Earlier today, a conference call took place involving Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito to discuss their Nov. 13 clash at Cowboys Stadium.
Below are some notes from Pacquiao, Bob Arum and Freddie Roach.
I think both Manny and Tony have been doing great in training.
On ticket sales:
I think we'll exceed last time. I think we'll get over 60,000.
Catch-weights have existed throughout boxing history… This is not something new in boxing… Fighters always, throughout history, have arranged to meet at a catch weight. It's being fought at a weight that is above welterweight, therefore its for a title at a higher weight.
We had a good training camp, it just wasn't the best.
Since we're back now, he's been running the mountains.
We're starting to taper back now and saving for the fight.
On Margarito possibly weighing 160 pounds:
Size doesn't win fights, skill does.
On Margarito being a villain:
I'm a professional, and I'm going to do my job. There's not going to be any tampering… they will both be equal with hand wraps.
On the catch-weight:
Both fighters have agreed to it, so where's the issue? There is no issue in my mind.
Letter grade for camp: B
Manny Pacquiao being asked about if training camp and what Freddie has been saying about it:
I was very happy to get back here (to Los Angeles) with my condition and sparring.
Of course Freddie is worried about me, and I understand that.
We had a good training camp this time.
On Margarito's weight, and that he might be up to 160 pounds.
In training today, we studied hard on his weight and reach advantage. We do our best in training with strategy.
On his confidence against bigger guys:
I believe I can fight against the bigger guys.
For me, it's not a distraction. I believe if it doesn't distract you, and you train hard and do your job, there is no distraction, and nothing to worry (about).
Thinking of retiring:
Not yet. I can still fight.
On singing with Will Ferrell
It's a good song, I like it. I was having a good time with Will Ferrell, he is a funny guy…
