And the fight against Aydin is off.
According to ESPN.com well regarded welterweight contender, Luis Collazo, is moving up in weight. Collazo (30-4, 15 KOs), a former welterweight titleholder, who has been in the ring with Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, and Andre Berto, will soon be leaving the 147 pound division. Collazo had been schedule to face Selcuk Aydin of Turkey in the near future, but due to the multiple delays of the fight, and trouble maintaining his weight, he is backing out of the commitment. He was also unhappy about the size of his purse. Collazo's adviser and trainer, Nirmal Lorick, has a lot to say:
"We waited around for months thinking we'd have the rematch with Berto while the purse bid kept getting rescheduled," Lorick said. "Then Berto got an exception to fight Mosley [in a January fight that was ultimately canceled] and we were supposed to fight Aydin for the interim [title].
"Then the fight was delayed over and over," Lorick continued. "It's ridiculous. Now, they say Luis should go over there, lose the weight and fight for no money?"
In case you didn't know, Collazo is promoted by Don King.
