Mayweather and Pacquiao in Last Ditch Talks
Posted by David M. Lee on 01.04.2010

The long, drawn out saga between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao looks set to come to a close as representatives of both men will meet on Tuesday in a last ditch attempt to salvage their Match 13th super-fight.

The meeting will take place in Santa Monica, California and retired federal judge Daniel Weinstein will serve as mediator. Weinstein has experience with the two parties, having mediated the dispute which prevented Top Rank (Pacquiao's promoter) and Golden Boy Promotions (which is representing Mayweather) from doing business with each other for two years.

Bob Arum, chairman of Top Rank, is more than satisfied with Weinstein's credentials. Arum told ESPN.com: "He's a guy who is a big fight fan and loves the sport, and I found him last time to be a delight to deal with. Everybody did."

One way or the other, it looks as though there will finally be a definitive outcome to this whole sorry debacle. If the fight falls through, it still seems likely that both men will be in action come March. Pacquiao is rumored to be facing WBA junior-middleweight champion Yuri Foreman on March 20th in the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Mayweather, on the other hand, could still fight at the MGM Grand on March 13th, only this time against former IBF junior-welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi.

Floyd vs Paulie.....Paulie is going to get KILLED....as for Pacquiao going up against Foreman....U know I will only say he has a record 6 world titles in different weight classes....REALLY Who counts David Diaz as a champ or a challenge for Pac....Come on that was way to easy....sh!t if Pac wants to fight a 154 champ why not go for Angulo... OOoooooo thats right cus he will destroy pac....Pac is only looking for easy fights now to get his record n make it climb....Cotto was no easy task but easier than it would have been if he fought him 2 years ago....I hope Money vs PacMan can be saved tomorrow...I hope they have an agreement because LORD knows Boxing, its FANS n pretty much EVERY1 wants to see this happen.....Heres to it happen

"Cotto was no easy task but easier than it would have been if he fought him 2 years ago..."

Because Cotto is past his prime at 29? FYI, Pacquiao is 31 and would not even be at the weight class 2 years go. Pac was simply the better fighter, stop making excuses for Cotto who fought a good fight.

And manny won't go up to 154 because it's been stated that they're not going passed 147.

You have it all wrong...Its because 2 years ago Cotto was undefeated....After Margarito's loaded gloves beat Cotto he has never been the same...I make NO excuses for the guy he is 1 of my favorites in boxing its just the truth...Margarito took something out of Cotto just like Pavlik took alot away from Taylor.

you say pac is handpicking opponents look no further than the master floyd "money" mayweather.

He might have hand picked opponents but lets look at who he has hand picked...Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo, Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez.....Most of those guys have spots waiting for them in the Hall Of Fame...Money gave Corrales a beating..Castillo lost 2 close fights..Gatti got the worst beating he ever got from Floyd...Ricky got destroyed by Floyd, ricky has and will never be the same...Oscar...at least Floyd had the dignity in fight Oscar at Oscar's weight class...as for Marquez..Money completely blanked out Marquez...the same Marquez that gave Pac a run for his life....So really come on...U have to call it how it is...Corrales, Castillo, Hatton, Judah and others were actually peaking n in their prime when Floyd beat em...Who has Pac really beat....2 granpas who were already on there way out...David Diaz....who else...who else...

Why can't these idiots just give us the fight we all want and one that will make them a gazillion dollars?

Screw the politics and the drug testing.. if both are clean then there is no excuse for potentially the biggest fight ever not to happen.
