Francisco Rodriguez Dies From Injuries

Francisco Rodriguez, the Chicago-based super bantamweight died this morning in a Philadelphia area hospital, two days after he collapsed following a 10th round TKO loss to Teon Kennedy at the historic Blue Horizon. Rodriguez, was challenging for the vacant USBA super bantamweight title in his seventeenth professional bout, after a successful amateur career. "It's with a very heavy heart that we make this announcement," promoter Dominic Pesoli of Chicago-based 8 Count Productions said in a released statement. "Francisco was family to us and we all loved him very much.

Rodriguez leaves his wife and their young daughter. A fund is being set up in his name for the support of his young family.
