Guerrero Cancels Bout With Katsidis As Wife's Condition Worsens

Casey Guerrero's bout with leukemia takes a turn in the wrong direction; now, IBF champ Robert Guerrero finds himself in a whole other fight.
Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero has called off his fight with Michael Katsidis, slated for March 27th, but that's not the real story.
The real story is that Guerrero is in a much bigger fight now. The leukemia within Guerrero's wife, Casey, which was previously in remission, has taken a turn for the worse. After undergoing a bone marrow transplant, complications have arose, making every day, as Guerrero's co-manager Bob Santos calls it, "hit or miss."
Santos said that the situation now is not like when he fought Martin Honorio in 2007 after Casey's leukemia was diagnosed. "There was a lot of hope and optimism," he said of the time Guerrero trained to defend his featherweight title. "The doctors were like, 'We can try this and we can do that.' In this case, it's hit or miss. We just don't know if the [bone marrow transplant] is going to work.
"She's at a point where if this doesn't work, unless there is divine intervention, she's in big trouble."
Divine intervention is exactly what Guerrero hopes for now. "I'm asking everyone in the boxing community along with family, friends, and the general public to keep Casey in their prayers," the 25-1-1 (17 KO) IBF junior lightweight champion pleaded. "I will continue to keep my faith in Jesus Christ and pray for understanding."
The 411Boxing family sends its heartfelt best wishes to Casey Guerrero, the champ Robert Guerrero, and the entire family.
