Showtime's "ShoBox" series touches down in Temecula, California on Thanksgiving weekend
ShoBox: The New Generation hosts a night of undefeated fighters in what will be the toughest challenges in their careers as lightweight sensation John Molina looks to attain his first championship against Martin Honorio, two former Olympians will be featured in separate bouts and super bantamweight Rico Ramos looks to stay undefeated on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Pechanga Resort & Casino.
The main event pits John Molina, (18-0, 14KO) against Martin Honorio for the NABF lightweight champion in a scheduled 10 rounds or less. Molina is from nearby Covina, California and expects to come ready for what he feels is his biggest step yet.
"I can't wait for Nov. 28. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas," said Molina, who is trained by Joe Goossen and turned pro on March 31, 2006. "I know I always say it's my ‘launching pad,' but this is really it. This is my coming-out party.
The co-main event of the night will feature super bantamweight contender Rico Ramos, (13-0, 8KO's) facing stiff competition as he takes on Salinas, California's Alejandro Perez, (14-1-1, 9KO) in what should be an exciting eight rounds. Perez's only loss came in 2005 against highly touted Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero.
Olympic teammates Shawn Estrada and Javier Molina will be featured in separate bouts. Estrada, (6-0, 6KO) a true super middleweight, has won all of his fights by knockout and has only been past the first round once in his already shining career. Molina, (2-0, 2KO) will be fighting his third professional fight, and will mark all three fights have been on the same card as Estrada.
Al Bernstein will call the action from ringside with Steve Farhood serving as expert analyst. The executive producer of ShoBox is Gordon Hall with Richard Gaughan producing and Rick Phillips directing. ShoBox recently celebrated seven outstanding years on the air.
