Perez is Heading Home Today

The new bantamweight champ is feeling good.

New IBF bantamweight champion, Yonnhy Perez, is heading home to Colombia today to spend the next couple months with his wife and children. He doesn't plan to return to the States until February 1rst, 2010. Perez is excited about his homecoming, stating about the fight:

"I could hear them cheering for me over the phone and it was an emotional moment. I could feel their enthusiasm as if they were in the same room as me. I could feel their hopes and presence with me while I was fighting in the ring and I could feel it after too. They were so excited, especially because the fight was being aired to them in Colombia."

Perez is also proud to be the second world champion for his promoter, Thompson Boxing Promotions'--Timothy Bradley being the first.
