High Stakes On August 14th
Posted by Igor Frank on 08.10.2009

True to his form local boxing promoter Ken Thompson of Thompson Boxing Promotions is staging yet another thrilling night of pugilistic combat at Omega Products International in Corona, California on Friday, August 14th. Dubbed "High Stakes" due to an importance of each bout to careers of young prospects, the fight card will feature five competitive bouts.

In the main event of the evening unbeaten junior welterweight from Lake Elsinore , California, Mauricio Herrera (11-0,5 KO'S) will take on tough as nails Jason Davis (11-3,3 KO'S) from Seattle, Washington. Having fought all of his bouts in Inland Empire, Herrera is well known to local fans for his developing skills and exciting style and is sure to bring his own cheering section.

After suffering a controversial majority decision loss to Edgar Santana, despite scoring two knock downs, last April, Riverside's own, light welterweight Josesito Lopez (24-3,14 KO'S) is on a come back trail. He will be tested against durable veteran from Escondido, California, Sergio Joel De La Torre (11-11-3, 1 KO).

Stable mate of Chris Arreola, just turning pro a month ago, Jonathan Arrellano (2-0,1 KO) is already turning heads of fans. Just off of spectacular second round knock out of Fernando Moreno on August 1st at Aqua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California, exciting super bantamweight is back in action against rugged Hugo Ramos (2-1-1,1 KO) from Palm Springs.

In other action Jonathan Arias (15-3,8 KO) will face undefeated Khabir Suleymanov (7-0,2 KO) from Los Angeles in a six round bantamweight contest. Also super bantamweights Walter Sarnoi (3-0, 2 KO) and a veteran Jose Antonio Rico (5-8-1,2 KO) will open up the show.

Tickets will be available by calling 714-935-0900 or at the door and are priced at $75, $45 and $30. Doors will be open at 6:30 pm and the first bout will start at 7:45 pm.
