Guerrero to headline the card that's headed for the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.
Former two-time world champion, Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero, is looking right on point during his training camp in preparing for his ESPN 2 "Friday Night Fights" debut. The fight will take place on June 12, 2009 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. The Glendale Fight Club in Southern California is where Guerrero's been doing most of his sparring while getting ready for a Johnny Edwards, a bout scheduled for ten rounds.
"Training camp is always rough," said Guerrero. "It's the total sacrifice to leave your family for six weeks. I feel great and I'm happy that I'm getting great sparring. Everyday that I'm out here I keep thinking about the sacrifices I'm making and it's getting me extremely hungry to get back to the ring. Everyone watching will know that I'm one of the best fighters in the world come fight night. I'm coming to make a statement."
The last time The Ghost was on ESPN was way back in 2000 when he took Gold at the Jr. Olympics. Guerrero was voted "Most Outstanding Fighter" of the tournament in which he knocked out three of his four opponents.
