It wasn't anemia nor high cholesterol as it was being reported yesterday but rather a bacterial infection that sent Mexican great Julio Cesar Chavez to the hospital yesterday.
"The truth is that I was scared because they told me it was related to my heart," Chavez told Record. "I had been feeling ill since Omar's last fight but I hadn't told anyone and though I had gone to the doctor before, I usually left right away, but not this time. I had a temperature of 44 degrees Celsius and I felt it was necessary to get myself checked out."
The doctors informed Chavez that the infection was causing him various ailments including headaches that had been difficult to deal with as of late.
"Luckily they attended to me right away and to be honest they scared me a little bit so I took advantage by having tests done for my heart and brain and thank God everything came out just fine," added Chavez.
Regarding rumors that the hospitalization was related to alcohol or drug use, Chavez reiterated that it wasn't true.
