Jose Torre Gym Opens in Puerto Rico

The inauguration took place earlier today.



As part of the "Kids Drug Free" program, the WBO today inaugurated the Jose "Chequi" Torres gym in the city of Patillas in Puerto Rico.

The late Torres passed away this past January and this marks the first gym to be named after the former champion in his native Puerto Rico.

In attendance were Juan Manuel Lopez, Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., Alex Sánchez, Alfredo Escalera, Victor Calleja, Angel Espada and Juan Laporte. Members of PR Best Boxing Promotions, and All Star Boxing were also in attendance alongside Sampson Lewkowicz.

PR Best Boxing Promotions, All Star Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions all donated equipment for the new gym.
