During their convention today, the WBC approved the postponement of junior middleweight titlist Sergio Martinez' mandatory title defense until a later date in order to face Paul Williams on December 5.
Williams was set to take on Kelly Pavlik but the middleweight champ again pulled out of his fight due to an issue with a staph infection leaving Williams frustrated and without an opponent. The backup plan of Martinez seems to now be in full effect as he'll move up to 160 pounds to battle ‘The Punisher' in Atlantic City.
