

Posted By: mastarockafella (Guest)  on January 01, 2010 at 03:06 AM

on pacquiao being caught in the hypocrisy, as the video on 24/7 fight against hatton shows, please check the article of D'Source where he attached a video on Pacquiao being interviewed over local TV in the Philippines where he lamented being subjected to blood test two days prior to his fight with Morales where he lost.
He says this has weaken him and the it shows on the strength of his punches.

Morales in an interview after the fight said that Pacquiao's punches were not that strong.

Rightly or wrongly, Pacquiao believing that the test weakens him and still offering to be tested right after the fight is merely doing what he thinks is right, not as you suggesting, engaging himself in some form of hypocrisy.
The guy just merely wants to win.

Posted By: Gwyn Clarisa (Guest)  on January 01, 2010 at 03:06 AM

So, you trying to say NSAC not doing their job right because pacquiao never get positive of any of their test.Don't be damn like gayweather be clown stupid.

"Most fighters who climb weight classes don't improve on their knockout percentages, especially at their highest weight...seems fishy. He should just take the tests and get it over with."

@Even Still, before giving comments, be sure of your facts. You are plainly unfamiliar with Pacquiao's KO history. Earlier in his career, Pacquiao has not been known for his "boxing" skills but for his "punching" skills. His vaunted left and his "going for the kill" instinct were the main reasons why he is known as the "most exciting boxer" in this generation.

Besides, Pacquiao does not belong to your "most fighters" category. He is now compared to the all-time-greats.

its time to replace the nevada commission to the mayweather commission with schaeffer as its new head. then boxing will be a clean sport again. the nevada commision failed in its mandate. its system is not trusted by gbp and mayweather.

Posted By: red (Guest)  on January 01, 2010 at 03:45 AM

Just to clarify one thing... Pacquiao's blood test before the Hatton fight happened about 24 days before the fight as verified by the doctor. The episode of the 24/7 aired two weeks (14 days) before the fight which would mean the test had to be record at an earlier date.

Even still (guest). Have you heard about Henry Armstrong? If you do, then it's not farfetched that another Henry Armstrong, under the name of Manny Pacquiao, will appear on the 21st Century. I hope do your research so that you will not be doubtful on super athlete's great achievement who comes only once in a century.

about the steroids thing. When pacquiao fought morales at 135, he was 144 during the fight night. With Marquez, he was 145. With Diaz, he was 146. With Dela Hoya, he was 1481/2. With Hatton, he was 148. With Cotto, he was 149. And he walks around 155 when he's not in a fight. What's the big difference in weight? The fact is, now that pacquiao is fighting the bigger guys, he's still eating and not dehydrating. And during the fight night, he's literally smaller than them except the stupid dela hoya who came in at 147. Hatton was 154, Cotto was 159. Think!

Its so sad that a lot of people still don't understand that the burden of proof is on the accuser not the accused. They still can't comprehend the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

Until they experience themselves how it feels to be in such a predicament, these basic tenets of true justice will never be appreciated or exercised.

Its just so sad, after all these centuries, in boxing or much more in life, many still don't get it!

the blood testing in the pac-hatton 24/7 was done 24 days before the fight. nice article man.

good article. just one thing to point out though: tattoos involve needles in a way that it doesn't draw blood or suck blood from you. extracting blood is a different thing and that't what bothers manny especially if it's a day or a couple of days before the fight. and yeah, pacquiao's taken blood tests before his fight with hatton but it was done actually 24 days before the fight and not 14 days.

Posted By: Bartolome (Guest)  on January 01, 2010 at 05:24 AM

it's clear you are deliberately not cross checking your details. the 24/7 video on the LA blood test on pacquiao was not done 14 days before the hatton fight. you did not even bother to check with the clinic or doctor who performed the job. is it your kind of responsible journalism in america? you are just reproducing a big fat lie and passing it off as gospel truth. we call it in manila gross irresponsibility and incompetence of the first order! as far as the records would show it was taken 24 days before fight night. why not check it with the hbo crew, at least?
one must be pointed out here, the records, print and broadcast interviews, confirm floyd sr., floyd, jr., his uncle roger, schaefer, de la hoya, all maligned pacquiao. anyway a case has already been filed in court and pacquiao through his lawyers are certainly ready to present all the evidences and witnesses needed to pin down all the accused.
and watch out. more people and news entities, i understand, will also be sued. they better start shopping for good lawyers.
the issue involved here is not only about making a fight everybody wants to see. it is more importantly about honor, pride, dignity, decency and hard work being ruined by scheming and shameless people masquerading as people wanting to level the playing field.
they are simply overbearing hooligans who want to dictate the rule of the game. sadly though the mayweathers and golden boy people are not the authority and governing bodies of professional boxing. they are only players in boxing where certain terms are negotiated by the parties involved in a particular fight while the rules and procedures are the concern and jurisdiction of the authorities. so don' t be more pious than the pope. just write straight and with great objectivity.

