Papa, Don't Preach... And Get Out of My Corner

The WBC lays down the law on father-son teams in the corner.
The WBC Church of Holy Revival continues.
Next up: Fathers in sons' corners. The WBC says no more.
Apparently there has already been a rule in place saying that fathers can not work in sons' corners, but a California study has allegedly correlated corner families with death in the ring.
"The most common factor out of all the fatalities that had happened, was having fathers in the corner," said Dr. Paul Wallace, chairman of the WBC's medical advisory board. "Now, that's not something that's a medical issue, but it's something that's clearly an association."
While many might say that the study is akin to saying "When there's a murder, there's always oxygen in the air present," there is a little more stable validity to the ruling, as many people have noted a tendency in the father to live through the son.
"Too many fathers live through their kid in the ring," said WBC governor Rex Walker. "They transform from the corner to the kid, and they want to stay in the fight -- but they're not the ones getting hit."
Notable father-son teams in recent years have included Shane & Jack Mosley, Zab & Yoel Judah, Joe & Enzo Calzaghe, Roy Jones Jr. & Sr., and the infamous pairing of Floyd Mayweather Jr. & Sr.
