IBF super bantamweight champion Steve Molitor landed at Gatwick Airport this morning, where he immediately headed into London to attend a press conference with opponent Jason Booth, and promoter Frank Maloney ahead of next Saturday's fight.
The 30 year old Canadian has scored some notable victories on British soil, a fact that he was keen to broadcast:
"It feels great to be back, we have had a lot of success here in the UK, the fans are really great here and they treat me really well so I'm glad to be back."
One of those successes was against Booth's younger brother Nicky, for the Commonwealth title back in 2002. But Molitor expects a far tougher examination against the elder sibling:
"I think he's a better boxer than his little brother Nicky, he's a little bit smaller. Chris (Johnson, Molitor's trainer) has watched a lot of hours of tapes on him so come September 11th we have a solid game plan and we will be ready."
Booth - for his part – showed his more illustrious opponent plenty of respect, realizing that this is undoubtedly the biggest fight of his career:
"He's one of those really clever southpaws and I know it's going to be a hard night's work…I don't think he's past his best, because he's older now it's a different Steve Molitor to other fights and if he's past his best then what does that make me!"
Molitor's camp made a swift exit from the conference, heading north to their Sunderland training base, in order to finalize preparations for the fight.
Molitor-Booth will square off at the Rainton Meadows Arena in Sunderland on September 11th.