There is a difference between having your body pricked with tattoo needles and having your blood drawn for testing. I don't see anything hypocritical about that. But what I really think is that Mayweather is really a malicious guy and Pacquiao made the right decision to sue him. I agree with those who believe that Mayweather had really no intention of facing Pacquiao in the ring. Money is simply a foulmouthed delusional guy. It is obvious that he simply wanted to poison people's minds with respect to the achievements of Pacquiao. This should be most obvious to everyone when Mayweather issued a press statement about Pacquiao's unwillingness to play fairly when Pacquiao made that COMPLETELY HARMLESS counterproposal
to his {Mayweather's) USADA administered doping test proposal. To immediately conclude/dismiss Pacquiao's counterproposal as coming from someone who has something to hide clearly shows Mayweather's sinister motives.

pacquiao has been fighting at the 140's during fight night since the morales fight. that was a long time ago. by now, pacquiao has improved his ko percentage in the welterweight divisions.

avoid using the sentence "REFUSES TO BLOOD TEST". Thats not true. he already ok to the blood test. But not as close as one day to the figth(or during weigthin time). Its pretty much trick. What is the differrent of after the fight. enen he is still in the ring, as you like. it is more accurate. Dont make trick. Its already done before.

FLoyd and GBP are liars, all these contradicting and double standards and ridiculous accusations and no ending excuses is killing this beautiful sports. LETS CRUCIFY all of them!!! These people should be banned in any sports event for them to learn and set a good example that these type of people has no place in good sports. If we don't we won't be getting a quality fights anymore either they cheat or lie again or fix the fight. these GBP and Floyd are liars let's put them in jail...

actually to tell you guys. if a fighter really belives he can do the job all he need to do is sign the contract. 40 mil is a life time pay for a boxer.for NSAC and USADA both agency can do the job its just that its not good to send a fighter or any athlete weither its a runner or a boxer to a competition thats feels his on a handycap mode.i know both boxers will under gop the same test but what is the difference of having the test after the match?experts knew that PEDS,EPO or HGH can be benefitial for the athlete during days without competition for desired result can be achive after several weeks or months, so whats the big difference in having the test after the match? Unless a fighter wont admit they want a tune up fight first before going all out. what can you say about this MR Parlan?

FJ! recent reports have it that the video was done 24days before the Hatton fight..as for the needles, its not the needles per se, but drawing blood so close to a fight.Pac had an interview after the loss to Morales where he narrated how an abrupt blood check 2days before the fight so affected him physically and psychologically that it manifested in the fight..this interview was in 2005,and it explains his aversions now..this video of the interview is now out in the forums..check on it. it brings a new dimension to his contention..

I think the only thing to do to eradicate all of these nonsense is, just simply going back to basics..

I think the thin red line lies in between Rules and Demands. The latter needs to be set through a contract, while the former was already been esblished by prominent and compitent individuals to promote order in the sport.

Therefore, if both parties fail to meet at one end, they should follow what is in the rule of professional boxing.

Pacquiao should NOT take the test unless otherwise it's by his own will or required by the rule of professional boxing..but if it's meant jst to give in to BASELESS demands of a BALLSLESS opponent like floyd..he'd better go for yuri, although not as great fight compared to Floyd's but definitely a more sensible one.

All this mess would all go away had Mayweather agrees to fight PAc under REGULAR boxing rules and regulation like all other fighters who fought pacquiao before.

There should not be any special circumstance, since pacquiao never ever ever testing positive for illegal drug use.

We, the fan and boxing community, should not dignify Mayweather request's for unnecessary special testing. It cheapens the sport.

In addition to what you have been said. Among all other boxers the come up in weights and won belts including Leonard, ODLH, Mayweather. Why is it that only Manny has been accused of doping when hes doing the same thing as these guys?

The blood test on Manny before the Hatton fight was done 24 days before the fight and not 14.

Mayweather Sr. also said that his son will beat Manny's ass with or without PED. Then why are they insisting the Manny take the test?

A lot of people are saying "If Manny does not have anything to hide, why not take the test and get this fight done."

