Oquendo Stops Seldon

Puerto Rican looks impressive against former champion
Fres Oquendo (31-5, 19 KOs) kept his dreams of winning a version of the heavyweight title alive by stopping former heavyweight champion Bruce Seldon (40-8, 36 KOs) in nine rounds at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. Although Seldon, who's best remembered for collapsing from a glancing blow from Mike Tyson, looked to be in fantastic shape he was outboxed throughout the bout by the slick Oquendo. After absorbing heavy punishment in rounds seven and eight (where he took a knee), Seldon was dropped in round nine and allowed the referee to count him out. At age 36, Oquendo is still young enough and talented enough to make an impact in a weak heavyweight division outside of the Klitschko brothers. Seldon will probably box on but it's clear, that at age 42, his days as a top level heavyweight are well and truly over.
