The Straight Dope: Manny Refuses Testing?
Posted by Ryan Bates on 12.22.2009
According to Mayweather's people, Pacquiao is refusing Olympic-style drug testing.
The next speed bump on the road to Pacquiao/Mayweather: Drug testing.
According to Golden Boy & Mayweather Promotions, Manny does not want to comply with Olympic-style blood tests for substances. Olympic-style drug testing involves random sampling of the athlete's blood and urine prior to and after the fight. The United States Anti-Doping Agency procedure includes both blood and urine sampling so that all banned substances, some of which do not show up in urine alone, are tested for thoroughly.
"It is unfortunate to hear this from Manny Pacquiao's representatives, particularly since, as of today, both parties had worked out all other issues related to this fight," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. "Team Mayweather is certainly surprised that an elite athlete like Manny Pacquiao would refuse drug testing procedures which Floyd has already agreed to and have been agreed to by many other top athletes such as Lance Armstrong, and Olympians Michael Phelps, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant."
"I understand Pacquiao not liking having his blood taken, because frankly I don't know anyone who really does," said Mayweather. "But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same. It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring that night. I hope that this is either some miscommunication or that Manny will change his mind and step up and allow these tests, which were good enough for all these other great athletes, to be performed by USADA."
Neither Top Rank nor Team Pacquiao has made a response.
Floyd will kill this chump anyways so it doesn't matter if he's on more PED's then Ivan Drago.

I suggest a deal regarding the Olympic drug testing demanded by the Mayweathers.
The Mayweathers have been accusing Pacquiao of steroid use or other illegal substances
but has been passing the tests given by the Nevada Athletic Association since. They dont
have any proof or solid evidences to support their malicious accusations.
Now they want Manny Pacquiao to undergo an amateur style of drug testing obviously
because of their malicious accusations.
Here's my proposed deal:
Since the Mayweathers are so sure about their claims, i suggest that Floyd Jr pays Pacquiao
10 million dollars if he tested negative. But if Pacquiao tested positive, Pacquiao pays Floyd
the 10 million dollars. If Floyd wont agree to the payments, then Pacquiao can fairly refuse
the Olympic drug testing. The humiliating amateurish olympic drug testing was demanded by
the Mayweathers because of their accusation, fear of losing, professional jealousy and to
distract Manny's preparation into the fight.
Floyd Sr said that with or without steroids, Floyd can still beat Pacquiao. Why not do the
Olympic drug tests right after the fight if thats the case? So they wont be accused that
they're just distracting Pac's preparation into the fight.

If this is true, I'm very disappointed & serious questions are raised. Floyd is winning this hand easy.
What r ur thoughts Rhino?

N here come the excuses from the PacMan fans....Mayweather has already stated ENOUGH by saying he is doing the testing....n this whole over-weight issue isnt an issue...Who cares if Mayweather came in weighing 146 against Marquez...yes the fight was at 144 put he paid his for the 2 pounds...MAYWEATHER FIGHTS AT 147 u PacMan LOVERS...so 147 is NO PROBLEM for MONEY MAY...the only time her weighed more then that he weighed 149 for a fight he fought at 154..Against DLH... Let the master of the catch weight fight complain and have Freddie the Roach Coach just shut his mouth....U said u would fight Mayweather at any terms without excuses and now that Mayweather says lets do it this way....U guys dont want to...WHAT R U SCARRED OF???? as my shirt says from the May 5th 2007 fight....VIVA EL MAYWEATHER!!!!!

It's gamesmanship you MORONS! I love how everybody is talking about Pac-Man being scared. Everything from the date, to the venue, the weight, to the testing is all about gamesmanship. Who controls the upper hand. Who makes the rules. Why should Pac-Man give in to Floyd's demands and vice versa? We'll see a compromise on this issue just like every other issue that has come up. People are stupid nowadays to believe everything they read!

Pac doesn't it want blood drawn within 30 days of the fight due to superstitious reasons.
Don't see any reason the Mayweathers are making a fuss about this in any case, as there is zero proof Pac is on anything. Hope the fight pushes through.

Whats the deal pac? lets let this be a straight fight with no doubts. If you are as great as you claim you are than man up! Pac you are a grown man dude this is a sport so do whats right not just claim superstitious reasons.Mayweather got my respect big time! Hey either way if they fight may the best man win. Pac you want all the glory but yet refuse a blood test I just smell something fishy here as do a hell of alot of people so man up guy!I noticed pac fans are in denial big time. Mayweather will give pac the beating he so desperatly has coming to him! Remember no one can stay on top forever and this fight will show pacs true weakness. choke on that slapnuts!
Posted By: tna bandwagon (Guest) on December 22, 2009 at 10:30 PM
is it superstitious reasons or is there something to hide? Cause Arum just made a comment and sounded defensive, calling it "ridiculous demands". What's ridiculous is Pacman demanding 10 million for every pound Mayweather is over. Any biased comments Mr. Bates?
Posted By: unknown (Guest) on December 23, 2009 at 12:49 AM
No matter who you're in favor of, Pacman looks a suspicious for not agreeing to this considering Mayweather would lose $10 million/pound for coming in over the limit.

