Glen Johnson Speaks on 50th Win and Title Shot

He's happy to get #50 but what he really wants is Tavoris Cloud.
Going into this light heavyweight bout with Yusaf Mack on Friday night, Glen Johnson (50-13-2, 34 KOs) was being questioned in terms of his ability to win the fight at this stage in his career. Needless to say, Johnson proved his critics wrong with an impressive knockout win over Mack in the 6th round in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
It was a fight that was to be a part of the Mosley-Berto showdown on Jan. 30 but fortunately was rescheduled when that fight was canceled. The win of course gave "The Road Warrior" the coveted 50th win of his pro career.
"This is a great moment for me and it came with a lot of hard work and dedication," said Johnson. "What made it even better for me was that I was able to get this win in front of my family and friends in South Florida, the people who have been in my corner all these years."
The win also gave Johnson another title shot as he's now the mandatory challenger for IBF light heavyweigh titlist Tavoris Cloud. That fight is set to take place sometime this year and a date and location is set to be announced shortly.
"I'm looking forward to regaining the world title this year and making it one of the best years of my career," said the popular ‘Road Warrior.' "Tavoris Cloud is a solid, young fighter with a bright future that I respect - just like Yusaf Mack."
