July 17, 2007 | Posted by Michael Bauer

Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper. Now, let’s get to the action at hand.

We open with the new video and brand new music from last week as we join Joey Styles and Tazz at ringside. They head backstage as reporters are outside Johnny Nitro’s locker room. His press agent, or something like that, comes out and says Johnny Nitro will not be in ECW after tonight and says that more questions will be answered during the press conference later on tonight in the ECW ring. Tazz and Styles are confused as we get the first entrance…

CM Punk vs. Elijah Burke

Well, if you needed a better replacement for Marcus Cor Von, try and find one. Tazz and Styles keep trying to figure out what Nitro’s announcement is about. The bell rings and Burke jaws with Punk in the center of the ring, but Burke backs up clean. They lock up and Punk is backed into the corner, but Punk backs Burke to the ropes, followed by a clean break. Grecko-Roman lock is dominated by Punk, who then lifts Burke up with one arm and drops him to the mat. Arm wrench locked in by Punk now as Burke is able to get up. Punk drives him down again and hits a side kick to the arm. Punk with a scoop slam and a quick legdrop gets a two count, barely. Punk locks in the arm wrench again and again Burke gets up. Punk backed into the corner and a cheap kick to the gut. Burke connects with some clubs to the back of the head, followed by a snap mare and an elbow drop for a two count. Burke brings Punk to his feet, but has his suplex attempt blocked. Punk with a suplex and he floats over for a two count. Punk again goes to the arm wrench and is once again backed into the corner. Punk whipped into the corner and Burke charges. Punk gets the boot up and lifts up Burke, but Burke turns it into a head scissors that takes both men out of the ring. We head to a commercial at 4:46.

We are back now at 8:02 and Burke is in control as he locks in a single leg crab. We get a replay of the top rope handstand into an elbow drop during the break. Burke is lounging on Punk’s back now, until he rolls out into an elbow to the back and gets a two count. Burke now locks in a Boston Crab and sits back far. Punk crawls over and nearly taps out, but gets the bottom rope. Burke pulls him back, but Punk kicks off and gets to his feet. Burke follows Punk to the corner, but Punk keep him off with forearms in some kicks, but Burke connects with an uppercut and gets a two count. Burke now with a surfboard on Punk, but Punk quickly gets to his feet. Burke hits a knee to the gut and a backbreaker and gets a two count. Burke shoves Punk into the ropes and hits a few forearms to the back. Burke with a scoop slam and he goes to the legs and Punk lifts his legs up with kicks to the face. Punk up and he hits some kicks to the legs now and runs off the ropes with some clotheslines. Punk now hits a kick to the face and Burke drops. Punk only gets a two count though. Burke slips out of a vertical suplex and hits a back suplex of his own for a two count. DDT by Punk as he counters a right hand and he rolls into a two count. Burke ducks Punk and hits a German suplex for a two count. Burke hits some jabs, but Punk ducks the knockout blow and hits the Go2Sleep out of nowhere! Punk goes for the cover and gets the pinfall at 14:32.

Winner: CM Punk

As Punk heads to the back, Tazz talks about the impact that Big Daddy V has on the Boogeyman. Up next, we get his first match in the ECW.

We are back, and after a Bobby Lashley vs. John Cena hype video, Matt Striker comes out to the ring to show us the video for the what Striker calls the definition of redemption. He then introduces Big Daddy V. Styles calls him a 500 pound behemoth.

Big Daddy V vs. Ted Storm

Styles and Tazz don’t like Storm’s chances. Well… DUH! Big Daddy V quickly gets the advantage as he shoves Storm into the corner. Big Daddy V off the ropes and a squash in the corner. Out of the corner and Big Daddy V hits a Samoan Drop. Storm off the ropes and he gets drilled with a Scrapbuster Slam into a pin for the three count at 1:05.

Winner: Big Daddy V

We are back from a break and The Miz is in the center of the ring. The Miz calls himself a chick magnet and that everywhere he goes, every woman throws themselves at him. Miz doesn’t really know why it happens, just that chicks dig him. Now, he says he is calling out three chicks that have a surprise for him. And out comes the Extreme Expose. Layla gets a steel chair and has The Miz sit down as they do a routine in the ring for him. This includes dancing around him and in some cases on him after they rip off their shirts. The Miz can’t stop smiling from ear to ear.

As they leave, Tazz and Styles try to figure out what Johnny Nitro was talking about with leaving ECW as they go through highlights of last week’s main event between Nitro and Dreamer.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Kevin Thorn

Speaking of Tommy Dreamer, here he is for his entrance as we cut to a commercial. We come back and out comes Kevin Thorn. The bell rings and Kevin Thorn backs up Tommy Dreamer to the ropes off the opening lock up. They break and Kevin Thorn goes to the clubbing to the back. Dreamer gets backed into the corner and hits a shoulder to the gut. Dreamer with a hip toss and Thorn gets to the ring apron. Dreamer grabs Thorn, but Thorn drops the arm over the top rope, going after the injury he has from fighting Nitro. Thorn locks in an arm bar and breaks it into an arm wrench. Dreamer gets up and Thorn hits a shoulder block into Dreamer’s arm. Thorn locks in another arm wrench, but Dreamer is up quickly and reverses into a swinging neckbreaker. Dreamer has the irish whip reversed, but he gets the boot up into Thorn’s face. Dreamer goes up top, but Thorn catches him and tries a superplex. Thorn gets shoved off and Dreamer connects with a splash from the top for a two count. Air Dreamer… hmmm… catchy. Dreamer goes for a piledriver, but strikes the arm to stop the attempt. Thorn attempts the high angle powerbomb, but Dreamer slips out and hits a clothesline. Dreamer now goes for the DDT, but Thorn blocks and throws Dreamer shoulder first into the ring post. Thorn goes for the pinfall and gets it at 5:01. After the bell, Kevin Thorn hits Original Sin anyway.

Winner: Kevin Thorn

We go to the back as the Press Agent comes back out and all the reporters follow him as the press conference is up after the break.

We are back and the Press Agent talks up Johnny Nitro and all of his accomplishments from before ECW and says that he will no longer be in the ECW after tonight. That is because Johnny Nitro has officially changed his name. Nitro comes out looking almost like Elvis with longer hair with brand new music. I kinda like this. He introduces himself as John Morrison, a name he was giving at birth. He starts going over his growth and development as a kid and he was a child prodigy and a natural leader. The crowd goes nuts with the “What?” chants at Nitro as he bores as all to death. John then tells the doubters that he took Dreamer and beat him at his own game and that he will beat Punk at the Great American Bash. He starts questioning CM Punk’s name and insults the CM piece of it, trying to guess if it means Cookie Monster. He then calls him a punk as being a kid with tattoos. CM Punk now comes out and gets into the ring with John Morrison and John dismisses the thought of a confrontation. John then actually asks Punk what his name really stands for. Punk goes to take the mic, but John cheap shots him with the microphone and hits the corkscrew neckbreaker on the title belt. John stands tall over CM Punk with the title and leaves as we end the broadcast.