Now I say this, "if the Mayweathers cannot proved that Manny is on drugs or have history of doping, why not drop that damn Olympic style drug test and get this fight done"

is it possible that the Mayweather camp had seen this interview in their research on pacquiao? you bet! its 5yrs old and is a public record..if so, then they can use this information to put pacquiao in a no-win, damn if you do-damn if you dont situation!which is precisely what is happening..ever wondered why the negotiations on other issues like purse, gloves, etc were so fast and floyd even agreed to a $10M per excess pound penalty? He was completely accomodating and that was disturbing..it was too good to be true..and then they dropped this baseless, non-mandated blood test demand which stemmed from an accusation by..surprise..Floyd Sr!hehehe..they play their cards deviously! they have manny already reeling at the ropes!but dont count manny out yet.he can still hit back with a counterpunch they wont see coming!and usually its that kind of punch that knocks you out!

Be patient, the pacman will undergo blood testing but in court to support his lawsuit vs the father and son trash talkers. Not because it is mandated by the duo and the double-talk promoters. MP is the one being challenged and he is the pound for pound king and the champion, isn't he?

The 24/7 episode was shown 14 days before the fight not that Pacquaio was tested 14 days before the fight. Another thing is having tattoo and being tested is different story! Manny did not have tattoo 30 days before the fight. Lol, please do a little research sir. (-_-)v

oscar tried evrything to stop pacquiao's ascension to boxing superstardom.. he fight manny himself and was humiliated with a one-sided fight.. he faced him with his boy... ricky but guess what? 2-round ko... when mosley-pacman didnt come into fruition.. he backed up cotto to win the fight against pacman... its all personal for oscar... now that he sees he cannot win against manny in the ring, he then now tried a different approach: destroy manny's reputation and name.. what about the mayweathers' motives? they cannot take it that pacman has taken jr's place in the boxing community/world: jealousy!!
but guess wat? you can never put a good man down.. i'm with manny on his defamation case, but please after this case, try submitting to this random blood testing just to clear speculation for your own sake..from the very start, they have no plans to engage pacman in the ring.. only to put a question to pacuiao's achievement.. a very2 dirty tactic from all the accusers.. mayweathers/GBP.. ITS a well planned CONSPIRACY!!

Comment to Guest:
Pacquiao sued Mayweather not simply because of what Floyd Sr. said. It is because of a lot of accusations in the mix. Most particular Floyd Jr.'s baseless accusations of "Philippines has the best performance enhancement drugs" . .

This fight will never happen. Floyd was even so scared of Cotto, Mosley, Margarito and Williams, that he went on a hiatus from boxing, since he didn't want to lose his "0". Now, that Pacquiao has beaten Cotto to a pulp, I can't believe how Floyd could muster the courage to face Pacman in the ring. So, I warn you all, "no amount of millions could ever force Mayweather, Jr. to fight with Pacman in the ring. This fight will never happen, never. That's why, baseless accusations, and demands will be coming over and over again, because Mayweather, Jr.'s ego will never make a statement that "he is afraid to fight the Pacman".....So, better close this topic of a Pacquiao-Mayweather match up. We will never get to see this fight......

I agree... this is all craziness...you, me, everybody got stuck with these. In the first place lil' floyd said he is the greatest and pacquiao is easy work for him plus guaranteed millions of dollars to pay his bills...so then step in the ring fast and KO the little guy,,,floyd is the bigger guy and I believe in his skills. But I believe and NSAC believe that paccy is clean so whats the problem. Too bad no more ultrafight

If the fight is trully off, the biggest loser here is the fighter who needs the money most. Financially, Pacman is very liquid and stable whereas Floyd is saddled with gambling debts, IRS and porperty tax problems, investment losses (Willie's PONCE scheme), court cases with JP MOrgan, Ashley Realty, ETC. With these ridiculous insinuations and accusations, who do you think will suffer most if this fight does not materialize?

The Mayweather team stated publicly that this video was taken 14 days before the Hatton fight, but the latest reports from HBO and a website, that the actual video above was shot 24 days before the Hatton fight, and aired 14 days before the Hatton fight.

But it was actually and precisely 24 days recorded before the fight with Hatton.

Anyway there's a take of a 2005 video interview (post Pacquiao vs. Morales I) on Youtube right now of Pacman on the issue of taking a blood test TWO DAYS (or anywhere near to Fight Night) before the fight with English subs attached.

I’m sure the Mayweather camp did their homework on this one, and are looking into a way to gain an advantage over Manny come fight night, and I’m sure they looked into the on goings of Pacman’s last lost.

