Looking for a title shot in May.
Though Juliio Cesar Chavez Jr. is all set to go for November 14 against Troy Rowland on the Pacquiao-Cotto undercard, it hasn't stopped him from thinking about a possible title shot next year given his #1 contender status to Sergio Martinez' WBC junior middleweight strap.
"I know Sergio Martinez has said some things about me but I'm relaxed; I know that when I get my opportunity, I'll take advantage, but first I have to look good on Nov. 14 to make sure I get the title shot," said Chavez.
Julio Cesar said that for him, it would be a dream to make the fight next May or July at the Plaza de Toros in Mexico. "My dad fought many times in Mexico but one of the venues that always intrigued me was the Plaza Mexico - it would be an honor to fight there," he added.
Chavez will of course need to get past Rowland (25-2, 7 KOs) first next month.
"I know next to nothing about my opponent but either way, I'll have to win big to make a statement towards the champ [Martinez]."