Why Are Golden Boy & Floyd Trying To Kill The Fight?
Published by Scoop Malinowski on December 22nd, 2009
Print This Post | Email This Post | RSS
Manny Pacquiao has already agreed to drug tests before and after the March 13th fight, isn’t that enough for Golden Boy and Floyd?
It is public knowledge that Roy Jones, James Toney and others have tested positive for substances after fights through the established testing system . If Manny Pacquiao is on a performance enhancer isn’t the current testing system reliable enough to detect and capture him – if he is cheating?
Why is Golden Boy and Floyd doubting the current testing system which has proven to work – are they indirectly accusing Pacquiao and the Nevada State Athletic Commission to be capable of CORRUPTION?
Was Richard Schaefer or Golden Boy involved in the selection of the judges of the Guzman-Funeka fight in Quebec City?
Are the actions of Golden Boy, Richard Schaefer and Floyd consistent with an entity that wants to stage “Boxing’s Super Bowl”? Or would they prefer to kill the fight and stage a 10-round sparring session between Floyd Mayweather and Matthew Hatton?
Why won’t Golden Boy and Richard Schaefer and Floyd Mayweather demand and accept a urine test 48, 36 or 24 hours before the fight? Why must it be a blood test – is this their last and final way to kill the fight, except for Floyd coming up with another rib injury?
Are Golden Boy and Floyd hoping that by drawing blood from Manny Pacquiao within 24 or 48 hours of the fight, that this never before used tactic (to the best of my knowledge) in boxing history could have a minute but mental and physical effect on the strength and punch force of Manny Pacquiao in the fight? Could the loss of blood be their way to try and negate the vaunted power of the Filipino, which they fear?
Why did Bernard Hopkins and George Peterson previously

If anyone is trying to kill this fight its more Pacman than Mayweather.
1st: They cant fight in May because he's running for office
2nd: They make a ridiculous demand: 10 million for every pound Mayweather is over
3rd: He wont agree with the Olympic Style Drug testing, when a few people in his camp already commented saying it wouldnt be a problem.
Look, Im no Pacman hater, and I really dont like Floyd, but if the tables were turned, everyone would be saying Mayweather is ducking Pacquiao.
I just call it like it is.
Keep the sport alive! Make this Fight and Prove The Mayweather camp is wrong for their allegations Pacman. If not, then you must be on the juice!

Jeez for upwards of 25 million dollars, I'd lay off the coke for awhile...come on Manny! You can do it!
Posted By: Guest#7696 (Guest) on December 23, 2009 at 04:53 AM
Oh, and given that Arum / Pac's camp haven't released any statements, and that Mayweather generally suffers from a lack of class, I'd take any reports with a grain of salt.
Floyd trying to come off as the more sportsmanlike guy here is downright sickening.
Also, Pac is willing to be tested right after the fight, which indicates he isn't hiding anything. To me, at least.
Posted By: Vordeo (Guest) on December 23, 2009 at 11:02 AM
Pac has agreed to post fight blood testing, and has been randomly tested under the NAS and has always passed. Mayweather is only doing this for mind games and to mess with Pac's training and weight cut.
If Mayweather wants to screw up this fight that's fine for him, he can miss out on this huge payday. He's gambling that Manny needs this fight more than he does and will just give into his dumb demands. In reality neither side is going to screw up this fight, and they'll both show up and make their money and just make excuses afterwards if they lost. Most likely Mayweather is already preparing to make excuses, since he probably doesn't think he can win, in which case he definitely won't.

wow warrior king are you stupid?
why the hell would mm pay manny to take a drug test ten million is more than he has ever made in a fight alone
im sorry but that is the stupidest shit i ever heard
its understandable because if you take blood its easiar to get knocked out or fatifued but its not that much besides floyds doing it too
looks like this fight isnt going to happen
mannys just being a pussy or he has something to hide

Actually the last known time that this type of blood test was used was in 05 I believe and it had a lil Fighter by the name of MANNY PACQUIAO involved...It was for the 1st fight against Erick Morales...According to Pacquiao and ppl in his camp if he would have never gotten his blood taken 5 days before the fight he would have won that fight...So that is why Manny doesnt want to do this type of test before it...Look according to Bob Arum the fight is off thanks to Manny....some1 on here said that if it were Manny giving these demands to Floyd and he would take the stance that Manny is taking then Floyd would be ducking Manny....Look ppl just call it how is it....Manny is afraid of getting his Blood taken because he feels he is gonna be worn down and lose.....1 more thing
The fight hasnt even started and Mayweather is ahead 10-9: MIND GAMES

Can anyone throw some light on what is the difference between " USADA "the United States Anti Drugs Agency and "WADA" World Anti Doping Agency and which would be rated as the higher standard of scrutiny , I appreciate replies to pmy747@googlemail.com Thanks Phil
