Hector Camacho Jr. avenged his father Friday night by defeating faded former champion Luis Ramon "Yory Boy" Campas by a ten round split decision victory. The bout was plagued by fouls which saw Camacho deducted four points for various penalties.
Camacho used his younger legs and superior speed to dance around Campas and pepper him with shots through out the night. Campas was also unable to get inside as Camacho consistently held once the veteran managed to get inside. Campas had some success in the 9th and 10th rounds but it was not enough to negate Camacho's eight rounds of relative domination.
After the fight, a bloated Fernando Vargas walked into the ring and challenged Camacho to a fight at Light Heavyweight. This would seem a stretch for Vargas who appeared well over 200 pounds.
On the undercard, Antonio Escalante stopped the overmatched journeyman, Carlos Fulgencio to improve his record to 22 - 2.
