Medical staff says they don't usually see this kind of response so quickly.
Dr. Michael Casey, the surgeon attending to Z Gorres after his frightening post-victory collapse last Friday, says that Z has "dramatically improved."
"I am happy with his development," said Dr. Casey in a press conference today at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV. He added that such progress "is normally seen in two weeks but because Z is young and in great health he responded well in only 5 days."
ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer said in a statement that Gorres has "a good chance to live a functional life not necessarily a normal life for now because he may need to rehabilitate his left side and this may need time."
Medical staff also announced that Z has been upgraded from critical to serious condition, and may be taken off a ventilator in as little as 48 hours.
The patrons of the ALA Gym say that Z's wife Dutchess is having paperwork filed so she may be bedside with her husband in Las Vegas.
