Cotto Doesn't Mind 145 Pounds
Posted by Salvador Rodriguez on 06.23.2009

If a fight between Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao materializes later this year, a catchweight of 145 pounds is where the fight will likely take place. Fortunately for Miguel Cotto (34-1), the weight makes no difference.

"It doesn't matter if it's at 145 pounds. That's the weight which we talked about from the start and inside the ring, I'll gain between 8-10 pounds," said Cotto in Puerto Rico.

The Puerto Rican champion said that, "we're hopeful of getting confirmation on the fight."

Cotto added that he wasn't impressed by anything that Pacquiao has done over his last three fights, having stopped David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton in consecutive fights.

"Nothing about that impressed me. He has two arms and so do I," added Cotto.

He also spoke about returning to the gym in three weeks now that the gash he received from an unintentional headbutt against Joshua Clottey, which required 21 stitches, has completely closed up.

"The cut is healed and we're just resting up now...we're going to work hard for a great fight. The people are aware of how Miguel Cotto trains," continued Cotto. He also added that his new corner, headed by new trainer Joe Santiago will stay intact although he admitted that there were some errors made in his fight with Clottey.

ya its not impressive when, u really think about it. david diaz was given a gift decision against morales. delahoya was weight drained and hadnt fought @ 147 for ten years, what do u expect. ricky hatton is nothing special, hes just a very likable guy he not a good boxer at all. he didnt do shit. ricky kind of commited suicide during his fight with pac.

Wow Cotto took the words Wright out of my mouth I don’t think Pacquiao knows in what kind of trouble he is going to be when he gets into the ring with Cotto and a my the only one who is not going to be surprise if Pacquiao gets knock out .hay theirs a reason Hatton and Oscar avoided Cotto caused they knew they did not had a chance in hell to beat him. So im sorry to say to all does well im not going to say boxing fans caused a real boxing fan knows what im talking about but to all Pacquiao Fanatics that’s his parade is about to end in a very bad way and im a fan of Cotto and of Pacquiao but im a overall boxing fan first.
