An apparent heart attack takes the life of Cotto's father.
Miguel Cotto Carrasquillo (Sr.) passed away over the weekend due to an apparent heart attack, according to the Puerto Rican Associated Press.
According to various reports, Cotto Sr. who frequently used an oxygen machine for his asthma died while in a town in Caguas when he felt ill.
Former welterweight champ and son Miguel Cotto said, "We appreciate all of the condolences. It's a hurtful time for my family and I and we hope you can all respect the time and space we need to get through this difficult time."
