Macklin-Barker to be Rescheduled

Date and venue to be announced for Euro & British title fight.
The scrapped main event from Frank Warren's Magnificent Seven card back in September between middleweights Matthew Macklin (28-2, 19 KO) and Darren Barker (22-0, 14 KO) has been resurrected, with the announcement that Hennessy Sports' (Barker's promoters) bid was successful in staging the highly anticipated domestic dust-up.
Although details of a venue and a fight date are to be confirmed, the proposed tussle shows great promise, pitting the current European champion (Mackin) against the British titlist (Barker). Their originally slated September showdown was cancelled, due to Barker sustaining a hip injury, leaving the undefeated Barnet boxer-puncher out of competitive action since last April. In that time, Macklin recaptured the Euro title vacated by Barker, forcing Shalva Jomardashvili to retire in his corner after five rounds, and laboured to a points victory over tough Spaniard Ruben Varon in December.
Promoter Mick Hennessy stated "I'm delighted to announce that Hennessy Sports have won the rights to stage this well talked about mega fight, and as per EBU rules we will be announcing the date and venue for this contest within the next 2 weeks."
