Wasn't this supposed to be a tune up fight for Jones vs. Hopkins?

I'm Australian, very happy for Danny Green, the whole country went batshit last night for him. BUT ... All I wanted was Hopkins/RJJ! Damn it!

I think it was a bad ref stoppage. I think Jones was hurt but not badly hurt. I think he was waiting for Green to punch himself out. Only problem was he didn't throw back and the ref jumped in. My two cents.

Honestly, I think it was a pretty decent stoppage, on the referee's part. I'd even go as far as saying that after the first knockdown, following the hook to the ear, Roy was, for all intents and purposes, done.

He wasn't responding to the ref, he wasn't really doing too much to protect himself, and, most telling, he wasn't throwing back or creating angles for himself to throw back.

Ref was simply doing his job.

After seeing that, Roy's days as even a fringe contender, in any weight class, seem to be done. He still looks to have the ability to wipe the ring with about 85% of the fighters in the sport, justy no longer many of the contenders or champions.

If Hopkins gets by his fight, Jones vs. Hopkins, in my opinion, is still going to happen.

Only difference is that it probably won't be in Vegas (Roy's or Bernard's hometowns for the sake of drawing some kind of attendance figure) and that Roy is probably going to have to take a 35/65 split. with Roy getting the short end, to make the fight happen.

Oh well.

Great to see a australian knock out an american. And still americans say its s bad stoppage , would it have been bad the other way around? And why wasnt there a post in the news column too ashamed?

To be honest it was a freak shot behind the ear and it should have been stopped than!

It was clear Jones was out on his feet when the ref giving him the standing count but in my opinion he weathered the storm of green so foul again on bad reffing !

He should have stopped it but didn't!

He should have let it go and stopped it !

It was a good stoppage because Jones Jr. was doing nothing to fight back. He was getting pulverized and was essentially turtling on his feet. In my mind, that means you won a fight.

Love these Austrailians, can't be great at anything. So they wait for elderly Americans to beat up on. And their proud, we Americans do it all day everyday on the biggest stages. WE OWN THE WORLD!

Yes... You nailed it. American boxers getting beat by boxer from other countries is such a rare occurence that when it happens we just try to brush it under the rug and hope that nobody notices the American just got his ass kicked. Same thing happened when Calzaghe destroyed Jones and Hopkins... we just denied it ever happened.

Good stoppage. He's clearly staggered about five seconds before the end.

Look. Jones always fought an unconventional style. Feet closer together than other guys, on his toes, no jabs, daring guys to come in and get countered.

This Jones? Jabbing. Flat footed. Wide base. He looked like a heavyweight in there, and he just can't fight that way. If this is Jones now, if he can't do what made him successful before, then he's totally done.

Just like in MMA, he wasn't answering any shots, looked to no longer to be fully capable of defending himself. If the ref would have allowed it to continue it likely could have caused some serious damage.

Rough!

Truly, a freak shot, but helped by a weak heart heart to fight back. Arguably stopped too soon, only 50 seconds left in round. How does Roy do this to himself...

when he is on his knees. tries to get up and falls flat on his belly @ 1:45, it was over.

bad stoppage? come on, the referee seperates them and jones can barely walk backwards, the ref nearly pushes him off balance.