Look, here is the deal people, this is about money and hype. No doubt little boy floyd is afraid of Manny. After Manny destroys the whimp, he should fight Oscar o he same night...Oscar will go down quicker than floyd. (btw, oscar is my favorite fighter, he is just making me sick)

Floyd offended 92 million people of the Philippine by saying that the Philippines is the #1 producer of Perfomane Enhancing Drug !! Pacman will get his millions from Floyd's Lawsuit and he will use that money to create jobs for the poor people of the Philippines !!!

The promoters, HBO and the sponsors need to raise the purse and should offer a compromise between the two camps. All the Mayweather camp needs to do is to back off full astern, say all their poems, sorry, blah blah blah, yada yada yada and accept a compromise. Pacquiao needs to pull out that lawsuit and also accept the compromise. Then both should sign the contract and we all can see the promise land. Then we can resume our job of throwing mud to each other again to show our loyalty to whomever we are rooting for. The bottom line is, we all want to see this fight happen. Who don't?.

I agree with wendy on the research part.

it's been out in the news that the blood test was 20-30 days from the fight. it was the episode that aired 14 days before the fight.

there's also a video of pacquiao, explaining how he lost his pop due to blood taken the day before the morales fight (1st one where he loss by UD). it's on a foreign language but there's one that's subbed. fasting paired with blood withdrawal does make you weak.
specially since boxing involves taking and limiting weights.

Mr Schaffer of golden boy operates on a double standard ploy. This testing BS is just to harrass MP prior to the fight. They know he has nothing to hide, but they only want to gain advantage and weaken MP prior to entering the ring. By doing so, they would like to use the Vampire strategy.
As I was reading most of the news realeases, no one professional boxer at Vegas has ever been subjected, tested or undergone to this USWADA demand BS. We in our country beleive MP is the man, an innocent man falsely accused by overly jealous people. Glad that MP is taking his stand.. Go MP.

pac walks around at 150+ lbs, he's weighed 145-148 on fight night, since he was at 130...he's simply fighting around his walk around weight...he was dehydrating himself before, now's he's not having to that, he retains more power, in reality he's gained 5 lbs, in 4 years is that fishy?get your facts straight, or go watch ufc

I understand why Pacquiao doesn't want to get blood drawn from him days before the fight, but I'm sure if they wanted to, they could have reached a compromise somewhere. I blame both teams for this whole fiasco. I can't believe they let it get out of hand like this.

Foreigners will never understand the Filipino mind. We come from a country considered by all as third world. We don’t have much to brag about our current situation but we still have our pride. For the other races, one will submit to a test to prove to other people that they are wrong. For most Filipinos, it is, “Why should I do the test when I know I haven’t done anything wrong? To hell with what they will say. Why should I bow down to these demands when I am the one who should be making the demand?” Pride. We express it in different ways. Good or bad, that is what we are.

For the record, I am praying that Manny will not submit to any extra test other than what is mandated by law. To hell will the money, he is already very rich. mayweather is the one in need of money. I am not a racist, but this time I would like to show the other races out there that we are not pushovers. We are not a rich country and even in our standard, more than half of our people are below the middle class level(this is a very optimistic stat). Manny foreigners don’t understand why Manny is giving away $40M. Maybe in other country money is everthing but for us Filipinos, there are other important things. Things like principle, pride and doing what you believe is right, damn the torpedoes. Again we are not rich but we are someone. If we discard our pride, our principles, we will be nothing. Again this maybe good or bad, but that is what we are.

@ Even Still: If you make your research, you would find out that Pacman's KO percentage has gone down as he fights heavier opponent. When he was lighter, his average KO round was in the 5th round, but recently, his average KO round is the 10th round. Make your research before you make comments. LOL

Actuially, PBF Jr. said the worst thing when he said that the Philippines produce the best PED thereby maligning all the athletes coming from the Philippines such as Elorde, Efren Reyes, Paeng Nepomuceno, etc.

my guess is, the lies Arum peddled about Pacquiao being afraid of needles, or being superstitious is an attempt to not broadcast a Pacquiao weakness --- that Pacquiao believes blood draws near a fight weaken him (as proven by Pacquiao's statements after losing).

The Mayweathers said that they can easily defeat Pacquiao with or without roids. If so, why then they still insist of the random blood extraction even when they are guaranteed $20 million plus?

The famous Ducker clans:
1. Ampatuan clan
2. Mayweather clan

The thing about Mayweather is he isnt really knocking people out at these higher weight classes. He is just beating them up. Pac still somehow has power at this higer weight classes, which to some is suspect. I can understand why.

is mayweather saying tht NSAC is not credible? NSAC should also sue mayweather's for this. NSAC and other boxing authorities should not let mayweather over step them.
