Chad Dawson Is Husky
Posted by Ryan Bates on 11.04.2009

Chad Dawson is ballin', yo.

Well, for a little bit he was. Dawson and his team met up with the University of Connecticut men's basketball team and head coach Jim Calhoun the day before UConn kicks off their 2009-2010 basketball season. Dawson said he'll be in attendance.

"I go back to the Ray Allen and Donyell Marshall days," said Dawson, who will be fighting in the same XL Center that UConn will be playing in. "I'm a big Ray Allen fan. I've always loved Ray Allen and I still do. He's been traded a few times but every team he goes to, that's the team that I support."

"The people of Connecticut don't realize what a terrific talent we have here," said Calhoun, a fuge boxing fan who plans to attend the fight Saturday. "He's got a chance to be one of those pound-for-pound guys. If you haven't seen a boxing match, you should. The purity of it, when two guys are going at it each other, it's one of the few things in sports that is truly pure."

"It's great to be back where I started and hopefully I'll have more fights here," said Dawson.

UConn takes on American International College in an exhibition game Wednesday at the XL Center.
