The broken hand should heal in time.
New WBA heavyweight champion intends to defend his belt--as previously agreed upon--against John Ruiz by May of 2010. David Haye broke a bone in his right hand early in this past Saturday night's challenge against Nikolai Valuev. Haye won't be able to train until the hand heals, but he hopes that he should be throwing punches again by Christmas or early January. Says Haye:
"I saw John Ruiz fight on the undercard. He had a terrible cut on his forehead which will take time to heal up, maybe a similar sort of time to my hand" Haye is also confident, "I feel I will knock out John Ruiz..."
