Kotelnik v Khan Now Rescheduled

Well at least it's still on.
Amir Khan's title fight with Andreas Kotelnik has been delayed by three weeks because of a tooth infection suffered by the Ukrainian. The WBA light-welterweight contest will now take place on July 18th, however the fight has now been moved to Manchester's MEN Arena. The bout was originally due to take place at the 02 Arena in London on June 27th, but the venue was not available for the new date.
Although Khan admits the postponement and change of venue is a nuisance, he is also happy that the fight is still going ahead. "I'm delighted that the fight is still on, and when July 18th comes I will never be more ready for him although, the postponement is a pain," said Khan.
"I was looking forward to headlining at the O2 Arena again as I have a lot of fans in London. I always get a great reception there so hopefully I can go back sometime soon, maybe for my first defence. I had a great night at the MEN Arena against Barrera last time out and now I aim to win the world title against Kotelnik there, too."
The undercard that was planned for the June 27th date, which features Olympians James DeGale, Frankie Gavin and Billy Joe Saunders, has also been moved to July 18th.
