Godfrey-Cunningham is OFF

Nobody else will say it but if you're waiting for Godfrey-Cunningham on Friday you will be disappointed with some actual news (no speculation here).
According to sources very close to the Matt Godfrey camp ESPN was wrong to report that the Godfrey-Cunningham IBF cruiserweight title fight was still on for Friday March 26th in Chicago. Godfrey had been working with "Iceman" John Scully who very vocally informed people via a facebook posting that "Attention: The fight is OFF!!! Don't go by what they tell you, the fight is off...and certain people will spin it to blame Matt Godfrey but I assure you, they either don't know or they are just trying to deflect blame off of themselves..." For those unaware of the situation the fight was originally scheduled to take place in Sunrise, Florida but was postponed when ESPN had an opening on Friday Night Fights for March 26th and the fight was moved to Las Vegas. However, a dispute over money led to Don King falling out of the fight (original promoter) and the fight being called off. After the fight was called off the purse bid went to the next highest bidder (Main Events) who tried to revive the fight – after the fight was already called off an the fighters had been told (for about two days) that the fight wouldn't happen – by putting the fight on March 26h in Chicago as the main event of a Main Events card. However both fighters had to sign off on the new location, new fight and Matt Godfrey who I remind you had been told for two days or more that there would be no fight wouldn't agree to sign on to fight in the biggest fight of his life after having taken time off.
So just so we're clear this Friday on March 26th there may be a fight on Friday Night Fights but it WILL NOT be Matt Godfrey vs. Steve Cunningham for the IBF cruiserweight title.
