Los Angeles - Golden Boy Promotions staged the fourth edition of Fight Night Club at Club Nokia on Thursday September 24th in front of spirited knowledgeable boxing crowd.
In the main event of the evening, a six round light welterweight bout, undefeated Luis Ramos (13-0,7KO'S) from Santa Ana, California took on a veteran from Los Mochis, Mexico Cristian Favela (16-21-6,9KO). Despite a poor record Mexican veteran, Favela gave Ramos Jr. al he could handle, getting on the inside and pressuring the younger fighter. Southpaw Luis Ramos Jr was more accurate with his combinations to the head and body and thus won the unanimous nod from the judges. All three judges scored the fight the same 60-54.
Local lightweight Eric Godoy fighting for the first time professionally dominated his shorter opponent Javier Solis (0-3) in an opening four round bout. Godoy used his reach and speed advantage to land sharp punches almost at will. Referee David Denkin has seen enough of a massacre and stopped the contest at 2; 22 of the second stanza.
In an opening TV bout, televised by Versus Network, featherweight Ronny Rios (7-0,3KO'S) from Santa Ana, California made a very short night at work when he stopped Manuel Sarabia (16-30-9) from Culiacan, Mexico with a perfectly placed right hand at 38 seconds of the very first round. Referee Ray Corona started to administer the count but then changed his mind and waved the fight off.
After suffering his first professional defeat only a few months ago, a devastating first round knock out, local featherweight Charles Huerta(12-1,6KO'S) was back in action in a six round bout against a veteran Rodrigo Aranda(8-11-2,2KO'S) from Las Vegas, Nevada. It was life and death struggle for a local favorite Huerta who seemed to be lacking confidence to let his hands go and keep his rugged opponent off him. Referee David Denkin deducted a point from Aranda at the end of round four for hitting behind the head. At the end of the day judges liked Huerta's boxing skills and scored it for him unanimously: 59-54, 58-55, and 57-56.
Lightweights Karl Dargan (5-0,2KO'S) from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Rynell Griffin (5-2-1,1KO) from Bridge City, Louisiana entertained the crowd to a very spirited six round scrap. Decorated U.S amateur Dargan used his speed and reach advantage to land crisp combinations and control the distance, but shorter Griffin was quick enough to get inside and make it a competitive and exciting affair with his aggression. Judges scored it unanimously for Dargan; 59-55, 59-55, 58-56.
