Alfredo Angulo to be Deported
Posted by Joe Roche on 01.06.2011

According to Michael Marley of Examiner.com and confirmed by sources at Top Rank and Gary Shaw Productions, 19-1 phenom Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo has been living in the United States illegally and it is only a matter of time before the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency of the United States sends the championship contender back to Mexico.

Apparently Angulo has snuck into the United States once before but had been deported back to Mexico. According to Shaw, and Mike Crisicio they were unaware that Angulo was living in the United States illegally and they were blindsided by the news that this contender with whom they spent a considerable amount of time and money was for all intents and purposes about to have his career (at least in the US) ended.

"Nobody is going to touch this guy," Arum told Marley. "Nobody is interested now because of the huge legal problem. He picked the wrong time to be an illegal immigrant in our country, that's for sure."

"Angulo never told anybody about it," a source familiar with the situation said Tuesday. "He was at ringside at the Sergio Mora-Shane Mosley fight in L.A. acting like he doesn't have a care in the world. He is as brazen outside the ring as he is in it when that opening bell rings."

Some executives have been asked whether or not Showtime or HBO would stick their necks out for Angulo and broadcast his fights in Mexico (assuming his career continues south of the border) "I don't think so. It's different than when Showtime televised Edwin Valero in a fight from Mexico. Valero was barred from entry because of a DUI case in Las Vegas. I don't think he had been deported and then brazenly snuck back into the U.S."
