"Vicious" Victor Ortiz (26-2, 21 KOs) packed Club Nokia to the capacity headlining Fight Night Club on Thursday night with a ten-round welterweight contest against tough as nails Hector Alatorre (16-9, 5 KOs) from Tulare, California. The main event of the evening televised by Fox Sports network showcased Ortiz who dominated the fight from the beginning to end and finally stopped Alatorre 51 seconds into the very last round.

Despite being outclassed in every category Alatorre did not get discouraged and kept coming forward and pressed the action. Ortiz landed some bombs that would have dropped most humans, but not Alatorre who just kept coming, but was reduced to being a live punching bag. Finally in the tenth stanza Victor closed the show with a combination that ended with an uppercut that dropped Alatorre who did beat the count but was in no shape to continue and told his corner to end it. Despite an impressive ending this bout was a glorified sparring session.

In a battle of southpaws, unbeaten lightweight from Santa Ana, California, Luis Ramos Jr. (14-0,7KO'S) took on a seasoned veteran from Monteria, Colombia Walter Estrada (35-12,24KO'S). Ramos' speed and youth versus Estrada's grit and experience made up for a very competitive bout that was closely contested throughout four rounds. All three judges scored the fight 40-36 for Ramos Jr., but the scores did not indicate how close the fight really was.

In the opening bout televised by Fox Sports Network local featherweight prospect Charles Huerta (13-1, 6 KOs) took on a tough customer from Mission, Texas Guadalupe De Leon (8-10, 4 KOs) in a six round battle. Last time out De Leon beat Derrick Wilson, the same pug that has a knock out victory over Charles. Huerta knew he was in a life and death situation from second round on. Despite his advantage in reach height and speed, he got drugged in into a firefight and thus gave his opponent a better chance to win. De Leon pressed the action throughout and made his more skilled adversary exchange blows to the delight of the crowd. In the end judges preferred Huerta's accurate punches to his opponent's aggression. Charles earned a hard fought split decision victory with one judge scoring it even and others had it 59-55 and 58-56 for Huerta.

"It was a tough fight," said Huerta while icing his knuckles after the bout. "But that's what we came here for."

In the opening bout undefeated featherweight, prospect from Oxnard, California Ricky Lopez (7-0, 2 KOs) had to weather an early storm raining from a very aggressive and focused Hugo Ramos (2-5-2, 1 KO) from Palm Springs. Ramos attacked with reckless abandon forcing Lopez to retreat to the ropes. Like a seasoned veteran Lopez got himself together and started to fire back accurate punches that gave him some room to operate. Lopez controlled the action in the middle rounds boxing and moving. The fourth and final round was a war with both combatants giving as good as getting. All three judges scored the fight the same 39-37 for Ricky Lopez.

Unbeaten lightweight from Philadelphia Karl Dargan (7-0,3 KOs) dominated a veteran from Los Mochis, Mexico Jose Alfredo Lugo (10-13-1, 6 KOs) throughout the fight scheduled for six rounds; the advantage in speed and boxing skills was evident from the beginning. Dargan with Nasim Richardson in his corner displayed versatility using great defensive skills and throwing sharp counters and at times leading with combinations landing almost at will. The disparity in class became more pronounced as the fight progressed; Dargan kept landing sharp blows snapping his opponents head back. Ringside physician ended the slaughter after four one sided rounds. It was an impressive win for a former amateur stand out from Philadelphia.
