Lightweight Molina, Jr. To Fight For NABF Title
Posted by Raymundo Dioses on 11.05.2009

Undefeated lightweight sensation John Molina, Jr. continues his ascent up the lightweight division ladder as he fights for the NABF title against Martin Honorio at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California on November 28.

Molina, (18-0, 14KO's) will be the main event come fight night, a first for the young yet supremely talented fighter. The event will be televised by Showtime as a part of their series ShoBox: The New Generation, where Molina has previously been featured. The 26 year old from Covina, California trains under famed trainer Joe Goossen, and has thus far taken the knowledge his trainer has given him and applied it in the ring. Molina has had a breakout year to this point.

In February of this year Molina scored a third round knockout over Johua Alottey, followed by a second round stoppage of Carlos Vinan the very next month and was featured on ShoBox when he TKO'd Frankie Archuleta inside two rounds. In September of this year, Molina needed only 34 seconds to take out Efren Hinojosa via body shot.

Molina now takes the most important step in his young career as he tries to become the NABF champion. In the past, winners of the NABF title have gone on to compete for the major titles in their respective divisions. Molina looks to do the same on Thanksgiving weekend at the Pechanga Resort and Casino. Molina himself knows how big of a fight this is for him.

"It's my first main event headlining with added significance of being televised on SHOWTIME and for the NABF Championship, so this is really big for me," said Molina. "I'm working hard. I'm gonna dot all the I's and cross all the T's to be 110 percent prepared for this fight come November 28th."

Tickets priced at $65 Ringside, $50 VIP and $35 General Admission are available at the Pechanga Box Office from 10am to 10pm or by calling 1-877-2WIN and press 2. Doors open at 5:00 PM. First Bout is at 6:00 PM.
