411 Boxing Feedback: How Hardcore of a Boxing Fan Are You?
Posted by Ramon Aranda on 11.06.2009

Meet one of the most dedicated Manny Pacquiao fans in the world right here folks. This guy loves the Pacman so much, he went ahead and tattooed his mug on his arm. I don't know if that's devotion or simply scary but it raises the question...

How Hardcore of a Boxing Fan Are You?

To tell you the truth, I have an undying love of the sport and I will rarely miss any fight card that I can find on TV or online. I'm a boxing junky. Watching old tapes is a hobby of mine as well and anyone that knows me will tell you that Julio Cesar Chavez was and is my favorite fighter of all-time.

However, I do NOT have a tattoo of JC Superstar anywhere on my person so I guess I'm not as hardcore as the guy above...or maybe I am but just not as devoted to one particular fighter like that gentleman.

So what about you?

I'd love to hear any stories about you or anyone you know!

I was in the hospital the night of the Trinidad/Vargas fight. I tried bribing one of the nurses AND playing the "it's my birthday" card (Dec 2) to get them to show it somehow. Didn't get it, but at least the nurse went onto fightnews and kept an eye out for results.

I'm still convinced the reason Fernando lost that fight is because I wasn't watching. :(

I haven't picked B-Hop to lose a fight since he beat Trinidad. I'm a total "mark" for the old man.

A longterm casual follower, is how I'd describe myself. I've been a boxing fan for over 2 decades, but football (European) is the only sport I really get obsessed about. All other sports are distantly behind football, but boxing is my 2nd sport.

I do remember going to a mate's house packed with his entire family to watch Frank Bruno fight Tyson and I was the only person of about 18 to be behind Tyson. I felt pretty smug after that fight. :D

On the day of the 1st Mayweather-Castillo bout, I got my face split open during a drunken softball game, yet I refused to go to the ER for stitches, since I didn't want to miss the fight....I held my face together with gauze (while still drinkin' beer with the other hand) and watched a great title bout....I went to Kaiser the next morning and got a stern-talking-to by the nurse about how the wound could have been infected by waiting a full day....to this day, I have a big scar on my eyebrow, yet no regrets for not missing the fight ;-)
